Promises Broken

Well,

To nobody’s surprise, Blizzard has managed to break their housing promise they set forth.

Let me reiterate the thing they posted when Housing was revealed:

Philosophy and guiding principles

  • The VAST majority of housing items are (and will continue to be) earnable in-game. Only a small fraction is available for purchase from the shop. Comparing this number against collectibles such as mounts is a good metric here, with more than a thousand mounts earnable in-game and only a few dozen from the shop.
  • Housing items tired to core fantasies of a player’s race or class, or that already exist in Azeroth, won’t be sold in the shop. Thematically important decor that players know and love will also not appear in the shop.

So with the Ku’tiran housing now in the shop, it’s clear that Blizzard, and by extension Microsoft, have not upheld their promise to the housing community.
Can’t say that I am surprised, and I expected this to come, but it’s yet another reason to think about where I will be spending my money in the future.

I’d say that the promise was broken much earlier than this, this was simply the straw that broke the camel’s back.

I find it ridiculous that Alliance/Horde carpets are not available in game but need to be bought on the store instead.

I had a hunch it would happen, though I am surprised how soon it occurred.

My guess is all the overly cutesy decor wasn’t selling well at all. I have yet to see anyone use it across multiple visits to various neighbourhoods.

honestly shocked it took this long for blizzard to outright brake this promise in its entirety, like they were already pushing past the line before now

but this ?

nah this is just taking a dump on the line and full on 100 meter sprinting past it -.-

would say it is unacceptable but clearly whales are buying enough the feel safe not caring at all -.-

Yeah, but what about the shareholders? Have you thought about it? They only have something like 9 milion subs active. How will they live without those 10 bucks housing sets?

Came here to say the same. For me it hurts even more as a Kul Tiran main.

Blizzard is placed in a room with a key that opens the door to exit, and a shotgun to blow their jaw off.

…Seems like they chose the shotgun. Again.

When will you learn to never trust a word that comes out of Blizzards mouth. Their statements are worded by a team of lawyers.

Not the point.
This thread is a call-out for Blizzard.

Like Blizzard care. Everytime something like this happens, players threaten with this and that, but at the end of the day, they never follow through

Ingame: Countless recolors of the same boring mounts. Shop: Amazingly detailed and unique mounts.

Fixed that for them.

And once again, lies and disrespect.

I look at these things they try to sell and I wonder “why would I buy this?”

The decor I saw have weird shapes and colors that dont match with anything and I think there are quite a few parts already that give essentially same look.

The house?

I looked at some screenshots and I think a lot of stuff in it cannot be removed. They arent a blank canvas. They would disturb whatever Im trying to build. There is nothing in it that I would like to use. Nothing fits inside without looking out of place since the house is so out of place.

Im perfectly happy using the base stuff available to everyone and construct things out of those. I already have plans for the future. I have my main rooms and then Im thinking of expansion rooms. I have massive room which i have filled with Midnight stuff. When next expansion comes, I can make another room and fill it with that expansion decors. Like the midnight room. Eventually I can save old rooms as blueprints and so on. None of this buyable stuff would fit in. None of what I have would fit in into these buyable houses.

None of the buyable housing things so far have had the slightest interest to me yet, with exception of a few tiny pieces I saw, but those I dont really need, but they are nice looking. Thats not enough to buy them.

So my question is… why would anyone buy those. Those are essentially premade houses that you can only fit in the other sold pieces. At least easily. The base houses are blank canvas that “accepts” everything.

You’re being disingenuous, I don’t agree with anything regarding this to just be frank, Though the housing items in these bundles and the house fits my housing design perfectly and it also fits well with many other decors that have been added recently.

The issue here is that we’ve just been given a bundle that offers A LOT of imagination for certain individuals for housing me being one but its held behuind a £30 paywall, with decor you don’t even get unlimmited amounts of.

What’s even worse is that it’s on a 39 day timer.

Exactly and what I would want is a blank Kul Tiran style house without all the extra effects and tentacles. The chances that we’ll get a Kul Tiran house now earnable in-game has decreased since they chose to bring their version of a Kul Tiran house.

Also, my main is Alliance but I can’t help that the Horde is getting the short stick as the house that we got before this one was the Westfall barn. It’s time the Horde got some exteriors.

I am not that interested in housing, but this just makes it more daunting. The entire hearthsteel thingy needs to go imo.

This is true.

It is unlikely for blizz to release a ‘blank canvas’ kul tiran style house if shop has this kul tiras type house with all the effects slapped on it.

This makes me think, if they intend to make more of these, it will similarly lock out many things out that could and should be a base type that everyone should have access to.

Indeed, they even did it with the artisanal Kul Tiran room so a ‘blank style’ Kul Tiran artisinal room is out of the window as well probably. Very annoying. You are right that they could do this with more styles so the bigger the negative feedback on what they are doing now the better. I’ve given up hope of ever getting my Kul Tiran house as I expected it to be.
