We can have Alliance discord without it being, y’know, half-measures.
The Gilnean/Night Elf vengeance brigade are right there. As are the Draenei, with getting a Bit Too Zealous.
Frankly, though, they entirely missed the Interesting Divisions cutoff point, the ship sailed, the ladder was pulled up, the potential is a fading speck on the horizon. BFA as a leadup to an Old God expansion was the perfect time to have strife and disharmony and mistrust, bad blood boiling to the surface (literally…) and all that.
But nope. We got turbomegahell instead. Bo-ring.

Genn during Legion was really good, completely shoving the Legion aside to get revenge, chasing Sylvanas to Helheim and back and even destroying her macguffin (which ultimately meant nothing but ok)
He should’ve kept that energy going through BfA, Alliance could’ve ended up with a small splinter faction of loose cannons out for vengeance and Anduin has to go through his whole “oh no how can I become a good leader like my father” arc by dealing/mending this rift.
Meanwhile, in shadowlands, the expansion centered around his eternal nemesis, he’s reduced to old man yells at cloud

Not because Blizzard is disinterested in faction war narratives but because they’re not interested in any conflict we have existing information for and might reasonably know about or think is even remotely nuanced

Why didn’t Elune stop Sylvanas from burning Teldrassil? Because it was literally Elune’s will, albeit a past version of herself.
Why did Elune stop Tyrande from killing Sylvanas? Can’t kill your past self, that creates a time paradox, Snake!
How do you write Sylvanas out without killing her? Turn her into the moon goddess of course.

this was just a long con to get as many of night elves into elune’s embrace (those most welcoming by dying on teldrassil were given a peaceful death too)
since fatesylvanas needed to break the maw to further her own goals into elune’s heaven, we needed shadowlands for heaven to work again
