nor did i say there was anything wrong with it. if she doesnt beleive she needs one, go queen, own your dragon self. it just seems like a lot of build up for no punch-line.
my issue with it? is the fact it seems a tad accusatory or judgemental that other dragons and drachtyr dont accept their dragon selves by choosing a visage. its a more convienent way for dragons to deal with mortals. its less nessecary for drachtyr who are more closer to mortals and not just in size and stature.
I don’t mean to be about this one but this game has a 10000000 easier ways to gain resistance/immunity to the Void and a trump card over the Void.
This one is fair enough I suppose.
I’m not sure I would use these words, a lot of N’zoth’s followers were Void Elf models whenever the invasions spawned, and given how small their population is that’s a lot of Void Elves.
I don’t really like this point, in terms of aesthetics of the High Elf race and their personality, they rejected the Blood Elves in TBC and were absolutely abhorred by the use of dark magicks like Void and Fel, so much so they willingly took exile instead of submitting to it.
But any of these points would probably be fine. If Blizzard ever actually explained any of it or wrote any of that.
Thus the unreliable ones were culled. The massacre of Nazmir “volunteers” took care of the rest. Now we have about twelve void elves left, being hideously catty to each other about who has the gothiest outfit.
The converts are most likely to be fringe elements and not that numerous really. Considering how intolerant high and blood elves are of demons et al, i don’t really think “mum i’m going to research the void” at the breakfast bar will fly well.
Though at least they mentioned the negatives of it.
My headcanon is that there is intelligence level needed for the whispers.
Firstly because I think having all creatures infused with Void getting maddening whispers when they cannot act on that madness (a horse is never going to join the Void after falling to madness, it’s just going to go rabid, resukting in servant of Void that wanted to use that horse to have to walk) is kind of pointless.
Secondy, Void whispers being tied to attempt at corruption from Void Lords is more interesting than it being just some automatic magic effect.
Thirdly (this is the most important factor), someone being immune to whispers because they’re dumb AF is hilarious.
Also, Blizzard probably doesn’t think about the implications anyway and we’re just going to give ourselves a headache if we do.
That doesn’t really make for a good story about how the living cancer tumours might actually be the good guys though, so thus we must wheel out the cutesy void-corrupted animals who will be suffering maddening whispers daily now to show that the Void isn’t totally evil (as long as you sacrifice your brain cells to not think about the greater implications of the corruption).
Demonstration of one’s ability. Risking your own sanity and will in order to fight the Void is one thing, but it doesn’t demonstrate that you have the strength to succeed.
But take a sweet animal as a pet and develop a bond with it. Nurture it, raise it, care for it. Once attachment has been established, the pet will be corrupted with the Void and once again, it will given to you for you to care for. Demonstrate your mastery over the darkness by keeping your companion from turning into a shrieking fleshbeast. If you fail to do this, you expose your weakness and your lack of the will and discipline required to become a true void elf.
Now we just need for Blizzard to come up with lore like this, instead of it being fancrap.
