So I thought that Vol’jin not getting to where he was meant to be was never explained but apparently in the Ardenweald covenant stuff it’s either stated directly or heavily implied that Azeroth (the titansoul) deliberately stopped his soul from going to Bwonsamdi which is a) a thing she can do even when she’s just a widdle baby? and b) a thing she apparently didn’t do for anyone else.

Bwonsamdi in the next quest compares it to us being the Maw Walker but I’m pretty sure that we were that because of the whole Heart of Azeroth stuff, which Vol’jin never interacted with at all because azerite wasn’t a thing when he died.

But seriously as Platinum said, this snail paced way of telling stories and constantly relying on cliffhangers teasing what could be instead of what is just creates immense frustration.
It’s also a big cope that Blizzard’s story devs apparently don’t have the time and ressources to write dialogue explaining character motivations outside of cinematics… It’s too hard to apparently write bubble text even without voice acting of the characters talking and explaining stuff.
It’s too much to even produce more than a couple of short stories for the website each expansion these days.
just host a fanfiction contest and buy the best ones or something. “oh no we don’t have time to write things!!!” that’s fine there’s literally a gajillion nerds out there happy to write stuff for a pittance+‘exposure’

Well now Vol’jin is the Loa of Kings which is sure to be important somehow if Dave Fennoy can be convinced to voice him again.
They did that once with Lor’themar’s short story and it’s still probably the best lore blurb they’ve ever published.

Such a shame the Loa of Kings is was replaced by Bwom-mon, making Vol’jin’s ascension into the new Loa of Kings mean nothing.
