Oh, yay. Someone remembered worldbuilding is a thing again!
This raises so many questions, but Iâm here for it. Anything that adds depth to the lore of the world.
Honestly, I donât see anything very special about that dialogue from a playerâs perspective.
We already have a good idea of how the Light works as a force. Yes, it is a cosmic and external sort of energy, but it empowers individuals based on their internal quality, namely their faith in themselves and the goodness of their own actions.
In this way, it seems clear to me that the Sacred Flame is just an alternative interpretation of the Light and that the Light manifests as something fiery due to their interpretation of it. We see something similar in the Herald of the Sunâs lore, as they manifest the Light as solar rays and sun-themed stuff.
Itâs neat that characters are wrestling with the nature of the Light and arenât as all-knowing as players are, but from an out-of-character perspective, itâs just another form of Light-wielding to me.
Knowing the Church that we know has a concept of heresy, itâs interesting.
Only in the context of people twisting the Churchâs teachings for evil, with Metzen referring Scarlets as the only example of what the Church considers to be heresy. Not differing beliefs or systems of faith.
On that note the Arathi also only ever call those in the Priory who use the Sacred Flame to practice necromancy as heretics.
Whelp as we assumed, the new Dracthyr classes are Dracthyr who only recently awakened! Their small introductionary quests does give us some insight in what roles their classes fulfilled within Neltharionâs Dracthtyr Weyrns!
Warlocks are Felologists,
Priests are Lightwarden,
Mages are Thaumaturgests,
Rogues are Stalkers,
Hunters are Shikari(very Centaur-y?)
And Warriors are Warriors!
I am just wondering why the Shaman class is unavailable for the Dracthyr, since one could argue their connection to the Black Dragonflight would have it make sense, same with Druids, due to their connection to the Green Dragonflight!
(I know the OOC reason is Totem-/Animal-forms)
shadowbringers players have concerns
It is entirely this.
No paladins (mounts), no druids, no shamans, all 'cos theyâd have unique models to contend with.
Just awakening? I thought Blizzardâs initial justification for only being Evoker at launch was that they would have to learn from the other races of Azeroth to be those classes?
I wonât believe any dragon would allow their soldiers to learn how to use fel of all things, especially Neltharion. This makes no sense.

ah yes, Vareeesa, theâŚfourth Windrunner sister?
falls under the same banner of draenei warlocks innit
Draenei warlocks can be petinent eredar and/or sargerei. This is ridiculous in context of the established veyrns and lore in general, especially since fel and demons were unknown to Azeroth before the War of the Ancients.
I mean, warlock is one of the base classes that every race gets, so they had to make up lore for it.
It ainât pretty, but thats just how they went about adding them.
Also draenei warlocks are clearly said to not be Penitent Eredar, they are (Lightforged) draenei warlocks.
Evokers have always been said to be the rare, elite, soldiers amongst the dracthyr, so the non-elites waking up now makes sense.
I canât recall Blizzard ever saying they needed to learn from the mortals how to be warriors, rogues, mages, or healers when they had entire weyrns dedicated to those roles
They messed up, letâs be honest. We could have the order halls (like the Black Harvest) being relevant again, we could have seen how the fel is treated in the major factions, but no. Too much effort, too much making sense. And please donât start about the Lightforged warlocks.
This is only a recent choice to be fair, itâs not like itâs been a standard since day 1. They didnât need to add them.
Iâm not saying I disagree with you, but just pointing out that Blizzard has decided that Warlock is one of the classes that are base to every playable race, so they had to think of something and they decided this was the best path!
On a side note, I also think Lightforged draenei, draenei, dracthyr and earthen warlocks (unless Penitent) are stupid, but alas here we are!
I think that any race can be a warlock, in the same way that any race can be corrupted because warlocks are evil and I wonât be taking notes on this.
I think that the point is that these dracthyr are just waking up and are already warlocks, having presumably woken from a time before fel influence was even on Azeroth is bizarre. If they had learned from us over the expansion then that would be another story.
Itâs the explanation that matters. Anyone can suddenly decide to slurp green juice, but this is another pointless lore-breaking.
Blizzard cares about Vereesa so little that they canât even spell her name right.
