The sitting is broken in the exact same way…

It’s not even that this theorycrafting “content” is the effect of inhaling too much copium or burned Blizzard dollars, but that it’s also written in such a cringe-inducing way.

“Her puny shadow magic is, however, no match for the Jailer’s death magic reflexes and he catches the arrow - and we know she’s the fastest shot in the west, so wow!”

every second sentence is written like that.

it’s like they don’t even want anyone to treat this garbage seriously. is that intentional??

Well it isn’t for Thalassian types anymore!

half of the text reads like high school essays

Further jarring theories is their idea that she’ll be treated diffirent cause of her soul possibly being returned, as if a change of heart(soul) suddenly wipes away all the Crimes she has commited, regardless of conciousness, that people, victims would consider mercy.

And worst is, it wouldn’t be too far fetched for Blizz to let this be reason enough to give her a pass.

A terrible message to send to their audience.

and they will do this, because it’ll be the exact same argumentation they use to say anduin wasn’t responsible for any of his actions.

“I’m sorry judge, I diden’t mean to kill all those people with my reckless driving, I was under the influence”

Hit and Run driver released, case dismissed

hey man she was sober when she entered the car but then a snowstorm traveled back in time and forced her to actually have been madly drunk and off her rocks all along and said snowstorm only just let go

surely the judge understands that time travelling snowstorms are beyond her

And most certainly will the families of the dead victims let it go.

What do you mean? Saurfang doesn’t have any family left

It highly disturbs me this off trend that people are pushing that her being done wrong by fate or in this case, by the hands of the Jailer means that she has no responsabilities over her actions, that they were akin to someone blinded and caused a pile-up as they crossed the highway. Don’t even get me started about the absolute pea-brains who wanna push the message that she was some sort of weird IRL abuse victim.

This nonsense is coming a lot from American medias, I could go on for a while about it but I best not. Full soul or not, it’s still that very existing part of that person who commited these actions, Teldrassil is on her orders (I’d be interested in seeing how the average dead citizen of the shadowlands from both Lordaeron and Teldrassil would react if they weren’t aware of that fact.) it’s not a free out of Jail(er) card.

Ugh… I seriously dread what’s gonna be the next cinematic like, apparently there’s another 2 mins of that at the end of the renown thing for this patch.

BREAKING NEWS! Sylvanas Windrunner to plead the Fifth Amendment in upcoming war crimes tribunal. More at 11 on ABC News!

They’re just lorebreakers if they don’t, smfhhhhhh

Why? It’s sound logic, in-universe, to say that if someone’s soul was ravaged the way Sylvanas’ was, as in her “Good” half got locked up in Gay Jailer Jail, and the evil, Jailer-controlled bit was calling the shots, then they aren’t fully responsible for their actions. You can’t hold a valid tribunal for someone who is either scizophrenic or was not in control of their own functions. That genocidal warpath Sylvanas orchestrated was at the hands of a very angry, unholy aberration who was also <<< corrupted >>> and <<< controlled >>> by a much stronger entity.

… Up until it was convenient for the plot that she isn’t. Either thanks to a bunch of murderhobos beating sense into her or by the strength of her pure vanilla-scented mary sue mental check roll, she broke the Jailer’s conditioning at the exact moment it made no sense at all. Now that she has been made whole anyone passing judgement over her for her actions as the Banshee Queen is at fault.

All the above is sound and fits the general storyline and that’s the core of the issue. Blizzard, Danuser, Golden, whoever else cooperated in making an absolutely abysmal heap of retcons and character developments that enable this tripe and they somehow managed to ruin the foundations of canon lore as well while dedicating their efforts in such a way. The general downward spiral in quality in many aspects produces these trashcan moments.

i mean, it depends on what blizzard does with it really. if she has just straight up been a husk on strings since arthas teleported in front of her, she should by all rights be off the hook on this one, which does seem to be getting implied to some degree.

Or maybe that isn’t the case at all and it was still a very real part of her, but a part of her that was completely shattered by soulsnatching magic

or, maybe, the part of her we’ve seen was only a small nudge beyond what she’d normally be capable of.

or, maybe

who cares it’s not like blizzard thinks about it at all until it’s 1 week before patch day like they’re making a south park episode

blizzard could do a bit of interesting storytelling by having a conflicting moral issue of someone who was absolutely not in control of their body (such as sylvanas being puppeteered since arthas teleport) being tried for genocide against a race who will want to have her head either way for vengeance

because do you then execute a seemingly innocent character, or let the character go and also likely not have the race find ‘justice’*

but it’s blizzard, so it’ll likely just be handwaved away and the night elves will just be ‘oh sorry that happened to u sylvie we’re sorry we were mad for u xx we didn’t know

*this also might not be interesting storytelling after all since im currently also just tired

Usualy, in our own reality the offender if not of Sound mind, having personality disorder forexample which seems to be the closest thing to Sylvanas’s theorised case.

The offender would get into an Asylum to be treated if it can be proven that the mental illness was the cause of it, usualy for life.

Locked away from society to never be able to harm again.

oh it’s super interesting and ff14 did it really well with a character in their game that was specifically designed for such a story arc where it ended in a decently satisfying way.

Emphasis on specifically designed. Not ‘decided in the last minute to be subject to such a story arc’

yeah but mind/soul-screwing magic kinda puts a spin on that where there is no mental illness at all and it’s just someone that got screwed over
