Calling it elaborate is too bloody generous. It’s elaborate in the same way that pornography can be elaborate - It’s got a good budget, some recognisable faces, but the plot’s awful and you feel ashamed for having watched it once it’s all over.
nah the plot in pornography is better at this point
and actually produces funny memorable moments sometimes, unlike shadowlands which just inflicts pain
“In front of my salad?”
Really? Right infront of Elunes Salad?
Aaaah, a new blackmail worthy content to my collection.
wdym are you not a fan of billy (F) ?
perfection.
in the salad
blizzard pouring salt into the wounds brrrrrt
Just eat around it.
My only regret is that I’ve already unsubbed and uninstalled so I can’t send people a screenshot of me doing so as a meme.
You know, in and of itself I don’t think this is bad. It checks quite a few tropes that I like with gods and deities in fiction and myth, like their not caring about mortal lives, constantly exploiting them for their own ends, seeing them as a statistic for a “grand plan” to aid the universe etc etc… the problem I have is that they did it with Elune.
Someone that’s always been depicted as benevolent. Someone that’s always seemed to give preferential treatment to her worshippers, even going so far as to personally rescue Ysera’s soul. Elenthas already wrote a great post on this stuff, but this was absolutely not the character to tell this story with. Odyn being a dick is fair writing, I like his depiction, but reducing Elune to just another godlike figure we can speak to (and who’s apparently also a loser) is
Elunite Nightborne rekt again
I agree with you, that part was really tone deaf and doesn’t sit right with me, especially its implications in light of the recent lawsuit which makes it feel distasteful at best and disgusting at worst. Everything up until that point, I didn’t have a problem with.
Elune’s always been a distant goddess whose influence in the world has never been depicted as being omnipotent. The highlight of her divine intervention is on the scale of claiming Ysera’s soul, redeeming a satyr, and granting the priests a quick death by putting them to sleep before the fires get to them. Not unburning Teldrassil.
With the level of power people demand Elune to be capable of (despite never being shown doing it), you’d think Elune would have also destroyed Archimonde with a snap of her fingers during the Third War and stop Nordrassil’s destruction.
Or destroy Ragnaros during his attack on Mount Hyjal.
Or destroy the Horde in Ashenvale during Vanilla/Cata
Or destroy the Qiraji during War of the Shifting Sands.
Or destroy the Satyr during War of the Satyr.
Or destroy the Burning Legion during the War of the Ancients.
Yeah. Elune was never that powerful.
Or maybe she is super powerfull, but;
Always just was her stick, forcing her followers to figure it out for themselves until she was really needed.
Akin to her protecting Tyrande during the WoTA(I think)
I haven’t even seen the cinematic yet, due to being at work.
And I can already feel my soul withering with the Awful. Ugh.
Save your soul… Don’t watch it
Well, correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the Eternal ones themselves not know how/what caused the drought? I can imagine Elune didn’t know either if that were the case.
She could have tried to find out, maybe, but perhaps it was a case of “I’ll give them what I think they need and just don’t look back on it”.
At least that’s how I see it.
Idk making Tyrande immune to all damage and so that she didn’t starve/die of dehydration is pretty potent I think.
Shame she couldn’t muster up some of that strength to stop the catapults hitting Teldrassil in the first place.
Should have sniped them mid-air with beams like draenei do in WoD
draenei tech more powerful than elune confirmed?
Night Elves have enchants that do the same… Its how they kept Illidan alive and imprisoned for 10k years…
