PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Drakthyr continually being that lingering taste of bile at the back of your artistic throat.

No.

While I agree that customisation would be great, this is in no way a unique problem for Pack Leader. Every hero spec has a specific fantasy tied to it and it seems that Pack Leader is trying to make its players feel like Rexxar, based off the choice of pets.

As someone who has effectively been pushed into playing an orc hunter who summons night elven sentinel owls that conjure moonbeams of Elune, I’m not going to shed tears over hunters finally getting a hero spec that caters to a non-elven power fantasy.

It flips back and forth a lot.

For example, all of BFA, all of Shadowlands and certainly Vault of the Incarnates had sets that were all strongly tied to the raid’s theme.
After that, they started to tone it down a little.
Aberrus sets mostly had a loose draconic theme, some Amirdrassil sets had a fiery theme and some Nerub-ar sets had themes vaguely connected to the War Within, from a dwarven/earthen mountain king warrior set to a ethereal-themed rogue set to a Beledar-inspired priest set.
Undermine(d) represents the first time since Legion where there are no tier sets that are inspired by the raid that we’re getting them off and Legion was rather unique for this, as Warlords of Draenor had plenty of orc-inspired sets and Mists of Pandaria plenty of Pandaria-inspired sets.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either, as Legion focused heavily on creating or recreating sets that pandered to the class fantasy first and foremost, and many of these sets are beloved to this day. Undermine(d) seems to be following the same philosophy, with mixed results.

But I wouldn’t mourn the absence of goblin-themed tier sets, as we’re likely going to get goblin-themed catch-up gear, just like the druidic catch-up gear for 10.2 and the fiery draconic catch-up gear for 10.1.

At the very bloody least, Blizzard needs to work on making the dracthyr tier set actually appear on dracthyr bodies. The fact that they don’t get to show off their iconic, class-specific armour in combat is ridiculous.

My main concern is how are those tattoos going to show up on the furry races, especially pandaren, the core monk race?

:looks at Mechagon dropping Kul Tiran human sets:

Yeah weird!

That said, I wish we got a techy look for the goblin zone, even if it means yet more goblin stuff compared to gnomes D:

Just like usual, it either won’t be visible or wouldn’t look organically. So tired of the black tape on the fur whenever there’s some gloss to have…

Just gonna… drop this here.

I actually really, really, love this set. The effects shown in the dressing room as well is really cool.

Evokers keep winning (apart from the Dracthyr forms).

The set looks great.

Let’s make the class unable to wear it.

Blizzard giveth, Blizzard taketh.

There are three constants in life - death, taxes, and Elenthas making weirdly veiled snipes at elves / fae every chance he gets. :+1:

I personally find most of the sets to look really good. I’m sure the more techy sets will be part of the world content attached to the patch, and I’ll be really surprised if that doesn’t happen. Blizzard has been on a big mog push with DF/TWW to be fair, especially sets that fit any armour types.

Etherals look cool honestly. Hopefully they will never be made a playable neutral race.

Hard to say from static images, but they look a bit too clean. Their wrappings look more like bands of overlaid armor than fraying cloth.

I would prefer not to see the TBC mummy joke race that only 5 people care about and that just doesn’t really fit the vibe of Azeroth / the Factions walking around my capital city. How do you think Ol’ Emma will respond to her housing being taken up by an incorporeal floating bandage.

Ol’ Emma has seen beyond the veil of mortal corporeal concepts so in this regard she would be fine I think (ethereals run a shop in Stormwind already tho)

I don’t know a single soul who takes the Ethereal shop IC and I hope to continue that way.

However this also just proves that Stormwind is putting priority on incorporeal floating bandages instead of people like Topper McNabb.

Looks like we’ll get another Defias rebellion in the next expansion.

It’s a tiresome strategy with them making some race playable (that actually only a very vocal minority is interested in) only for said race accounting for 0.1% of the playerbase at max level a month after its release, and then with said race being forgotten after their expansion ends.

He posted on a character that should simply be a customisation option and not its own race.

Yeah I’d prefer it that way too, but money talks.

This is just straight up not true and I won’t elaborate.

Bring on the mummies.

I just wish they did what Shog said. I have this awesome set for my Evoker(who’s totes a Bronze Dragon LARPer/Timewalker… And his Bronze’ set looks awesome on his visageform… When he’s in Dracthyr form, tho? D:<

So, he’s AD’s version of the Story forums’ Erevien?

Someone explain to me, why do people like Ethereals so much? I honestly do not get it? Same with Arrakoa?

Someone explain to me why Blizzard thought that giving the transmog-shenanigans, brought to Azeroth by the Shen’dralar, should be taken over by the Ethereals??? Was it the fact they look to Night Elven in Horde cities? Why not replace them with Blood Elves then???

Instead we got this ugly- wannabe mummy race replacing something Highborne brought to Azeroth and taking away lore from playable races???
