PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 1)

He means to say that Pelagos “transitioned” into male when he became Kyrian and so making him a female again as arbiter would be a weirdchamp move.

At least that’s how I understood.

Ya mean “Hunger Games” the Battle Royale clone?

The most famous that they named the genre after it?

The only people who think thats a weirdchamp move are transphobic themselves, tbqh.

I mean, why are Trans-men held to a different standard then straight-men??? Isn’t that the whole point of trans-phobia, that trans people are held to a different standard?

(Ofcourse I might misunderstand it totally???)

My point is that it’s problematic either way, as you’re simply put putting a male character into a female body, not that there’s a different standard. Being straight is again a useless descriptor.

Yes, that’s what Meruru is saying. Moridunum wanted to contrast a straight male for some reason, which again, Pelagos is.

(I really think he means to use cis instead of straight there, but I’m only pulling your nose Moridunum  )

my entire point is that you’re contrasting straight men (which pelagos is as well) with other straight men!

That is true, yet Battle Royale and hunger Games are sufficiently different, so I can even calmly accept HG taking inspiration from BR, rather than copying it.

Pardon?

All I said is that from what we’ve seen this story has a potential to be offputting if not handled correctly, while the transphobia comment was a joke referencing the fact JK Rowling has some bad takes on the topic. I think you’re making a mountain out of a molehill, bud.

Absolutely hate this sort of discourse where you’ll see someone posting about a rabid meltdown and it’s just someone saying “man, I don’t know about this.”

I think we’ve had a misunderstanding here.

Excuse me for not keeping up with everything in the Gay/Lesbian/Bi/Trans community. Its alot to suddenly take in the last few years and I am just learning to grasp the names in gay culture. (apparently there are bears, otters, twinks, and some more then)

No worries - cis in very simple terms means opposite of trans. Straight is not the descriptor you’d use, as that’s a sexuality!

Anyway my second point also stands - IMO it would be a very weirdchamp move for a male character, cis or trans, to be put into a female body for Reasons. (You probably meant trans men are held to a different standard than cis men.)

In Pelagos’s case, I’ll simply wait for the actual thing to happen as maybe the Arbiter model for him (if he does become the Arbiter) might be different.

I’m likely in the minority here, but Zereth Mortis looks fine to me. It isn’t blowing me away like Ardenweald’s previews did back in the day, but it certainly looks more interesting than Korthia.

I don’t think it looks terrible, it’s a lot better than Korthia which was a literal eyesore. But it’s not amazing. I think a lot of the stuff just comes from the video overhyping a lot. The meme water, on its own, is completely innocuous and would probably make a few people go “huh, neat” if they didn’t spend like 20 seconds talking about it in the video.

20 seconds isn’t a lot on its own, but in the context of a 8 minute video it does raise an eyebrow a little.

There’s a lot of saying it’s otherworldly and all that and it really just looks like any other Titan playground zone, which tend to be pretty good.

deffo!

Mate, I didn’t even know cis was different from straight.

I don’t want to ruin’s anyone’s future outbursts; but I am almost(99%) sure he won’t end up in the Arbiters body or as her battery. He’ll be a cool af male Arbiter.

Oh it was definitely a weird feature to linger on, but I think the internet has meme’d that take to hell and back by now. Justly so, but still.

Same for me. The zone imo is beautiful, but it’s not even in the slightest a “alien, never seen before world” as they put it. Literally Nagrand and voldun with bits of oribos scattered around.

You only need to take one look at a place like Deepholm, outdated as its design may be, to realize just how down to earth the visuals in Zereth Mortis are. You can stand in a lake of quicksilver and see infinity reflect from above you while an Alliance gunship lists around the sky like a dying whale.

Not sure if you’re trying to jab at me for a singular joke that didn’t land for you or if you’re suspecting malding in the future from Twitterlets. Twitterlets are always mad so this is self fulfilling. Like I say, was joking and this is born of a misunderstanding. If it’s the former it’s pretty weirdchamp and you’ve made a mountain out of a molehill and drive by insults aren’t cool bro. If not then I aplogize for insinuating the possibility.

If you want to know why people think he’s going to be a battery it’s because they datamined the normal Arbiter as being in a new pose. It definitely has a possibility of being scuffed, especially when Blizzard’s general writing has been… uh, not good?

Honestly not a fan of those types of videos in general and I’d just prefer a straight up tour of the zone. I wanted to know a lot more about the gameplay, while the rest speaks for itself. Like sure, you arrive and it’s foggy or whatever but I want to know more about the gameplay which they take a while to get into. They also 100% should have shown the mythic sets first because they look a lot better than the normal mode ones. Granted I know not many people raid mythic, but I think they leave a stronger impression.

Deepholm, many Outland zones, Argus (that sky box is top tier) and more. Nobody’s got a good shot of the Zereth Mortis sky that I could find but it’s a little odd but nothing that’ll blow your mind.

Showing that dk set on a panda was certainly a choice they made.

The DK set, as presented in the video, made him look like a Sans meme.

I think 9.2 is fine in a time where fine isn’t quite cutting it for a fanbase who feel starved of content. If Shadowlands had a better patch cycle I don’t think people would be quite happy, this is the WoW fanbase after all, but there’d be significantly less discontent for sure.

There’s other problems there for sure like how every expansion we need to fight Blizzard on features where they’re adamant there’ll be no changes to it in the .0 patch, then they budge a little in .1 but not as much as people like, then by .3 they’ve finally budged but by the next .0 we’ve got to do it all over again.

Perhaps. Personally, the absurdity of the story is what magnifies my discontent with 9.2. Content just seems like more of the same, with slightly more QoL and even if we forget about the horrid patch delays and all other stuff, I think I would still remain unsubbed.

Not only because there is just nothing that interests me (I managed to stifle the FOMO urges somehow), but also because there is just so much new stuff coming out in the coming months (EW, Elden Ring, TwW3 and a bunch of other stuff). Between all of that and irl obligations, I just don’t see what is there for me to give my money and time for.

I think a lot of people were hoping that 9.2 would be the patch that wins a lot of people back given the amount of time we waited for a very milquetoast .1 patch. It’s not the first time they’ve lost a bunch of subscribers only to make a baller .2 patch, but I don’t think they delivered this time.

I am, of course, referring to 5.2. Which, dare I say, is the best patch they’ve ever made?

I forget, 5.2 was the Krasarang campaign in Pandaria, or was it the selfie cam patch in wod?

I do agree that every patch brings players back, myself included. Not this time though.
