I just want Silver light for my NElf Priests and Paladins(also green eyes like that Shen’dralar Warlock???)
I like it though. It’s my headcanon now for an AU wow.
Another disappointment is that I had expected Hero Talents to kinda give you a unique look to spells, so… f.e. Elune-y look for Priests as per Moridunum (which won’t happen, iirc no Hero Priest has an Elune focus?), or what is now fully revealed Keeper of the Grove to have a more plant-based feel for the Balance spec. I’ve gotten so tired of the heavier cosmic focus of that spec. Alas, you’re just using cosmic treants now.
but hey! Demon Hunters get a rare weapon that adds some leaves to their fel spells apparently!?
Its something
i don’t appreciate being called out
This, the talents are just inspiration but when their names were released there was alraedy someone here on forums going all out that San’layn are fine in cities or such nonsense becouse DK have hero spec called this way
That was kind of rooted in old beef, though. Sort of a told you so moment…

It´s finally over.
It has been over for three or four months, more accurately.
Now it’s just a case of figuring out what we can blame Danuser for and what we can blame Metzen for.
80% of BfA, all of Shadowlands and Dragonflight.
Even 10.2.5?
This being the least worst offender, probably… Boring but thats about it!
All he had to do, was not being so vocal about his stupid ideas and we may have never known how deep it went.
Metzen really is the George Lucas of Wow, he knows what it’s all about and making it resonate with you and that’s often enough to be successful but I’m not blind to how I and many others did blame the guy for the odd things and direction some narrative took that were exacerbated by Metzen’s involvement in other IPs than Wow and life issues that translated into the games (I’m not making this up btw, he once said how Thrall and Raynor were a window into his own life/relationship).
On the topic at hand, these Mountain Kings and Dark Ranger subspecs really is a poor compromise to having class/race skins with original spells for each playable race and culture on Azeroth. They picked the most popular and mainstream aspect of it and gave it to everyone over a tailored hero spec like calling an Orc Chad Warrior “Son of Grond” over mountain king. It is what it is, I expect 5-6 years down the line, much like covenant abilities for them to be reskinned at some point.
If the schedules are anything to go by, 10.2.0 and 10.2.5 was already mostly planned ahead of time, especially given how 10.2.5 wrapped up the Dragon Isles’ storylines with their epilogues ahead of 10.2.7, with 10.2.7 seemingly being all about setting up what’s to come in The War Within if the name is anything to go by.
10.2.5 is likely a mix of things that were already done or nearly-done by the time of Metzen’s takeover, with things like the Gilneas storyline being incredibly short even by racial side-story standards, like how they mention that Calia’s leading the Forsaken Army to get the Scarlet Crusade’s attention while the Alliance (including Tess, with the help of Voss) flanks them only twice in the quest text, but we never get to see her again in the story until the very end.
That’s not to say that a lot of this wasn’t enjoyable, mind you, but it does feel like 10.2.5 is a bit scrambled together while things get in order for 10.2.7 - which would make complete sense, given how the schedule for most of this stuff was posted only a month after Danuser had left, according to his LinkedIn (Nov 2023 - December 2023).
Planned perhaps, but it has been noted that a lot of 10.2.5 feels like it was hurriedly rewritten, particularly the Gilnean Reclamation. It’s hard to say how much of that was done under the watch of Metzen and how much of that was managed by Danuser.
And similarly, we don’t know how much was written ahead of time. How much of 10.2.7 and War Within is the product of Metzen’s work and how much is a part of Danuser’s legacy?
Worst case scenario, the community will end up pinning anything bad on Danuser’s lingering influence while Metzen gets a free pass and commended for everything good about War Within.
Good riddance.
I think overall whenever some important person in a company leaves, change doesn´t happen instantly because things they´ve been working on will be in varying phase of completion with not as much liberty to just be completely scrapped. Even if we look at World Soul Saga, there seems to be a huge difference between first expansion and the other two.
In War Within we come to new previously undiscovered island with new previously unknown Earthen, under which are new previously unknown humans under which are new previously unknown nerubians.
In Midnight we return to Quel´Thalas, place we have known since Warcraft RTS games.
In Last Titan we return to Northrend, place we have known since Warcraft RTS games.
Given that Metzen came back only at the start of 2023 (IMO a result of poor Dragonflight sales and feedback from fans about the story), it´s highly likely that War Within was already far enough in production to be completely reworked, meaning that expansion, while fully done under Metzen´s charge, might have some aspects of Danuserverse, however not that major. Midnight is likely going to be the first Danuser-free expansion.

See you never Mr “I think season 8 of GoT was really good”
I suspected as much.
Amirdrassil too.
The Tyrande/Malfurion/Shandris cutscene doesn’t seem to have been originally planned. Malfurion is completely silent, Shandris becomes the new leader of the kaldorei but it’s not reflected in the game world (Tyrande and Malfurion phase in at the Terrace of the Moon in Bel’ameth after that cutscene, with Tyrande having the title <Leader of the Kaldorei>), and the whole idea that Bel’ameth is basically a retreat to recuperate in rather than the new night elf capital seems to have been hastily thrown in with a “we totally haven’t forgotten about Kalimdor we swear” line added to appease the disappointed fans.
Could be, yes.
It’s possible that Metzen came in when 11.0 was already underway, so he provided story tweaks around the already existing zones and art assets and reframed the overall narrative to make it work more like a sequel to Legion.
It’s also possible that he was there from the start and pitched TWW as the sequel to Legion that he would have made. Or the Dragonflight team pitched the concept and he had no problem with approving it. Truth is, we don’t know.
