Jesus that was quick.

WoW recycling assets is a staple since forever, really. Putting the mount concept art into the cosmology seems like a sound cost saving measure.

Sigh.

Really telling when a fan can crack out a better cinematic in two weeks than the million dollar company can in 9 months.

Now now, be fair.

It was more like 1 month since thats when they start writing the lore.

Gods, Garrosh is such an orcisly Orc. He truely was the best of the Horde in one package…

I was ‘meh’ about Garrosh, mostly for starting the ‘Horde civil war’ trend and dragging us to WoD…

But gotta 100% respect someone having the moment of clarity to make him an unapologetic Megatron type character, in the best way. He is secure in his convictions, his view and his path. Fair play (as a character)

But remember everyone, “Chronicles is subjective!
So is the opinion that Everything is Just Fine the way it is now. Oh, and really this is all the Big Brain plays that have been planned all along. Honest!

Them being subjective defeats the point. We want to know what the universe is like, not what someone in it thinks it is like. That is useless.

There was a time and a place for a subjective view of the setting’s universe.

It was probably before the initial chronicles was published as an objective lorebook. And also before we went totally cosmic in the setting.

A subjective view of beliefs from like…Brann Bronzebeard’s perspective back in Wrath? I’d have been pretty hyped for that, because it would be talking about what azerothians believe about stuff.

Getting “Titan viewpoint” and “Broker viewpoint” is like…eh.

Majority of my characters don’t even know a Broker or Titan(forged) personally, so why would they care about their views?

I mean if you bought Chronicles you basically bought the equivalent of really nicely formatted AA fanfic

hahahahahahahah

In hindsight, yea…

Sadly when it was announced it was as the “bible of Warcraft lore” or whatever…:weary:

Can hardly blame people for having a 180 pulled on them because someone wanted to retcon stuff to fit THEIR narrative, not the established lore narrative.

Danuser. Looking at you.

I preferred the original cosmology map in Chronicles. It had more detail to it and seemed less obviously biased in favor of the supposed author. This new map puts Death right at the top, effectively suggesting that it is the most important aspect represented (because this is the expansion about death, see) whereas Chronicles, the supposed Titan-made document, does not put Order on top of the cosmology chart but rather Light, which makes more sense since the universe was allegedly created by the clash of light and shadow.

Or maybe they changed their minds about that.

The original Chronicles was not made with the intent of it being a biased account. Metzen’s foreword linked by Kaytlinne above makes that much obvious.

Yet another example of prior lore being cannibalized by the new direction.

honestly gna sue blizz for false advertising

i thought it was gna be objective! and meta commentary! as advertised !!

and it wasn’t, so i have a clear cut case to win million bucks off bobby no??

The new Broker book also implies that the Chronicles (or at least the chart) is available to our characters, since the writer was shown the cosmology map by a mortal from Azeroth. I’m not sure if I like that, tbh. It gives more substance to walking encyclopedia characters…
