PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 4)

imagine having a character that’s an old person at an age younger than some wow toons

Time to be a pedant.

Titanforged Keeper, from the very beginning.

Even Chronicles disputes this and suggests that the Emerald Dream might have always been there, that Freya simply tapped into a slumbering “Dreaming World” that she could mould into her ideal vision of Azeroth. 10.2 lore practically confirms this.

But yes, as someone who usually defends Blizzard’s “Titans weren’t nice” stuff, the demonisation of Freya, the only Titanic Keeper associated with the only “actually nice Titan,” comes across as a little bit farcical.

It really does just remind me of Joe Rogan-esque brainrot “i’m just asking questions” but applied to a basic fantasy tropes.

What’s next, mortals are evil because they invented farming?

Everything is evil. Except the evil things. They are good now. Despite doing evil.

Time for a Disney villain redemption plot.

No sooner did I post the Unholy considerations, they seem to have changed Putrefy.

Decay theCommand your oldest Lesser Ghoul under your command over 2 sec to have them explodeto strike the enemy for (232% of Attack Power) Shadow damage [split between][to] nearby enemies.
Lesser Ghouls do not expire while decaying.
and have them explode for (120% of Attack Power) Shadow damage to nearby enemies.

So no longer extends their duration, but now makes them slap the enemy and then immediately explode against other enemies.

Which is…different, maybe better, but it still leaves the issue of not knowing how old the oldest is. I suppose if you’re summoning a gazillion ghouls how long’s left on the oldest will be a minor consideration, but it still tickles my brain in a bad way to ‘waste’ ghoul duration.

Also,

New flying carpet mounts and also rhinos.

King Terenas Menethil was actually a huge proponent of hostile gentrification and abusive zoning laws in Capital City, look it up.

Wanting to optimise imps but also being lazy is the biggest reason i’ve never clicked with demo warlock so it’s good to know now unholy dk will have that problem now!

I think that’s taking it a little too far. The Void is still all-consuming evil and corruption looking to annihilate the world that everyone is uniting to fight against. I think anyone expecting redemption out of Xal’atath at this point might be barking up the wrong tree.

But Blizzard is definitely going for that “cosmic forces don’t mesh well with mortal morality” approach to the World Soul Saga.

They are not, though? Haranir are an elder race, seeing the Trolls as mere children.

Also Mt. Hyjal was the home of the Dark Trolls, on the ancient Troll Kingdoms map, they are shown as living on Mt. Hyjal and other smaller area’s, iirc?

I have feelings about this loading screen:

On one hand, it’s beautiful and impressive in terms of attention to detail and how seamless it all looks.

On the other, the entire of Warcraft 2, and half of 3, happened in this one shot. The world feels small.

I will always infinitely prefer “Titans were well meaning but ultimately Alien Immortals who couldn’t quite comprehend sentient mortal life, and Azeroth was where things lined up Just So to surprise them” to “Actually Titans Bad” or… whatever attempt at ‘big brain’ writing seems to be the new thing…

  • We return to Eversong Woods during the end of the Harandar storyline as Halduron reports the Lightbloom is going even crazier.
  • Orweyna says that while the roots of all trees point toward Aln’hara (Azeroth), only the World Trees’ cradle her.
  • At one point, Halduron resorts to a controlled burn of the Lightbloom Lash’ra of Eversong (much akin to how the Scorched Grove from TBC came to be). “We have rebuilt from ashes before” he says. Rommath is prepared to help him. But the Haranir emerge from Harandar - led by the former Rootwarden of Teldrassil - just in time to help drive the Lightbloom back, so there is no need for burning the Suncrown Tree. This is the moment where all Haranir - despite their ancient laws - return to the surface.
  • The Rootwarden of Nordrassil (Hyjal) becomes infected with the Lightbloom (reportedly willingly?) and tries to turn the Lightbloom back on its “creators” in Eversong - blaming the Sin’dorei for its existence (it is stated many times that it came from the Sunwell). He is a boss in the Blinding Vale dungeon. He is also described as the Lightbloom’s “mastermind” - perhaps meaning its sentience?
  • Orweyna talks about Shaladrassil (Val’sharah) as if the entire tree has been consumed by the Lightbloom, though we really don’t get to see it apart from its roots in Harandar.
  • The Lightbloom is also described as being “infectious zeal” - and infectious in a literal sense.
  • After this point, Orweyna says the Sin’dorei have reclaimed control of their forests. Halduron invites the Hara’ti to Silvermoon as thanks for saving their home. Lor’themar says that the Haranir will always have a place in Silvermoon.
This is when one unlocks Haranir as an Allied Race.

Turning over a stone you thought looked nice and accidentally disrupting the pillbugs underneath vs using a flamethrower on the pillbugs because they were on “your” rock.

Speaking of what was this idiot doing when his tree got infected with the Nightmare from the Rift of Aln?

Ties in a bit to Arator’s comments about the Light giving him an overwhelming amount of WRATH sometimes. Take your Light supplements in moderation everyone.

It sounds like something you’d normally let a weakaura track for you, but with the addon changes, will that too no longer be possible?

It wouldn’t be possible with the upcoming changes, but I’ve never used weakauras anyway.

I only use StrongAuras. :muscle:

Do they explain at any point why all the roots of the world trees coincidentally grew thousands and thousands of miles of roots to converge in a single location where the Haranir happen to have their primary city?

Fandral Staghelm was really cooking with how fast Teldrassil got down there, holy.
