These are all great and valid points, however, i want a necromancer class, so I’m ready to thanos snap the rest of them for it.
To be real for a moment, i think there is still space for necro to be a stand-alone class and not step on lock’s toes too much.
I imagine a support spec similar to augvoker, but focused more on debuffing enemies, rather than buffing allies (or do both, but buffs come at a cost ie health loss like frenzy in wc3).
A healer spec like disc, but using more dots and debuffs as opposed to absorbs and direct damage.
A dps spec similar to demo, but much more focused on creating a large army of undead and empowering them, instead of them being glorified dots with extra steps.
Problem is that necromancer got pillaged pretty hard by warlock, dk and to some degree shadow priest. Brother just wants to sit back with a cool skull on his head while bone boys do the work for him
I might be biased by my time in City of Heroes/Villains, but I wouldn’t hold either Hunter OR Warlock as they are now to be proper ‘Pet’ classes.
Having Necromancer be a full on Minion Controlling class could still work and be cool.
I just don’t see them doing it, sadly.
Both Warlocks and UH DKs cover way too many mechanics and themes that would be central to Necromancers. It makes more sense if Necro was a palette swap option for warlocks as all three specs rely on the same resource (souls) and have playstyles that you’d expect from a reanimation-, DoT- or Frost-based necromancer.
It’d actually be a better alternative to Blizzard trying to reinvent the wheel and introduce an abomination like Evoker again.

You just made an enemy for life!
For the rest, agree! Most are just speccs tbh!
I would accept that, but it’ll also forever consider Tinker a gnome, mechagnome, goblin, earthen, dwarf and Dark Iron dwarf class!
They already stole our stuff for death knights and demon hunters! Please don’t do this to us again!

I’ve long thought that the next class (or new specs) should have a physical ranged damage spec and actually another one which can also use agility daggers.
It’s weird that Hunters have 2.5 entire types of weapon that are exclusive to Hunters (since Rogues and Warriors lost the ability to use bows/guns as a stat stick) and to a much lesser extent it’s weird that agility daggers are exclusive to rogues.

I was under the impression that enh shaman could viably use daggers but apparently though they can equip them, they don’t actually work with any of their abilities for…nebulous reasons.
How very strange.
The ranged weapon thing is why I want the next DH spec to be ranged.

Have there been rumblings about how Goblins intelligence is due to Kaja’mite consumption in the Undermine patch? Is it one of those things that are just left unspoken or are they perma-buffed from being exposed this long?

A lot of these concepts are too narrow to be fully-fledged classes. I could see most of them working as hero talent trees, maybe.
Expanding the selection of hero talents to choose from seems like the best way of adding more gameplay options with every expansion, though I can’t see them adding 38 new hero talent trees with every expansion.
Maybe 13, one for each class that every spec under that class can pick.
Or maybe 19 cross-class hero talent trees, that can be picked by two different specs from two different classes.

Next class is just gonna be another hypermobile z axis abusing class.

It would be apt for Midnight, i’ve always liked the Astromancy angle that pops up now and again.

Wouldn’t mind it so much, High Astromancer Solarian and Etraeus are cool af fights, but the description is just FFXIV’s Astrologian without the added divination/cards etc, which is quite funny.

By the way, I just was thinking… But whatever happened with the Army of the Black Moon, lmao?
It just… Dissappeared from the story? Did it disolve? Did Maiev disband it?

Not Current Content lmao…

I know, but there has been no mention of them since the Darkshore Warfront, and some things did get mentioned and/or wrapped up with the Bel’ameth patch…
Except the Army of the Black Moon, apparently.(in the same way that black eyed Night Elves just don’t appear anymore, except on players)

That’s wrong. Night elf sentinels at the temple grounds in Amirdrassil have the black eyes and the silver heritage armour. I believe the Army of the Black Moon was also reformed into the Army of the New Moon.

Oh fair enough, I never noticed those! I thought they were silver or blue!
I remeber the Army of the New Moon, but I cannot seem to find anything on them, nor if they’re a reformed(or continuation) of the Army of the Black Moon! D:

I think it’s just stuff that we’re meant to infer rather than get told by Blizzard.
A new moon is a “black moon,” it’s also the end of an old lunar cycle and start of a new lunar cycle, where it stops waning and starts waxing instead. By accepting the symbolism of the new moon, they’re embracing renewal and rebirth rather than pursuing the vengeance that the Black Moon entailed.

It appears the Fate of the Kirin Tor-Questline has been delayed until January 7 2025(8 for us)!

My heart tells me that they’re delaying it so they can re-write the terrible story.
My brain tells me a different story.
