Pretty sure Pandora isn’t part of the Warcraft universe! :smirk:

I mean, we know some demons didn’t start out as demons and it was speculated that the Sayaad were one of those races.

That said, the speculation also said that the Sayaad were evil even before bieng turned into demons, so who knows!

Eitherway, I love the lore and the Sayaad bieng evil even before the Legion might just aswell be Legion propaganda or what Azerothians just assumed to be the truth!

The Haranir disagree.

That was a terrible lore addition that led to terrible RP.

I think eredar are genuinely on such a huge scale of villainy and wickedness that some people’s brains have trouble processing it so they default to “oh that’s cool I guess” on them being redeemed in any fashion in the same way my uncle’s eyes glaze over when I try to describe 3D animation.

That depends on the RPer in question, though, and has nothing to do with the Penitent nor the Eredar skin option.

People RPing there Penitent as just Draenei, but red, are dumb, yes. But so are Night Elven Demon Hunter/Death Knight/Darkfallen RPers who RP having nice picnics and relaxing nights in the Inns.

In general, the story behind the Penitent can be interesting, imho, and bad RPers abusing the skin option for it does not mean it was a bad addition overal

The story behind the penitent could have been cool in TBC or even in Legion. If they had actually defected from the Legion at the height of its power, then you can make a case for them. The penitent we got only became such after the Legion hierarchy had been completely obliterated.

All I’m saying is that Velen was far too lenient.

tbh the really egregious ones aren’t even RPing them as Draenei, they’re RPing them as “sexy cool ladies”

a cool fel skin is cool though

idk, the penitent just remind me of that Marvel one-off they did in the wake of 9/11 where they show Dr Doom crying because he was so taken aback by the horror of it all.

Dr Doom, I’m pretty sure, have canonically killed millions of people.

If you talk to the Matron Mother in the DH order hall she explains why they joined Illidan. If they followed through on Sargeras’s universal xenocide plan, then they’d have no mortal toys to play with. It wasn’t a magic addiction thing, that was just black harvest warlocks speculating, it was a I want to torment mortals and if you kill them all I’ll have no one to whip.

It IS cool but doesn’t exactly open up for a storm of options.
Cool you are a penitent demon, seeking redemption, good start
there are only a few, handpicked for the trip to Azeroth, okay good so we aren’t a big group.
Your actions reflect directly upon the rest of your kin, Big pressure to be a good boi, understood.
You need to be watched at all times, alright so I need a partner to play with.
Only the Draenei have reluctently allowed you back to the planet, no one else is going to give you leeway, alright so no cities, settlements, most social events, holidays, memorials, meet ups and campaigns are no go… :dracthyr_cry_animated:

Arguably only the night elf Darkfallen have more restricted premise, only because we don’t actually know if they were allowed back into the alliance, we only know they left Brill to rejoin them.
making it even less clear where or even if they are allowed anywhere.

The impression I’m getting so far…

In terms of philosophical differences -

Is The Light is something like Confucianism. The Void is more like Daoism.

I could be wrong, though.

That video skit of Goku trying to H*tlr scale Vegeta comes to mind for some reason

Do you mean the Dark Rangers? There are some at Amirdrassil.

Oh right yeah, I forgot about those.

Don’t they hang out with the Death Knights and Demon Hunters?
I still wish we got some info on how their return went down.

They do, yes. I think the implication is that they are not thought of fondly, but as long as they use their state to protect the World Tree and the kaldorei, they will not be killed or chased away.

And the Shen’dralar (Warlocks) and other Darkfallen! (One of the Warlocks is a Darkfallen)

Its kinda up in the air what their status with the rest of the Alliance is, in regards to Darkfallen en Dark Rangers, in the same vein as the Man’ari Eredar. Might be they’re still not welcome in the rest of the Alliance there lands, and nothing suggests otherwise either..
