Hate how its Alliance, or former Alliance, factions and people that need to apologise for doing nothing wrong.
Instead the long list of Thalassian slights, insults and mistakes are swept under the same rug as the Horde’s.
Unless the apology is the Kirin Tor blaming Antonidas or smth, since thats exactly how Horde apologies go too, then we’re even and the blood elves can finally heal!
I expect this in the next expansion where they can’t create or think up a new neutral zone that they wish could teleport or fly out anywhere on Azeroth.
I think the writers destroyed Dalaran precisely to take the ever-growing Team Good Guys down a peg. The Kirin Tor can remain, and can have limited presence in new zones like they did in the Azure Span in Dragonflight, but without their flying citadel that can teleport anywhere on Azeroth and houses troves of magic with very poorly defined limits.
Oculeth used chronomancy in the “recruit the mag’har” scenario to send you over to AU Draenor. Chronicles 4 even quietly excised any mention of the Bronzes from that, putting the credit entirely on the Nightborne.
I’d see it as a positive if it leads to a fracturing of the organization and proceed to de-homogenize mages as a whole. It’s a bit of pet peeve of mine that the magic focused group in every faction has now been greatly if not completely faded into obscurity because of Dalaran which was by now the international mage academy.
There’s no way in my mind that the magic or even principles of its practice should be the same for a human, goblin, tauren or nightborn but every single one of them was slapped with the Kirin Tor vile purple.
Siren Island looks like it will be a mix of Forbidden Island and Island Expedition.
Will probably get very boring doing the samey grinds every week to go down in one of the 3 caves.
I really do not like these small cramped zones that they’re selling as tightly (action) packed places. Old zones were the best because you could just wander between points of interest and get lost. This feels like you’re constantly being bombarded with ‘LOOK HERE, STUFF!’ like you’re walking down some crowded competitive market street.
For the sake of getting the Horde vs Alliance rubbish out of this thread, another containment thread has been made.
Bit puzzled about us getting a new zone for a 11.0.7 patch, if I’m honest. I’m looking forward towards a more meaty continuation of the story in 11.1 instead.
It sort-of-but-probably-not confirms my belief that the War Within story was squashed into 11.0 and really rushed through in an effort to push through all of the stuff that Danuser wrote, with 11.1 and 11.2 likely being used to set up Chris Metzen’s Worldsoul Saga and the story that will lead into Midnight.
If it helps explain it, the island/landmass has actually been in the game files since BfA - it looks like a ‘reused’/unused island expedition map that they’ve just populated with mobs/quests/etc. to do as a tide-you-over patch while they work towards 11.1.
I dunno if it’s a response to the anniversary stuff - even with the landmass premade, writing quests and putting the stuff down requires a bit of time (especially with the “epilogue” of the Kirin Tor stuff).
If it’s dropping on the PTR tomorrow, they’ve had this cooking for at least a month or two for sure.
The Fate of Kirin Tor questline name has existed in the files since Beta too, so they definitely had plans for it months before release (even if the actual questline may not have existed yet).
And yes, it feels like they squeezed the story into 11.0 to free themselves to write a different story for 11.1 and 11.2. (inhales copium)
11.0.7 content is definitely not a reaction to the reception of 11.0.5, though. It must have been in development for some time now, there’s no way Blizzard would react this quickly.
I´d look at it differently: It´s an existing customization that was created for NPCs and is now being added to PCs. I doubt any amount of work was needed for it besides flipping a switch. It´s different from creating new customizations for other races as that would require some effort.
There are a bunch of switches they could flip for other races - shared allied race-main race customisations for one. There’s also the ‘dragon eyes’ customisation options, which so far as I know still aren’t an option for anyone (inc. dracthyr) even though they’re a thing for…I wanna say a bunch of races.
But you’re not wrong - the half-elf ears are a very quick thing to just turn on.
The way that the tokens are time-gated, combined with how the weeklies can be completed within a few hours and the daily in less than one, has led to the anniversary being labelled as the most egregious case of FOMO we’ve seen in years, which is what spurred the recent change in how many tokens are given as rewards.
Plus there’s the brutosaur backlash, which didn’t help either.
Overall, some people are treating 11.0.5 as Blizzard’s biggest slip-up since the fumbling of Dragonflight’s narrative.
