I will NOT part with a SINGLE slice!

Not. One. Piece of it!

The kind of greed they talk about in the Bible

Do you want me to answer that…?

Dunno man, with hindsight that bieng the reason for their exile and not joining the Horde kinda stinks because it was such a non-issue in the end and it has cost LTT and the elves decades of internal conflict.

They could’ve easily allowed it for the elderly, young, and sick while the adults dealed with it on their own (a compromise, which LTT and the high elves were unwilling too it seems? But somehow compromising principles so secret Fel use is alright? Or allowing the weakest of society to just straight of DIE).

Especially since it took only like 5 years or so to fix the entire issue around the Sunwell anyway

EDIT: On a side note I do love how the reasons for disliking/not rejoining Quel’thalas are pretty diverse!

Not to rain on anyone’s parade because I do think paladins for all would be great (and we’ve been waiting a long time, lol), but I would like to point out that while these spells certainly seem written similarly to a player viewpoint, an actual divine steed spell for a playable race would be called Divine Steed like every other paladin’s is called regardless of the model their race has. It’s also using the icon of the Voidwing Dragonhawk, which, as of currently, is only a Midnight Epic Edition mount, which we’re not likely(?) to see be reused for a paladin asset on account of it needing to retain some measure of uniqueness to incentivize that purchase tier. It’s worth noting as well that the WoWhead database has many sections for spells, including ‘player’ spells, and this one falls, for the time being, into the ‘other’ category alongside spells like boss mechanics, cinematic triggers, etc.

All this to say I am pro-hopium, but I think rushing to say it ‘might as well be confirmed’ might lead to some disappointment :(. I’ve already seen it gaining weird traction on Twitter as ‘absolutely positively coming’, despite all these inconsistencies/things that don’t really add up. That being said, they faked us out hard with the new DH spec, so it could very well be happening! And at worst, they’re at the very least showing some starting thought into what these races’ chargers might actually look like. But here’s to hoping– Merondill would probably keel over and explode if he got to be a paladin, and I would like to see that happen.

(That being said, they could not even give demon hunters a new voidy eye colour for devourer when the new meta model for the spec has a new eye colour, lol, so if velfs do get paladin… I’m afraid you all might get holy light and told to like it)

Then you are flawed. You are wrong.

Burn the heretic!

The green and red sets don’t say void to me. They say green and… venthyr.

I’ve one friend who has been waiting for night elf paladins for the past 18 years, hope they’ll get their wish one day…

Imo it’d be perfectly aligned with how the sisterhood of Elune were portrayed in the War of the Ancient novels. Would be a cool way to let people play battle priestesses! :crossed_swords:

Slapping here some quotes in case anyone got curious how the books described them :backhand_index_pointing_down:

Instead of robes, they wore gleaming, silver breast plates and kilts, the former marked by a crescent moon design at the center. Like all of Elune’s initiates, they were females and well versed in the arts of defense and battle. Tyrande herself was a better archer than either Malfurion or Illidan. The peaceful teachings of the Mother Moon did not preclude her most loyal children learning to protect themselves. (Chapter 9)

In contrast to the previous times that they had met, the novice priestess of Elune—the Mother Moon—wore an outfit more befitting the way of war than the peace of the temple. Gone was her flowing, white robe. In its place was a form-fitting suit of armor with layered plates that allowed much mobility. The armor covered Tyrande from neck to foot, and over it, almost as an inconsistency, was a shimmering, gossamer cloak the color of moonlight. In the crook of her arm, the young priestess held a winged helmet that would protect the upper portion of her face as well.

To Malfurion, she looked more like the priestess of a war god and evidently Tyrande could read such in his expression. (The Demon Soul, Chapter 2)

“We are not going to ride with the host simply to offer our healing powers. The high priestess has had a vision in which the sisterhood must actively fight alongside the soldiers and the Moon Guard. She says that all must be willing to take upon themselves new roles if we’re to keep the demons from victory. (Demon Soul, Chapter 2)

Many carried long, curved swords, while others wielded short lances with points on both ends. A few even had bows no longer than their forearms, from which they swiftly shot dart after dart. (Chapter 10, The Demon Soul)

Had these at hand because I still should post all my collected nelf tidbits from the WotA somewhere, sometime…

Nelf paladin with a mix of gear including the silver version of the warden stuff is the dream for me.

It’s still a better situation than the blood elf gear colour palettes.

The void elf gear comes with six options: void elf, void elf, void elf, void elf, venthyr and… green dragon? The green and bronze look matches the Green Dragonflight better than anything else I can think of.
The blood elf gear comes with five options: blood elf, high elf, void elf, venthyr and green dragon.

Do the void elves really need four different flavours of blurple?

The more purple they get the bigger are the chances at Forsaken being able to bottom feed from that.

I have been wanting for NElf Paladins since forever! The Priestessess of the Moon are basicly the paladins of the NElves, anyways!

Plus it just fits!

Today I learned that black/red/gold is Venthyr. Don’t tell the Blood Knights.

Also, Farstrider NPCs us the green one AFAIK (and it was about time they got some of their own stuff).

And I’m sure all the blood elf NPCs who wear blue and gold (or starting belf mage characters) will find the notion that they’re high elves quite interesting.

tbh the only colour that’s a bit naff of these and the belf ones is the weird teal brown one. the rest are all pretty neat.

my committing to a joke aside I do agree, actually seeing them ingame after weve had enough npcs teasing their existance would be great. I really dig those ideas there too.

The spell itself however is named “Starcursed Voidstrider” - which is incidentally the name of the Void Elven racial mount and has been available to everybody who finished the racial unlock quest. I do not believe I follow on any of this, since there’s no exclusivity tied to it.

The “Divine Steed” spell is unique to the races and isn’t the same spell all across the board. Sure, it’s called “Divine Steed” and has the same tooltip, but beneath it, it’s different. The Voidstrider and the Kul Tiran gryphon function the same way, having the same description, just with a different tooltip and name, which I assume is either meant to be temporary or a glyph. I’d blame it moreso on alpha than anything else - and indeed teasing in one shape or another.

Beyond that, the two datamined spells are tagged and tied to the playable Paladin class, which generally doesn’t happen for NPCs to my knowledge.

It would not be the only time they commited to something like this in recent memory either. Augmentation Evokers were also denied existing until roughly the last moment. Same with Warlocks racial restrictions being dropped at the middle of a patch in 10.1.5 out of nowhere. I doubt it will come out on launch patch without any announcement, though. And moreso reserved for a .5 or .7 patch to follow.

That is certainly what the vibe is, though. So I assume people will love it. And while silver star-coded light would be neat (and benefit potential Night Elf, VElf and Kul Tiran Paladins), I don’t think we’re likely to get if Ion’s latest interview is anything to go off of.

I’d say the difference between these is telling:

The extremely muted gold just doesn’t strike me as a very traditional sin’dorei look either. I’m sorry, but ‘blood knight’ wasn’t what I thought of when I first saw that selection of colours.

Alright, that’s reasonable.

I never said that all blood elves must wear a strict uniform of red and gold at all times. There’s room for diversity in what individual characters wear and what individual characters look like.

However, we should acknowledge the traditional colours associated with each race. Blue and silver and blue and gold are traditionally associated with high elves and the Alliance, rather than the blood elves. This doesn’t mean that a blood elf isn’t allowed to wear blue but when it comes to visual clarity, spotting a blue-eyed blood elf civilian wearing blue and gold in Silvermoon City might cause some players to go “oh look, a high elf! New canon, there are high elf civilians in Silvermoon!”

And here’s the most important part:
If void elves get four different variations of gear designed for their race that fit their traditional colour palette perfectly, I think it would have been nice if the blood elves got more variations of gear designed for their race that fit their traditional colour palette perfectly, instead of just the one.
Maybe even a variation with green gemstones, even though I accept that blood elves were never into fel stuff and it was all a part of the deception of Kael’thas and the edgy blood elves of the Burning Crusade that people reminisce about never actually existed.

Someone should tell the silver covenant that since they can still “smell the fel” on blood elves smh.

Sort of reminds me about the dracthyr and evokers and how non of the gear introduced to them fits with their pre-existing clothes.

They are just being bigots like usual.
however I will note i hope those silver covenant aren’t located in Silvermoon.
Imagine if they are just antagonizing randoms on the street while an active collaporative effort is being made to fight together.
Its perfectly in character for them of course but still.
