Because anyone who grew up with the egyptology book™ thinks mummies are cool and so is anything related to The Dark Crystal.
I will not take further questions.

I loved the mummy movies??? I have no idea what those other 2 things are you mentioned?

Edit: But also look up the ology book series. Most 90s/late 90s kids had or knew of one of them.
Sometimes I feel like I live life on a paralell universe compared to other gamers.
Never really a part of the gaming/fantasy community, because I never really was in contact with it, having missed out and still missing out on most things most gamers and fantasy-fans love, etc
I’ll be honest to say that LotR and Warcraft are the only 2 fantasy settings I have know off from my youth(Warcraft only since the release of War3/WoW).
Still catching up with all the things I missed in the 90’s and onward(playing the Witcher 1 recently, for example!)
can you imagine how bad the male blood elf jokes would get if they were also the designated fashionista guys
Are there male Blood Elves?
My brother, are you happy now? Goblin-themed weapons to your hearths desire!
Then I can only wholeheartedly recommend The Dark Crystal, movie or series, although the latter is probably more palatable from a contemporary perspective - if you can handle puppets.
I will give it a go, its been on my to-watch list for a while!
But lets not go off-topic for much longer lmao!
I think the ethereals are cool and neat.
Mmmmm. Essence of Gelfling!
They’re aliens who actually look alien. Orcs and draenei are aliens to Azeroth, sure, but if the lore was written otherwise they wouldn’t really look out of place alongside the rest of Azerothian natives.
Turning into beings of pure energy maintained only by enchanted wraps is markedly different to other playables we’ve got.
Culture wise on their own they’re not anything super fresh - they balanced the greed and cartel stuff of goblins, the magic item hoarding of BElves, and the planet exploded of the draenei - but that’s fine, as long as when you move they keep the cool after-image effect.
Happy-er
It’d be nice if English didn’t mix+match y and i for that word, it flows better out loud.
Was just thinking of this.
Will honestly kinda make it or break it for me.
That’s dumb.
I spend a lot of time choosing what pets I want and i play without lone wolf.
Make it their sprint animation and everyone’s happy.
Yeah, hunter’s never been my thing but picking which animal is following me about feels like a fairly important part of the class even if it’s the ‘don’t care about the animal’ spec. Having ‘you will have an eagle’ seems kinda crappy.
I liked having the choice and you know-- people who never wanted a pet having that choice I was also fine with.
Now i am going to be stuck with a crappy eagle on my ranged characters that I can’t change? Seriously?
I don’t like BM much either but also, I sometimes don’t want two pets either.
We don’t know what the visual elements are yet.
Maybe the hunter’s accompanied by an untargetable generic eagle at all times, maybe it only just appears for the abilities that mention it, maybe it’s just flavour text that has no visual impact.
It does seem like a weird middle ground. People liked Lone Wolf for the damage modifier and for the petless marksman fantasy, both of which are now gone. People who didn’t use Lone Wolf liked being able to choose their own pet, a feature which is now gone.
The only people who this pleases are the hardcore gamers who were annoyed by the gameplay of having to occasionally summon their pets for utility and lose the Lone Wolf damage buff.
In the end, its a crap show for me because i play this class for the pets and the BM fantasy just does not work for me
And I play marksmanship for the fantasy of not having to use pets…
Guess what shog said is true, nobody is getting what they want out of this
I just want to be able to use one-handed swords / axes on Survival Hunters.
They’ve been a fairly common request over the years and have a decent amount of fans, though.
Considering they’ve been a part of the setting since the days of the game’s first expansion that’d be a rather strange stance to take.
I’d also rather see existing races made playable over completely new ones conjured out of thin air. It’s practically inevitable that new races and classes will be added over time, so they might as well add something that has been consistently present in the background.
