I suppose there’s more Broker cartels involved than the Ethereal Consortium. At least, that’s how I’d imagine it.
Having a glance at the class and spec changes, fingers crossed the changes feel good? I always kinda get lost in the weeds of the Blocks Of Text when it comes to updates heh.
The change to Frost DK’s breath of sindragosa:-
Summary
Breath of Sindragosa has been redesigned – Call upon Sindragosa’s aid in battle, consuming 16 Runic Power to deal Frost damage every second to enemies in a cone in front of you. Deals reduced damage to secondary targets. 1.2 second empower, 2 minute cooldown, and has 3 stages.
I: Deals Frost damage instantly and lasts for up to 8 seconds. Refunds 75 seconds of its cooldown.
II: Deals Frost damage instantly and lasts for up to 15 seconds. Refunds 45 seconds of its cooldown.
III: Deals Frost damage instantly and lasts for up to 30 seconds.
Grants a charge of Empower Rune Weapon at the start and 2 Runes at the end.
Castable while moving with 30% reduced movement speed.
Developer’s notes: We’re exploring a new design space with this iteration of Breath of Sindragosa. We want this update to give you more control over how you use the ability, so you can adapt it to whatever the fight demands. We’re looking forward to hearing your feedback to iterate further or change directions.
Is this the first non-Evoker case of Empowering as a mechanic? Not against it, mind you, just interesting to see it crop up. Appropriate for a dragon breath, I suppose.
Edit for new alchemy stuff:-
Summary
New Recipe: Umbra Essentia – Slink into darkness, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Effect lasts for 20 seconds–1 minute (depending on potion quality) or ends upon moving. 5 minute combat potion cooldown.
Developer’s notes: We’re adding a new potion in Ghosts of K’aresh that replicates abilities such as the Night Elf Racial Shadowmeld to address its prevalence in high-end Mythic+ play. As a large number of top-performing groups rely on Shadowmeld for certain strategies, we’re looking to offer access to that utility without being locked to a specific race with the goal of reducing the pressure on group composition.
get nerfed nelves!!
Doesn’t the potion of concealment already do all of that, but better?
Potion of Concealment has no effect in combat, but from the Dev notes on Umbra Essentia it appears they want it to just be Shadowmeld-in-a-bottle even if the item description doesn’t quite deliver that same vibe.
I think monks have an ability called slicing wind (slicing something, at least) that propels them forward via empowering.
It already is. I mean there has been a trend, particularly in TWW, where newly release patch come with a myriad of rough bumps and badly paced content. It ends up rectified of course but only 3-4 weeks later.
Teeth are being ground for the quicker patch cadence comes with poor experience in the first weeks and when things do get fixed, the players who put up with the bad end up asking themselves why they even went through it all when they should have just waited.
This happened plenty of times in BfA and Slands, much less so in DF.
Correct, they took a rubbish power from Plunderstorm and gave it to monks to have an evoker-esque charge ability that replaces flying serpent kick at the end of the windwalker talent tree.
I guess you can’t have Netherstorm 2: Arcane Boogaloo without manaforges.
Since they seem to have a penchant for attracting void creatures I guess the crazy ethereals would build something with that exact purpose in mind. But I doubt there will be much comment around how it’s originally a blood elf design.
That’s indeed something I wondered, how is there a manaforge on K’aresh when it were the blood elves who built those things using stolen naaru technology from Tempest Keep?
Though they invent some lore for it, such as schematics provided by the ethereals to the blood elves or something, it’s the same reason why there’s eco-domes - TBC nostalgia and reminding people of Netherstorm.
I figured the blood elves built the manaforges off designs they discovered in the area, like they were clearly looting tempest keep for magical tech stuff.
The last time I played through netherstorm it was current content however.
The blood elves have had a solid knack of reverse-engineering anything they find useful from Draenei technology to titan coat-racks.
Hoping we see more of their engineering in Midnight tbh.
hoping we can reverse engineer every high elf into a corpse ![]()
Monkey paw wish much.
They’ll just get rid of terms of high, blood and void elf and make you all Thalassian elf, ruled by Queen Alleria Windrunner, King Turalyon (whos also regent of Stormwind), Prince Arator, and Ranger-General Vereesa Windrunner… oh and Umbric becomes the new Grand Magister.
Lor’themar retires to Suramar.
That’s not a Monkey Paw’s wish, that’s a spoiler dude.
No chance of that specifically happening but yes, there’s a chance of something that is similar in spirit occurring.
Whether it’s Silvermoon City and blood elf civilisation being completely destroyed and replaced with something far more neutral, or blood elves standing to the side and taking a backseat to allow Quel’thalas to become a home for all elves, it’s quite likely that blood elves will cease to exist as something distinct from other “Thalassian” elves, at least in terms of lore.
Doesn’t really work as a taunt when it’s a genuine possibility that the game is marching towards.
There’s some really good journals.

Unironically better characterisation in a throwaway journal than some of the main cast have had over years ahahaha.
Ethereals build eco domes wherever they set up a big operation though, that has been established since TBC.
Wait, what the hecks happening to Shadowmeld?
Is this YET another instance of “PVPers/Raiders/Mythic+ers are why we Can’t Have Nice Things?”
If so, gonna be Salty As Hell…
