PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 1)

Patch 5.2 was the Thunder King, which is the king :crown: patch in my opinion. I think it was the best patch they’ve ever made due to having something for everyone along with a kingly raid.

Ah, that. Yeah TK was great for the most part. That time though it didn’t follow a series of underwhelming patches in a subpar expansion.

I want Danuser and Golden + everyone else who has worked with the story of shadowlands and bfa and parts of legion. That includes the cinematics.

They are garbage at their jobs, plain and simple. I don’t care about who is in the end responsible for what because we will never know because blizzard doesn’t reveal it. All i need to know is that all of them do a shoddy job, thats all that matters.

It really was the peak of the game for me. Lovely expansion, lovely patch, lovely raid, cool villain (shallow, but that’s okay - he was cool and there was no fake mystery around his motives) and a cool zone.

It’s funny.

I never gave two sh*ts about Lei-Shen. He was a damn loot piñata with little lore to his name, and even less of a damn given to it after I’d put my axe into his face.

But now, years later, I appreciate the effort. The effort that are, apparently, making an antagonist have clear-cut motives and a past history within the setting.

'member back when they made raids with a theme, not with a place in the overarching story?

I’d 100% take a cartoonishly evil guy whose whole thing is that he enslaves everyone and lays gods low over a mystery man who won’t wear a shirt, who wanted to go to Zereth Mortis all along. You know, that place we only knew about when the patch was announced.

“I am Lei Shen, slayer of kings and gods. You have made a grave mistake.” is also a badass quote.

I remember when I used to feel excited for patches, rather than dramatically rolling my eyes at the announcements.

Sure, MoP added a lot of new things and was relatively self-contained, but my attitude about it wasn’t nearly so negative. It felt like they weren’t just milking old successes with that expansion, unlike the ones since.

Lei Shen was always cool to me, but what really made him pop was the expanding he received with Chronicles. It solidified him in lore and neatly tied him to other characters and areas in the game, as if he had been there all along without any retcons or need to insert him places he didn’t belong. I wish Zovaal was implemented the same way, because I think he could have been a very interesting villain – but alas, here we are.

Lei Shen also had a killer introduction through the trailer. Remember when they used to make you actually go soyjak over the patch? 5.2 and 5.3 had killer patch trailers I don’t think have been upped yet. Legion tried some and were okay, but still meh. 5.2 and 5.3 were the gold nuggets.

He should have been the last boss of MoP. Imo his death was bit anticlimatic. He’s been stated to be able to 1v1 Arthas himself and is quite literally a godly entity in terms of destructive power with lightning. Needing some actual magical assistance or intervention of a major character would have been good.

Yeah I guess. To be honest, I also found those two thingies on his platform (those on the thumbnail) look a bit silly, like such a big deal is made out of focusing on him gripping those and…

… what are those? Are those important? I felt like I was missing something and that was just a bit bizarre.

Originally he was supposed to be drawing power from where he stood, but then they decided instead of making him a battery he’d be a charger. He’s essentially infusing his own power within the place to cause whatever spells come from those conduits. Like trying to knock you down. Overall him infusing someone is very prominent, he created storm infused trolls like Drakkari dires labelled God Hulks.

yeah but in the trailer it just looks like he’s :flushed: by getting the zaps from them

i get that eventually in the fight you actually see them in action, but i just found it rly funny and weird in the trailer when it was released

Haha yeah, it’s always funny when the ancient tyrants who brought utter misery to people under them manage to look absolutely goofy

Another fake 4chan leak.

But imagine it.

I don’t think that’s happening.

As far as I understand it, you’re grinding up Pelagos’ soul into a new battery for the Arbiter, but the Arbiter stays the same and Pelagos (as a person) is gone. Just a battery now.

I life for leaks like that tbf.

I mean, even just entirely discounting that the Arbiter is presented as female.

Introducing a trans character and then feeding him to a machine god as fuel in the same expansion is an absolute bury your gays trans moment

I expect them to put their foot in their own mouth on this one… They’ll do it with the abysmal lack of self awareness they’ve consistently displayed.
