PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 1)

I still don’t get why Baine is present past the point of getting freed. He’s literally just a dude. A guy. No powers or anything. Go back and help the Horde or something.

The scary thing is that I can imagine this actually happening.

Except not really because that would imply Blizzard would change the old world, and they can’t do that on the shoestring budget that the latest couple of expansions have been using.

Anduin was literally just a guy aswell, until they gave him Super Sayain Light and the unability to lie powers. :man_shrugging:t3:

Anduin used to be pretty interesting in Cata/MoP. He wasnt a fighter like his father or a full on pacifist. He was pragmatic, and had an affinity for shadow magic and mind control.

Then poof, all gone.

I mean, he has a powerful connection with the Light and is trained by Velen himself. He can do something special. Jaina is one of the strongest mages alive. Thrall is a natural-born leader, though I can’t see much of any reason to keep him beyond that.

But Baine is just a warrior. Not even like the cool in-game class warrior.

We desperately need a new cast if they’re gonna keep going with these poor cosmic plots. That would spare us Danuser’s ruination of established characters too, maybe.

This has been WoW’s big flaw for years now. We do get/got some interesting side characters, but thats all they remain as, side characters, who are left eventually and forgotten. Warcraft & WoW has just been going along with the basically same cast for nearly 2 decades, but has not set up any replacements or a 2nd generation or anything.

I think Baine is the only one, since Cairne was his predecessor storywise, but Baine has almost no character to speak of.

Anduin, Calia, Bayne, Voss - and hey, Sylvanas is as good as new, too!
SQUAD!

Hope the Crown of Wills gives every mindless undead on Azeroth full sapiency.

Think it’d be funny.

Jaded as I may be, Sylvanas facing the Arbiter and passing on to a proper afterlife after the Jailer is defeated would not be a terrible way to end her story. In fact, that was what I suggested on this forum before we were hit with 9.1’s rEdEmPtIoN aRc.

My personal preferred conclusion back then would be seeing her go to Revendreth, which was basically tailor-made for people like the Banshee Queen, with a glimmer of hope for redemption in the distant future. It would be a nice bittersweet and thematically consistent ending. But knowing Danuser, he wouldn’t have introduced a “sowwy wuzn’t me” twist* if he had been planning to have Sylvanas actually face any consequences for her actions.

So they’ll probably ship her directly to Ardenweald, do not pass go, do not collect 200 gold.

Sigh.

* that we all saw coming as soon as that Vereesa story surfaced

This is the way to write her out, but I do not believe they will do so due to her merchandising.

Notably they gave her the dark ranger outfit back in her new model, and that is what the bust has. I believe that with such a pricey piece of merch so closely released to 9.2 they would not simply go  bye and move on.

Perhaps I’m wrong, but to me it tells me they’re not getting rid of her. She ‘survived’ the expansion’s events (in one form or another), she gets a pseudo, weaksauce, redemption stuff, and her merch is still dropping like it’s hot. This tells me that she’s staying. No Revendreth, no Ardenweald, no Titan Queen.

But I suppose when the 10.0 announcement trailer drops in February we’ll find out for realsies.

Ahahahahahahaaaaa

Nice one

As for merchandise, I don’t know. Illidan was and still is massively popular, yet they wrote him out of the story and gave him a thematic conclusion of sorts. We’ll see.

Shadowlands announcement came before 8.3
BfA’s announcement came before 7.3.5
Legion’s announcement was a month or so after 6.2

February might be ‘optimistic’ but since 9.2’s the last patch of Slands it’s not unreasonable, especially since February was when the Blizzconline was originally meant to be before getting canned.

Poor Abominations, Flesh Titans, stitched together other Undead abominations :frowning:

Ah, the Echo Isles, centre of Trollish civilization, superior to Quel’Thalas and Suramar combined.

Yeah I wouldn’t be too surprised. They also kind of really, really need to distract people with the new, impending shiny instead of Shadowlands, tbh

Please make whatever point it is you are trying to make.

Whatever that “shiny” is gonna be…

We all know its undoubtly gonna be worse then Shadowlands.

Deep down, we all know it.

Multiple souls shoved into a single body struggling to come to terms with what they are? Sounds like a certain Warchief and future High Queen of the Alliance to me…
