PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 1)

Blizzard also makes more money with it. Since buying the token to sell it for gold costs about 20 euro.

But someone buying it for gold to get Blizz money, it gives 13 euro’s worth.

Soy moment.

This isn’t even exaggeration. I’ve literally seen comments like this, with the exact same goofy 2008-speak.

The WoW token was such a small change at the time yet such a small thing did/does a lot of harm to the game.

FFXIV on the other hand is strong in many aspects whereas WoW-… no explanation needed. I am against store mounts in general but that is mainly cause of the state of WoW. I think if WoW was still the :crown: amongst MMO’s, I think even people like Asmongold who salted his hair twice upon the release of some store mounts, wouldn’t care that much.

Same

:trolldespair:

While I don’t really want to defend store only items like mounts and cosmetic, another big difference is the price tags. Going onto the FF mog-station/store, the items available are mostly in the price range of like 2-4 euro. Mounts maybe 5-10.

Meanwhile Blizzard be like “You want a fugly helmet transmog? 20 euro please.”

Wow token isn’t bad in isolation. However, with how commom boosting, BiS BoP’s etc became in BfA… and then legendary prices in SL… It has started to become apparent that WoW token is no longer about helping ppl who have little gold to get it, but rather another money transfer that the game actively encourages u to do.

If this cat was €50 you’d still be seeing some people buy it.

Oh I know, and it’s depressing.

Considering what was going on with that one dev, I wouldnt put it past them to make their own official version of boosting.

For money of course, gold won’t be allowed.

The chocobo carriage mount I think is around 20. But that’s a mount that can carry four people and is dope as hell.

Imagine having something like that for RP in WoW. The model already exists Blizzard.

Gilean Wagon mount, part of a 2000 euro bundle if you buy 5 years of gametime. Limited time only!

I wanted a cool plane mount for my Gnome pilot character for years.

Then Blizzard finally delivered with a damn recruit a friend promotion.

The only FF store thing I got is the Songbird outfit that my husband bought for me. It was like 2 euro.

That hurt me so much. Especially when they teased it with a flight-whistle upgrade.(Which also isn’t account-bound).

I have it and I low-key hate it because it looks terrible on a Gnome which it should look best on. You can’t reach the handle bars/wheel and because it’s a two person mount it’s just not size proportionate. Imho.

Hate cash shops in both games tbh. There’s no excuse for games that have a buy-in price, expansions and a subscription to also sell stuff on the side, even if “its just cosmetics”.

I’d rather they both did away with it. The only reason ffxiv cash shop makes me groan less is because the game isn’t choking on its own :poop: for years and it doesn’t sell the token, which is an actual cancer of this game.

Edit, reminded by Dadamito: also ffxiv shop isn’t accessible in game and you actually have to go out of your way to spend money, thus being a little less predatory for those who have trouble controlling themselves.

Cash shops are my worst enemy because I can’t control my spending habits as it is and I don’t need extra encouragement.

I’ve luckily been very restrained with the FF14 one all things considered. I’m only ever about five seconds away from buying the chocobo carriage though, it’s a dangerous tight rope.

Also the promotional meat-wagon mount for WC3: Reforged.

Perfect undead RP item. Shame it was only as a pre-order bonus for a limited time and also tied to a pretty horrible game. And also costed the life of the old wc3 game.

More games should be like Stardew Valley. You can get all sort of additional hats and cosmetics.

Simply by purchasing them from a little rat hat vendor. And you unlock them by doing stuff ingame like making friends or planting crops.

Edit: Oh and you buy it with the ingame currency, bc there is no other currency.
