Have to agree, i really like that they changed the PvP ranking system but the honor from AB & WSG needs to be buffed to make them worth doing.
At present, I am running AV over and over exactly how you describe. Sometimes I try to defend, but if it’s just you, you don’t stand much of a chance against a zerg.
Currently, I feel like I’m farming PvP pieces with the sole intention of using them in the open world, rather than in BGs
A few weeks ago somebody mentioned once people got R14 gear, we would see more and more WSG/ABs pop up since they would then feel confident about those BGs and join.
As it has been said … is people, not Blizzard’s fault.
Blizzards improvements around PvP scoring system are really intended to make it easier for both sides (company and users) to fetch the PvP scene without headaches … or loosing all your IRL stuff.
If you think getting up to R14 is a madness, think of all developers fixing all the DB in server-side each Wednesday because the scripts did bad calculations …
But this not only happens with PvP, PvE scenario is … shameless.
You must have all World Buffs, all BiS, enchants, professions, etc. You can’t play the class and spec you love, but what’s mandatory. And if you don’t parse enough, you’re fired.
Back 2004-2008 we didn’t play the game this way.
Raids/Guilds do not require you to be the best player ever, just to be on time, pay attention to RL’s commands and try to perform as max as possible. Also, PvP was what should be. Alterac Valley took hours to finish, WG and AB were real battles, and every weekend there was a group raiding into other’s faction main city or two or more big raids fighting each other in open world.
But all of that is pure nostalgia … all of it is lost forever.
Now we have to deal with GDKPs, bots, AV-farming … because what’s matter is to have the best gallery-characters, not to enjoy the game.
R 14 gear makes no difference, they would get 2-3 shot in green quest gear and 2-3 shoot in rank 14 gear.
There is an ocean between r14 and bis. And a larger difference still between no consume vs active consume use.
Not that it matters in the slightest, most of these I assume are just farming to collect.
With the next big thing, I suspect we will lose them. So just give it time.
Alternatively one could try something active. Form discord groups. Then block particular av instances, mass queue for AV #XYZ. Then start cavefarming. And simply dont stop.
Then leave enough so the open spots cant end the bg and grow it from there. So if horde/ally block 2 different bg instances we begin working to block 2 more and 2 more and so on. But yea need alot of numbers for that.
Not that one needs to block every single one, just a couple will create outrage and ruin the effectiveness of av spamming for them.
But yea at that point one might as well coordinate all of us to queue wsg or ab instead. Unless ofc our aim is purely to ruin their thing.
Wiping 6 hours in MC was the thing that make it special.
Making it all through they way along with +39 peps, knowing that each of them would rather prefer doing sth else than wiping, was the commitment that nowdays is lost with all the parses, speedruns, GDKPs and curve things.
This is an mmo-RPG game.
Not an end-game-MMO game, as retail is.
So, yes. We’re not 20s kids, and we do have IRL business to take care about. But that’s not an excuse.
I still try to play and enjoy the game as 20 years ago.
When I go into MC, BWL, Ony, AQ or Naxx with my guildies we don’t force 1-rank guild behaviors, protocols or mechanism. We do not expect people to be 101% prepared (gear, strategies, etc.) and we try to schedule raids so most of guildies are able to attend. Sometimes, some weeks, is impossible to meet all the +40 people we need, and you know what: we do not raid. Nothing happens. Next week will try. The game is there. Not moving into void.
So my suggestion to all people out there who don’t want to be forced to play the game in a mode they don’t like … find another place. Is quite hard.
Iterating from one server to other, always meeting new people. Leaving IRL friends through the way, making new ones.
I know, I’ve done it several times until I found the spot I was looking for.
This isnt vanilla we’re not 12 years old anymore… back then we didn’t have much information on the game with our knowledge we have today we minimax and have sims.
The question is what happens if everyone has gear. Are people playing or will the next toon be equipped?
R14 grind is useless to me
I did the equipment grind in raids, so that I could have fun in PvP afterwards
I hope that the majority only have End Gear as a goal so that they can then really get into PvP
That was and is my intention
the new meta is this bro people still playing this game, dont have time for it thats why people do GDKP, speed runs, for you pvp is like just have 0 progress, i respect that but for of majority of people want a progress every week, on 7 day timegating, every week, pvp never will be the same of his was cause its a old game and people have a lot of things to do, better to stay playing 50 hours+ world of warcraft, if you dont accept that or adapt of new meta game, i recommend you to play hardcore is the most new thing on classic now, or wait for fresh best regards
Be the change you want to see, teach the new players how to play AV.
Frankly this isn’t remotely my experience this week, people are pvping in one pile for 20 minutes ignoring objectives and giving up as they have no idea what to do and why they are stuck.
Listen, let era be era and don’t let blizzard change anything. They WILL cluck it up. The population on era servers will die down again in a few months when people have gotten their vanilla fix out of the system. Just let era be so we always have a place to return.
The very first comment too. I was expecting to at least get down to the third. Well done sir. You show them young kids how it should be done and how you did it back in the good ol’ days!
