I hope they don’t.
We’ll get a zone filled with world quests, picking up deer crap and killing squirrels.
For once, I’m happy they don’t touch anything related to the ‘old lore’ seeing they just like to walk all over it.

Absolutely love the personality and fire they are giving to Lor’themar in this. And I love how they have their entirely own view of the Sunwell. It is giving so much debt to the Sin’dorei that we have been missing!
Found this blog post, an interesting opinion on the modern story:
https://butwhytho.net/2025/10/world-of-warcraft-mental-health/
That. Hyjal is already a Cata era tainted disaster of a zone, they’d make it worse somehow. Moonglade, whilst dated true, is also still amazing. I’d hate to see the modern wow team do anything with it.
They wouldn’t just update its graphics they’d decide ogres or some random race had invaded and were now summoning void in the lake with no way to phase it back.
Crud. I knew I owed a blood elf money.
Either the dragon soul or one mini empire of mysteriously advanced ogres.
I still don’t fully grasp how smart ogres made it to Azeroth, and managed to build a fortress in their own pre orcish horde style.
Personally I rather give humans a 3rd arm.
The amount of times where a 3rd arm would have been nice is staggering.
A post made by the big glove industry…
No third leg? Shame.
I sure hope some devs read this, someday.
You mean a 4th one? ![]()
Or a dreadlord. They got Kalec too.
Outside of updating the buildings and similar to newer assets, I can only agree with this.
Also, aren’t these exile’s reach characters introduced in a broader context as your fellow adventurers and pop up in the game world and follower dungeons as part of your character’s journey? Now they lose their context?
they’re the follower dungeon NPCs
Thus this revamp becomes a great mistake. This first adventure for a fresh character doesn’t need the higher stakes and presence of characters we know to trivialize the threat.
Look, Blizzard writers know how to do one style of (Main Quest) writing, and we will clearly damn well like it, or else! ![]()
In a funny way these characters also actually accompany you to the early sections of dragon flight which his experience is meant to lead into.
They’re the light be with you orcs and loktar ogar humans.
Whereas do Jaina and Thrall even show up in DF?
Thrall’s in the Orc heritage quest. Both Thrall+Jaina also show up in the Avengers Assemble cutscene during the amirdrassil/emerald dream questing experience and are at the party after.
New players will not see the former unless they are playing an orc. New players will also not see the latter because they will hit 70 before doing any Amirdrassil/ED content and immediately leave to go to Khaz Algar instead.
Jaina and Thrall do both show up in the TWW intro quests, albeit briefly, and then they both show up later for Jaina+Dalaran and Thrall+stormrook quests.
But for DF, for new players…no, they’re essentially entirely absent.
Beautiful.
I love it.
Actually, Zaralek Cavern and the Emerald Dream are going to become leveling zones. The intent is that leveling players will do 10.0 content, then 10.1, then 10.2, with story mode for each raid.
It absolutely feels like “We have heard your (entirely valid and real) complaints and have also realised that actually Fixing The Problem would take a lot of effort, concious thought and some careful planning, as well as introspection about our failings as writers and world builders… so here, have some hastily deployed band-aids that arguably make things worse, please go back to focussing on the New Shiny coming, pretty pretty please?”
“Kayt, you can’t just be mean to the devs like this, they-”
I can and I will, they should stop being bad at core world building in a freaking MMO, if they stop then I’ll stop, it’s that simple!
If it works out, then that’s good.
They’re still very much absent even with that though (assuming it works out).
