idk i think im just kinda drawing a parallel to the winter soldier arc from MCU? but i haven’t watched/consumed marvel so i wouldn’t know how it goes
especially when these things are hard to draw parallels into real life to, because this isn’t exactly just a mental illness that makes someone a danger to be locked away for life
it sounds like sylvanas currently is of sound mind so idk
however, it is a little bit of lazy storytelling for sylvanas to just be handwaved away as ‘oh she was just always controlled by jailer woobiewoo’ because blizzard is not clever enough to actually have intended the player character to also feel ‘oh zoinks she’s actually evil’ and have the wool pulled over our eyes by playing with the emotions
because blizzard 100% just conjured this up yesterday, not planned it out since wotlk

blizzard said they wanted morally gray characters but didn’t have either thrall/jaina/bolvar just smashing sylvanas’s head in with the big hammers or magic smh

Well, tbf Anduin is currently actually being controlled, dominated. At best Sylvanas bought into a story she wanted to believe in. Even with only her “angry” soul she was still capable of logical thinking and active decision making. That being said I would not mourn both of their stories ending in SL (like that will happen lol).

Both are seemingly forced to act against their normal by bdsm magic, ripping out someone’s good half and then going ‘look, they’re doing bad things!’ isn’t exactly reasonable as far as fair judgment goes.
But there is a distinct diffirence between the two, Anduin is completly emotionless with no interactions with the world around him except for swinging his Blade.
While Sylvanas interact Constantly with the world around her, shows her doubts and hints of regrets throughout the Shadowlands cinematics even up until her very act of defiance.
And regardless of her soul’s condition prior to Shadowlands, the world has seen,heard and felt her actions, actions that has left many victims to mourn their dead, the last thing they’d consider, is wether her actions really were her own.
From anger and desire for vengance alone, they’d want her dead, Even if she just is a scapegoat.
