[PSA] Dream Dust in the Swamp

This a warning for those who might want to attempt this quest as part of the 1 hour swamp of sorrows tour on the way to nethergarde keep like at least one leveling guide recomends (which involves some supplies to nethergarde that expire after an hour).

This quest has both bad drop rates and an even worse mob (green whelp) respawn rate. It can also be contested by other players even on early in the morning (!) The mobs do not get any forced respawns when they are all dead.

If you are trying to tour the swamp in an hour you better either skip that quest or get the timed supplies for nethergarde delivery quest first so that you will not fail it.
Whoever wrote such leveling guides did not take into account how many people are playing in classic.

Hopefully this saves some people some frustration

Gathered 10 in 5 minutes with another player doing the same. RNG i guess

Probably. I started alone with no other players and I only got 5/10 when I came back later after doing something else while waiting for respawns I found to my displeasure that another 2 players had come making it a game of corpsecamping the whelps for respawns.

I’ve done this quest twice. Both times it took about 30 minutes to complete which is long.

Go there at a little higher level, 42-43 maybe, and you can farm wyrmkin in the eastern side, next to the coast, instead. I was totally alone there after insane competition at the whelp place.

Not true, I spendt some time there grinding - when there was a lot of players in the swap they would re-spawn so quickly I barely had time to kill the allies that came there to kill them.

it is unreasonable to do at 42 a level 35 quest

At least you had something else to kill while waiting. Including competition.

Nah, its not unreasonable since you can get all the exp rewarded from the quest. Besides, you have other quests such as the murloc, the escort, etc requiring higher levels than 35.
