Protadin new meta gold farm class in TBC?

Hey Guys,

What you think about this video from Metagoblin, he mentions a “Dr.Kael” a protadin who said he could farm approx 400 gold/h just be vendoring stuff from dungeons.

Any thoughts ?

Depends mostly on two factors:

  1. on how inflated the gold value is
  2. how popular boosting will be.

if the gold is very inflated, the raw gold prot paladins get from their AoE farms is hardly worth it

and if only a few people buy boosts you wont get much via that method either.

For mote farming (which will be most likely where most players get their gold) they gonna suck for sure solo in special on PvP servers.

I think we should also weigh in general player goals here: I know friends (and myself) who will barely buy anything in TBC after they get their flying mounts - pretty much only enchants and gems - as they’ll be focusing on PvP, however they want a farm that is easy to do, but still rewards quite a bit of gold. If that 500gold / hour lives up to it’s reputation, I can see it being spammed all day for some easy gold.

yeah but getting a prot paladin ready gear-wise for a time efficent AoE farm isn’t that easy, while as a mage in classic for example you can pretty much do all that naked.

also I just noticed he refered to vanilla dungeons on TBC private servers. those were usually not very well scripted, with trash not doing spells etc…

so I would take that 500g/h statement with a big grain of salt.

We can compare fixed revenue (vendoring) with changing fixed costs, and maybe we estimate some points.

Even now, a herbalist’s, or badlands ee farmer’, or a sm booster’ gph is around 125+.

400 gph will be just “meh” in tbc.

And im 100% sure -with all these bot fest-, we will see a 1m+ gbid on warglaives at some point.

After you get your Epic flying, there is not much else to spend money on in TBC.

Alch’s can choose either Flask Mastery or Elixir Mastery, which makes gold farming pointless towards that area.
Unless you are super interested in being PreRaid BiS, but then you need to choose a specific profession and some of those items are BoP.

In my time on TBC PServers that seems to be the case anyway.

twinks, arena/bis boost, it can be even more valuable than it was in classic tbh, game by itself is on another level, student reached high school.

oh yeah forgot about this. in special with the gladiator flying mounts I think we gonna see some high raiting boost costs

45 seconds in. He is completely wrong. The AOE limit does not hard cap the amount of enemies an aoe ability can affect. What it does, is limit the amount of damage an aoe ability can deal to 1000% of it’s base damage.
The 11th enemy will not take 0% damage. The 11th enemy will take 1000% / 11 = 90.9% damage from the aoe ability.
If you try to hit 100 mobs, the damage will be 10% per mob.

Metagoblin is not a good source of knowledge. He basically just googles stuff, then makes a video about it. Many videos about it. With distressing regularity, there are basic mistakes in almost all of his videos.

This is so true.
Take metagoblin with a mountain of salt.

wait, isn’t that the guy who also predicted that the TBC “speedrun” setup will be like 9 affliction warlocks? topkek

Yes that’s him.

From what I’ve seen of his content he’s a complete clown.

yeah the only thing you gonna speedrun with 9+ affliction warlocks in TBC is the debuff limit of the boss

On the other hand, 9 destro fire locks with 3 boomies and 3 ele shamans might actually cause some game breaking in later tiers.
