I don’t want to deroute the thread with lore musings, but in short, ren’dorei are known wielders of the Void that seem resistant to its maddening effects. Not immune, mind you, but sufficiently resilient to retain their sanity and still physically embody the Void.
So if you’re a die-hard scholar with a thirst for knowledge that will drive you mad, why not stack the deck in your favour before opening N’zoth’s autobiography? It’s not like elves have ever turned away from magic pursuits when, really, they arguably should have.
Oh there are also Void Elves serving N’zoth in the dark visions from BFA - so there’s a threshold after which even their resilience and mental training comes up short. Which is nice, I think, as full blown immunity would have been a cheap take.
Eh, they served the Alliance and not the Void, so that still falls on the side of sanity as far as I’m concerned. I never said I’d leave unattended children with them!
I mean, with the expansion after this one heavily focussing on the Elven Tribes, they do have to add some depth to Void Elf lore, aside from Alleria… So I guess this is kinda nice!
Also like the fact they are not a dying breed like the Worgen and Forsaken!
Its a option to join them, so there will always be a (handfull) few of them around, I suppose?
Though it’s one of those things that I doubt will be reflected in the roleplaying community at all, considering that most people use void elves as a placeholder for high elves.
There’s a new questline, not mentioned in the patch notes, on PTR about a new Emberthal Questline
She tries to find a visage form. We talk to various couples, as well as some other interesting people, like a Night Elf Worgen, and a Void Elf who wasn’t part of the original group.
Silvermoon Scholars are places near the inn tent now!
So, there’s some new tents, a few new atmospheric effects, a few more void portals (none of the new ones are working though), aaaaaand the High Elf Wayfarers and Silvermoon Scholars are just gone the High Elf wayfarers are gone (there are some Unknown cubes around so maybe they’re just broken), and the Silvermoon Scholars are chilling by the Inn-Tent. They used to be clustered around Locus-Walker, but right now there are only Void Elves around him, named, “Unknown.”
There is a portal with a Dalaran banner next to it, so it looks like it will go to the old Dalaran portal room that got emptied out. We know Alleria went to Dalaran so… The hall of the guardian also has all the council members there along with an encrypted model of presumably the new member. The faction guards for Dalaran have been changed out for Sunreavers and Silver Covenant members.
in the rift, also there is a (still inactive) portal to the big island that was originally inaccessible so they have some plans there. I noticed Locus-Walker has new voice lines. And they have also added a lot of neat void effects to the rift.
Using eagle eye on a hunter, it looks like they actually put another set of portals in on the far side of the easier to see but inaccessible island. So every walkable island has been portal linked together for some purpose.
I stole this from the US forums posters, so I thank them for the search for updates in the update!
I get the message, that being comfortable with who you are is okay and that you don’t have to go out of your way to try and discover who you really are or redefine yourself. It’s nothing particularly special.
It’s one of those emotional Dragonflight stories that the usual circles are going to accuse of not being a real Warcraft story.
