PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 4)

There are already night elf glaives available from the heritage questline, but more’s better.

Ngl, I do like racial-exlusivity, and I don’t like the Warden Armor or Nightborne weaponry and shoulders from remix being for all races for example. I am, however, glad we are finally getting the swords and glaives that actually fit with the Heritage sets!

So yes #Hype

Literally nothing ever will beat the WoTLK log in screen! Sindragose flying in screeching will forever be the most awesome thing I saw while logging in!

So now that I’m on the beta, it appears that 2 out of the 3 missing sets (bringing us to total of 5 out of 6) of the Blood elf civilian cosmetic outfits have been added to the sets collection.

They have no appearance currently tied to them, being very much a WIP, but they are coded in the sets list. Now we’re only missing one more set!

The Void Elf DH quest is available on beta. It’s uhhhh short.

Turn up, kill some mobs, kill a unique named mob, Allari the Souleater says “yeah I’ll train void elves to be demon hunters,” quest over, unlock acquired. Indepth on lore this is not.

Worrying trend in the entire Midnight questing experience tbqfh. Genuinely concerning that if you remove ‘move to x area’ or ‘talk to y’ quests Eversong + Ghostlands is like. . .25~ Quests and Arator’s entire quest campaign is 16. Nuts.

We recover all of the Tempest Keep weapons that Kael’thas summoned during his boss fights to fight back against the Void invasion of the Sunwell, and each has a plaque giving detailed lore on that weapon. They’re all legendary weapons from Quel’Thalas’s history, some of them going back to the founding of Quel’Thalas, some during Troll Wars, and some as recent as the Scourge invasion.

The daggers in particular finally shed some lore on Blood elf rogues (besides Murder Row). There once was an order of prestigious assassins who served the Sun-Kings of Silvermoon called the Phoenix Blades. They would methodically assassinate the key enemy leaders before battle to leave them in disarray, but at some undetermined point in time the Phoenix Blade betrayed the King (unclear as to which one in the Sunstrider dynasty, but likely Anasterian) and attempted to assassinate him (though the plan was foiled) and the order was disbanded.

Their name is now derided as betrayers and assassins, but once upon a time their name commanded prestige as the King’s personal blades. Kael’thas recovered the Infinity Blades, daggers wielded by the Phoenix Blade commanders in past as mark of their station, and took the last of them to Outland with him. The Infinity Blades shredded magical defenses and protected the bearer from mystic attacks.

5 gold says they meet a similar fate as the Legion Legendary weapons, probably get tossed into the sunwell at some point.

[looks at the giant sword meaningfully]

This is cool since it’s basically a free guild concept served up on a platter.

Two of them, actually. One villainous and the other redemptive.

They were assassins

I have been cursed with extremely mentally damaging information I never wanted so naturally the rest of you are going to bear this abhorrent burden with me.

TL;DR someone did some digging into where Haranir come from and it turns out that they were directly ripped from Steven Danuser’s previous lore job at kingdom of Amilur with uhm. . .zero changes.

For those who don’t wish to look up the lore on these things.

The Hironar are an ancient race of wild, militant wood elves, who have existed since the time of King Ysa. They, along with the Fae, serve as protectors to the mortal, sentient tree Attiru, a tree apart of the Ring of Keozai (The Ring of Keozai is an ancient, fabled entity that spans the entirety of the world of Amalur. Comprising of 12 “branches” known as world trees, it has existed since the dawn of time,), and the one that keeps many forgotten, mortal secrets.

Your move optimists.

…now I know why they kept sounding so familiar since I first learned of them and learning he worked on that games lore soured my opinion on a game i otherwise really enjoyed once

Now we know why they’re forced into the lore with a link to the World-tree’s when it makes absolutely zero freaking sense. Its literally a self-import of a race from outside of Warcraft, onto warcraft with as minimal changes as possible without it even fitting.

This is literally headcanon-tier writing. It be like me claiming to be an Orc from BG3 in WoW, lmao.

I already hated the Harrannir, but everything “new” I learn about them makes me hate them more. Also wouldn’t this make Blizzard liable for copyright lawsuits from the creators of that other game?

Ok, yeah, I Hate that actually… what the hell lol.

The Erathi were an immortal, mysterious [race] of powerful magical beings dedicated to the god [Mitharu, Lord of Order], who ruled the ancient [Empire of Erathell]. The Erathi arrived in [Amalur] during [The Deep Gloam] period, sparking the events that began [the Emergence] era.

Feeling like Guilliman awaking to the horrors of 40K right now I can’t lie. Who the hell let this happen.

A time period where darkness swept over Amalur. No real history survived this era only legends and tales. Some Amalurians believe that this Deep Gloam will sweep over us again, while others just say that to their children for obedience. But, we do know that only a few mortals survived by hiding from the surface as dark forces went across the surface. Religious Zealots think that this happened while the gods were creating Amalur since there were no civilizations at the time or before The Deep Gloam.

You have to be kidding me. What dystopian hell have I awoken in.

Did they call it Arathi Empire for Hallowfall without realising that Arathi Highlands and Empire of Arathor used to exist

CHARITABLY [I say, my teeth ground into fine, Calcium powder] one could argue that since they were sent out during the Golden Age of the Arathi Empire they just adopted the namesake in the new lands they found as a provincial addition to the pre-existing Empire.

If you want to be charitable to Steven Danuser.

Why am I being cursed with all of this before lunch?

What did I do to deserve this instead of undead paladins and playable Ethereals?
