The funny thing is that mage water elementals are conjured water elementals rather than real ones, which means that the only class that was capable of summoning permanent elementals wasn’t even summoning anything, and especially not real elementals.
Give more elemental options for shamans you cowards!

I can imagine a few sweaty DKs complain if their unique head piece was easily obtainable for free.
Currently in the same tangle and the more I think about it the more I think I’ll probably never ever use it.
I mean its a store item, so getting it might be worth it

We’ve had talent pruning to ability pruning and now we’ve finally reached pet pruning.
I’m honestly trying to think of another developer whos gone on removal sprees as much as blizzard does. Where does this thinking come from that less variety and diversity within a class is good idea. Blizzard hates fun is very old saying but damn it, sometimes they seem very determined to prove it correct.
I hope they prune druids out of the game eventually

Is it even prunning? They are changing the ability itself because they are trying to make Mage less doodoo than it currently is.
Sometimes you need to experiment or take some more drastic steps. It’d be like Ret players going “Muh exorcism that was here since vanilla!!!111” when they got rid of it in the update.

I use my ele to attack people trying to poach a flag in BGs or freeze people in place if I’m CC’d. Unhand my moist ally!

Except the water elemental can be used for RP purposes, the excorcism not so much.
I mean, the obvious counterpoint is that the devs will not take RPers under consideration when they are actively trying to fix a class that is struggling.
Game balance > RP
It seems, mages will have to resort to battle pets if they want to RP their elementals. Shamans have to do it all the time, unfortunately.

I paid for them, idc they’re free now. I could miss the money back then, but I am also glad people who couldn’t or didn’t want to now also get to have them!
As for the rewards, I’ll probably freeze a mount, but I won’t buy them because I don’t like them very much, tbf 
I will, at one point, use this sentence IC… And a name for my Water Elemental(not Elenthas)
