Chronicles was supposed to be the lore bible. Grimoire does read like narrow propaganda. The truth will be someplace inbetween in a third collection of lore books.
I had typed a bunch of dull paragraphs, but everything I had to say boils down to this:
I hope that no one actually buys this monetized lore that will be contradicted with the next content patch and be absolutely irrelevant by the beginning of the next expansion. I also hope that no one will buy any of the subsequent “lore bibles” that will be released for each of the following expansions. Heck, I hope that no one even pirates them. It’s not like any of the information within will be useful for roleplaying anyway, unless you’re playing an all-knowing prophet.
Warcraft lore doesn’t feel like it resembles a world so much as it resembles a bunch of freshly-introduced “questions” nobody except the most boring mage roleplayers asked, then exists to sell you the answers
