I don’t mind a talent system as a way to build on top of what’s already there - progressing to a talent where you could get two orbs at the start of your run for example, or making maw rats drop minor powers or perhaps making enemies drop a plundered orb at a low rate on kill would be ways for me to make crazy builds even in the short weekly Torghast runs.

What I don’t like is a talent tree that gates the literal ability to complete the content at all, since after visions I’m expecting a torment that is just ‘you enter floor 12 and your skin comes off, killing you’ which is then countered by a dry talent that glues your skin on.

No, next expansion is “The Light Is Actually Really Bad”.

There’s a bingo sheet for what happens at the end of the Sylvanas encounter and one of the tiles is ‘Anduin becomes the new Arbiter’, which is scarily close to a real possibility imo. It’d mean Turalyon stays in charge, and that just sounds like a perfect opportunity for the Alliance /the Light to become ‘the baddies’ given his AotL ties.

Personally I’m all for an interstellar campaign of purification under the banner of the Emp-- the Supreme Commander of the Alliance.

Okay but I wrote one of those too.

swap out anduin for turalyon, anduin aint coming back from the shadowlands (hopefully)

he’s gonna get purified and then purify his sword and then he’ll tearfully touch sylvanas’ cheek as she dies and she’ll say “you were right”
the end

did they retcon that comic where old anduin is on the exodar ready to invade the void

You speak as if they won’t retcon anything without a second thought
tomorrow they will tell us the ashbringer was forged not by a crystal but a soul from the maw which changes its mind whenever it feels like it.

And Cairne Bloodhoof is in the Maw because he was secretly evil and working with the jailer this whole time, why else would he have pushed for the forsaken to join the horde?

no i know they will. that’s why i was asking, i wasn’t sure if they already had or not.

I just assume everything in lore is subject to change at the drop of a hat.

Not directly but they basically said it was one “possible” future

it’s always a bold and honestly stupid move to do something like that, even though it generates hype it limits your story possibilities going forward unless you are already actively working towards that outcome

that they’re hand waving it is literally no surprise

didn’t they say in legion that the exodar was basically a no flyer anymore and that’s why they had to build the vindicaar?

They said it was fixed, but they never updated it from being a smoking pile of rubble in game. Indirectly I guess it’s broken because Garrosh Rakeesh destroyed the naaru powering the vessel, but this is never stated anywhere in the game itself. Then they added that they had always been building the Vindicaar from the start as a secret project even though this is never mentioned or alluded to even in Velen’s inner monologue from the aforementioned short story where they say the Exodar is fully repaired (and draenei riot control almost begin murdering human refugees).

Guys I think the WoW writing isn’t that good.

This has been my assumption, alongside the myth they like to hold up that they plan things years in advance. Which, no they do not, very obviously so.

At best, I think they got a post-note somewhere where it says things like “Draenor, Nagas, Shadowlands” etc. Small one or two word ideas or titles for what can be an expansion down the line.

Everything else is made up on the spot more or less at the whims of the lead writers, which can also change just as suddenly if they change their mind. As much as I hate Sylvanas(Mainly because of her writing) it was very obvious that they never actually initially planned for her to be lead-villian, or at-least not this route they have gone down.

And it already feels quite heavily like they(Most likely Danuser) is now trying to back out of this new route by giving her some kind of dreaded redemption arc. Because I also assume he was very much against the route they took his waifu down the last bits of BfA.

But this issue exists with all of the writing, not just SL and Sylvanas. It’s just…very noticeable there.

Basically, the story can change on a whim at any point depending on the current mood of whoever is in charge of it at the time. They have zero respect for their own consistency or continuity.

tbf it was a pretty hard flex on Velen’s part. If my best friend turned into an evil demon lord and hunted me for 25,000+ years, I’d probably give him a cheeky “Light be with you lol” before sending him to his death.

Sylvanas/Anduin just don’t have that relation.
