What’s everyone’s opinions on progression servers, like Everquest has?
When TBC is released, people can get the option to move to a server that gets a new phase (and then expansion) let’s say every 8-12 weeks, eventually catching up to retail. Perhaps multiple servers could have different stopping points, so some end at each expansion.
People play Classic because they don’t like what TBC and onward has turned into.
It would be better to skip TBC and offer the slightly good (for wow standards) expansions: Cata, MoP and Legion, unless Blizzard wants to try to create a actual good game through Classic+.
Most people I see actually want to see TBC and WotLK released and then have Classic stop there. I think “Classic+” could certainly work, but without a roadmap of some kind I can’t see myself (and many others) sticking around to find out. And Blizzard is basically allergic to any kind of announcements.

It is too complicated and there is high risk of realms being dead if you create too many different options for players to choose off.
TBC will be great, Wotlk too. and i think they will stop.
One thing i am absolutely worrying about it server management. So far they have showed us that … why I am even trying … you know how they handle server management
So I have no idea, how possibly they could run simultaneously current classic servers / future TBC servers / future Wotlk servers + fresh classic servers / fresh TBC servers and fresh Wotlk, while maintaining some kind of healthy, playable population there.
Or we will have few abomination servers like mograin, gehannas etc. and rest one sided or dead, black lotus farming realms

they had like 50 servers in their pocket and only relased 3 of them for name reservation and kept continuing like that… maybe they learned
Classic is something like a museum of old arts for me. Yes, it has some pictures of ulgly children but it’s still has some interesting parts.

All those “good” expansions you named are trash.
Skipping TBC…

how are TBC and WOTLK bad? lol most people quit at cataclysm guess why is that?
i chuckled a bit
… but i would describe classic like weird amish community, where they are trying to live without any modern technology, preaching about good old ways and basicly wants you to suffer through your existence like in 1800 ( whole no changes movement ) . But on the other hand they are not ashamed to use anything to get edge in the game. ( whole ex boosting, sanctified exploiting ( sorry i meant clever usage of ingame mechanic ), bot farming, gold selling / buying ).
Sometimes i feel that whole classic is about make your opponent suffer more than you are suffering from playing this game.
WoW Classic is a 15 year old video game being played by streamer wannabes who don’t actually care about the game, just about beating it best and fastest. Nothing wrong with that, but people were disappointed with how retail evolved to suit a new player base that’s now doing nothing but moaning at the players who actually want to enjoy Classic.
Don’t get it twisted, brother. The majority of people like TBC and love WoTLK. Cata is generally poorly received and they can just about stand Mists and WoD is the antichrist, Legion was very much too little too late.
Personally I love Vanilla, TBC and early WoTLK before everything started to go downhill.

Not everybody; I play this thing only in preparation for TBC and also to kill some time

Becouse Cata content was 10 times harder than Wotlk?
Healers had to manage mana again when Wotlk got then used to have infinite mana regen.
Seems people have forgot the amount of whine treads just for the normal cata heroics.

Eh na I disagree. Vanilla-WotLK raids were harder overall. Cata healers were just tarded. Spoken as a healer from vanilla to last week.
Arthas wolrd first 25 HC took Paragon only 170 tries. http://www.paragon.fi/node/86.htm
Ragnaros 25 HC in Firelands took over 400 tries before Paragon got world first

Vanilla raids… hard? lol.
the game started going downhill in classic with xrealm bgs.
cata and mop were the best expansions, objectively better than wotlk and tbc. the only redeeming quality about tbc is that people like illidan.
the real problems with most expansions apart from tbc and wod were basically build up of poorly designed systems being kept after obviously being a complete failure.
such as xrealm bsg, xrealm dungeon finder, xrealm raid finder, pet battles and flying.
how many tbc servers have u played on the past 10 years
xD
That might have something to do with the Limited attempts per week on end bosses in WotLK, making it impossible to brute force the boss like they do in later expansions.
Ulduar: You had 1 hour to kill Algalon before he despawned for the week
TocG: 50 attempts per week
ICC: 45 attempts i think.
So you cannot compare number of wipes when you are talking about WotLK raids, cause there is a very different approach to it.
With limited attempts, every single attempt matter, basicly you do one try, discuss strategies for 20minutes before you do another attempt.
While when you have unlimited attempts like on Ragnaros, you just brute force until you manage to get further into the fight. which will dramaticly increase the amount of wipes you will have on a boss.
