It was the one item we never got, and I miss it every day!

SMF Nightborne warrior with 2 of those, please!

The little magical sword just doesn’t fill the hole it left behind :sob:

Surely this time the warcraft expansion will be… err… warcraft-y. Tenth times the charm.

Also them bringing up a joke character who has arachnophobia-but-inverse as a representation of their “new and improved storytelling” does not exactly fill me with confidence

Do you ever read these interviews and get a sinking feeling in your gut as you realise all they’re really saying is “yeah we think we made warcraft warcrafty-y, so you can get back to having a warcraft-y experience in your warcraft” instead of actually being able to competently clarify and explain why they believe The War Within’s story is worthy of being merited as a “return to form” and “playing for all the marbles” lore-and-story-wise.

“Really trying to create something in the vein of the essence of Warcraft, or the best of Warcraft, bringing that to the forefront. The ways we’re going to do that is really investing in our world and story.” sounds like a smart and easy way to answer the interview question, but it doesn’t actually tell you anything about why they believe The War Within will be an expansion with a heavy narrative focus. “We want players to be excited to go on adventures with new and returning characters” doesn’t help either, because wanting players to do that requires that you write a way for them to want to do that i.e., write an engaging story.

Ion taught them lawyerspeak.

They’ve gotten very good at speaking but saying nothing. The last time we got decent discussion from them was the old CDev watercoolers.

All that work and you barely see it. Either let them stay in that form or give the true dragon form full mog capacity.

Why would I do that to myself?

Y’see, corpospeak means you’re marketing a thing diplomatically, not giving too much nor much at all lest you be on the hook for genuine passion and promises to the consumer while also walking that tightrope of reflecting on past mistakes without acknowledging them as mistakes because that frightens the deer hearts of shareholders. Dodging issues and choosing your words is a corporate art so that you cannot be punished by either consumers nor management.

I do not like it but I do understand it. Pretty much every game related company has to sanitise their every interaction with the community that has built up around their game as there are many individuals and groups who will go out of their way to pick apart even the most basic of statements.

To their credit although I do not approve of everything that the company has been doing lately, I do think they are creating a decent backdrop for role-players to run around in and work with. The game itself remains satisfying in terms of PvP/PvE content. Not perfect by any means but tolerable and with enough rewards for me to set clear goals to pursue.

Devs, and indeed any ‘customer facing’ role, including retail and food service, needs to be empowered to just absolutely tell it how it is like the Customer is an idiot.

Because they usual are.
“Well why can’t you do this that way?!”
“Because that would take three times as long and cost four times as much. You already whine about [ X ] and [Y] as it is, and you want that to take more time out? Your buffoon. You blithering fool. You absolute imbecile. Begone from here.”

This is minor in the grand scheme of things
but
why is the Shado-Pan icon not a pandaren? Why aren’t any of the Monk hero class icons pandaren? Why is the Herald of the Sun not a tauren?

Didn’t you get the memo? Humans are the protagonists in Warcraft. :weary:

Thanks, I hate it ._.
(No, I don’t miss the potential irony of posting on my human character lol)

Immensely funny that they, in their efforts to make the icons non-specific or representative of a single race, still managed to exclude like 90% of the races in game.
Wow you’ve covered the face of this humanoid figure? Could be a tauren!

Human Potentional :tm: strikes again, all the monk icons are human…

Wow, I see no pointy ears sticking out, could be a elf!

The global homogenisation of these is so off-putting, like a great deal worse than even the Class Halls in Legion and those have high-Highs and some noteable low-Lows… You’d think they would have learned their lesson from that expansion but somehow they didn’t which is facepalming.
