PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 1)

They dont at all. Alot of things made it happen, for example zone scalling that makes new players skip all of previous stories that were still tied to Warcraft 3 and 2 and that made us fall in love with this game. Like u said its all souless now

Sometimes I forget I’m talking to people who started playing in BfA (why??? what made you choose this game???), because I’m so used to thinking everyone started in Vanilla/TBC.

It’s a bit perplexing, as I have no idea what pulls new players to this game. Then again, I guess the lawsuits etcetera probably turn away any new blood now anyway.

especially when it doesn’t even have a [FF14 trial meme goes here]

Not only am I confused by why new players would choose it, I am incredibly perplexed by what that experience must be like. Imagining someone who had never touched a Warcraft game before first coming into modern WoW is…

certainly a thing

Don’t know anyone completely fresh myself, but have seen a couple of threads on sites in most recent times(SL) of players being new to WoW.

Most of them have complained about it being confusing and hard to follow, and the game treats you simultaneously as new, but also like you have played daily for 15 years.

Several have complained about the storylines that got straight up deleted after X patch too since it makes things even more hard to follow.

W… What?

Yes, the Alliance and Horde are stupid enough to allow the enemies “ambassadors” (read, spies) in their cities!

Let’s not forget how the Dark Irons are an allied race because they hadn’t yet officially joined the Alliance.

Only took them ten years.

Dalaran left, rejoined and left again in that same time, rofl.

My first character was a night elf, name; my first backwards. I was blown away by just being able to play a night elf. Running around and playing in Azeroth. It was magic. Fond memories of playing an orc warrior, doing the run to Razor Hill. Drums bearing out of my old CRT monitor’s speakers.

All these moments… lost in time. Like tears in the rain. :sob:

Oh man, I think my very first character was actually a Tauren Shaman, and I remember very vividly how I was in…Durotar or Barrens, doing the Shaman class quests that had you go up a mountain and it got very hazy red at the top. I essentially got lost and the top was also filled with mobs, so I got so scared of moving that I logged out and deleted the character instead.

And that’s how I started my night elf. Love these memories.

Now your memories would be about how the conclusion of the questline is actually just deleted and also retconned in a book. :sob:

I wanted a Gnome Priest, but that wasn’t a thing so I went with a Human Priest!

Before switching to Gnome Mage…

I will never forget the first time I walked into Stormwind from Northshire Abbey!

Goof ol’ times!

I thought it was already out? Or is this just the physical versions?

Yup… and now they’re backtracking out of scaredness.

Shame I won’t be getting one of the old releases, would’ve been fun to keep one for posterity!

Three new faces for male night elves.

Wonder what they’re like, I always felt like the customization was lacking, just hoping for even more customization for everyone else too!

One of my early memories was trying to take the zeppelin to Northrend but getting teleported out because at the time, I only had TBC and Vanilla, not Wrath. I kept trying for a while before eventually giving up. Shortly afterwards, I took the zeppelin to Stranglethorn and got murdered by raptors for about an hour because I didn’t know how high levelled they were compared to me.

When I first started playing wow i had pretty bad depression going on for several years, so the further the game moves from vanilla/TBC and the less there is to remind me of those times, the better for me subjectively lmao

My older brothers friends told me that you actually have to travel for days (lol) in order to get from one zone to another. I too remember getting into the zeppelin for the first time. I dont know why but traveling via ship or zeppelin in WoW was always so damn cool to me. U may ruin the game but u wont ruin my memories bobby kotick!!!
