The Forsaken heritage quest cleared up that arrows in a quiver quote later so it’s all good.
How did it do that?
Sylvanas was/is a case study in absolute OOC/dev writing character assassination, and anyone claiming otherwise needs to pass around the Weapons Grade Copium tbqh.
She wasn’t a perfect character before BFA by any stretch of the imagination, but she also wasn’t terrible.
BFA/SL were absolutely shocking writing. End of.
Spits tea excuse? Gigs trolls? The zandalari couldn’t survive 30 minutes outside a gold pyramid.
Let’s see them put up a tarp in a dense jungle. In the rain. Whilst it’s snowing. Rocks.
Honestly pre Cata, even into Cata, she was a grounded and solid character. Beginning of legion even - as much as I hated voljin being offed, the ‘help me avenge him’ line had me excited as a horde main.
Then the rest of the xpac happened, then bfa etc and here we are
But. Zuldazar is a dense jungle and the Zandalari living outside the city do this.
Lies and propaganda
The biggest change to Sylvanas was from Tides of War book where she was adamantly against the attack on Theramore due to large risk of the entire Alliance besieging Lordaeron and wiping out the Forsaken. At the end of Legion she no longer cares about this as the writers changed the Cataclysm narrative and replaced it with the BFA / Shadowlands direction instead.
None of those sets say scarlet crusade to me.
They say tacky, skipped leg day and wearing a stained glass window. It looks more arathi to me and even then it’s still gaudy as hell.
I feel like none of the four colour sets (of which the last two are the closest) actually properly match scarlet gear. I dunno if it’s the tones or the specific weight of colours but they just feel a bit…off.
But the pure purple makes for a decent Void cultist setup, while the purple and green works nicely for Forsaken.
I personally think Wowhead’s in the wrong for labelling this as Scarlet Crusade gear, it’s just jumping to make connections based off of “Regalia of the Crusader.”
The two-handed mace is pretty great, while the swords are neat. Just a case of getting over the glowing.
I’m not seeing Scarlet iconography on it either, unless I’m being blind?
Nah, you aren’t blind. I suppose its just ‘scarlet’ because ‘Evil Light user set’
i really regret tying this character so closely to the rift of aln
sorry elune i have a new goddess now !!!
The worst Nu-Blizz retcon have done to the crusade is make white the primary colour instead of red (specifically scarlet red) and bronze / gold. Back in SoD the Scarlet themed armour’s looked like McDonalds promotional gear.
This will funnily enough be the fourth Trading Post item with a Scarlet Theme so I’m surprised we’re getting this much attention.
Specifically one of the armour sets has this description:
“Reserved for the most illustrious of the devout, these raiments exemplify the callous conviction of the Scarlet Crusade.”
So it’s some priestly set of fancy clothing the higher-up’s use.
Okay I came here to write something smart but then I clicked the link and saw a mushroom staff.
Can we talk about how adorable that mushroom staff is?
I mean. It is a Mushroom staff!
Wowhead writer sees gear named “of the Crusader” and concludes this can only mean the Scarlet Crusade.
The icon codes (which all appear to be new and exclusive to these sets) specifically reference Scarlets.
Like the shoulders https://www.wowhead.com/beta/item=258309/pious-mantle-of-the-crusader have the icon code inv_armor_scarlet_c_01_shoulder
Can’t really blame Wowhead for this one.
I stand corrected.
Seems fel magic is somewhere between mostly and entirely outlawed in Quel’Thalas by now.

There’s a certain irony in the investigators being Illidari.
