PvP is dead and gone - Changes needed badly!

Hello folks,

I’ve been debating wether to make this post or not, here we go. In all honesty and fairness I truely believe PvP is completely dead in this game. I’m an old Vanilla player and came back recently to give classic a go, and boy was I in for a surprise.

First of all, if any true Vanialla players are out there, I am sure we’d be able to agree on the fact, that this was NOT how pvp was back in the day. So they’ve changed how to rank, fair enough, but on top of that they completely RUINED PvP. All I’ve been doing is grind AV like everyone else. It’s called a PvP Battleground, yet there is zero to none PvP, it’s just one big PvE zerg map. Who can kill LT’s fastest and then end boss, done, rinse, repeat. It is so friggin sad to see that this is what blizzard calls “pvp”.

Besides that, we have WSG and AB, 2 amazing BG’s back in the day. They no longer exist! So Blizzard decide to revamp the rank system, and don’t give a damn about ruining the other BG’s. Heck I’ve had people scream and yell at me in raid chat and PM for ACTUALLY doing PvP in middle in AV. I’m like, it’s pvp, why am I in the wrong now?

People only care about running from a to b, then start over. It is REALLY f’ing sad. I have SO many memories from true vanilla, no memories are made today except we will be able to look back at the 2000 AV runs we did the exact same way over and over. Heck by now I think I’d be able to close my eyes and go from start spawn to drek with my eyeys closed.

All the people just rushing for R14 is not pvp’ers. If they were, they would want the system to change. I wan’t AB and WSG back, and I don’t care if they have to nerf AV so hard that AB and WSG gives more combined honor. The way it is right now, even if its a WSG weekend or AB, a basic AV run STILL yields more honor combined.

That’s it folks, see ya all at R14 where we’ll be able to run EVEN more AV’s.

It’s an old format and not Blizzard’s fault. It’s modern META gamers (particularly Gen Z) chasing dopamine pixels. Of course they don’t want to fight, they want the pixels.

Player created problem. You remember a time when this game was played for fun, it’s not like that any more, far too many people have an extremely unhealthy love/hate obsession with this game, they are too weak willed to walk away and make positive changes so instead they look for ways to ruin everyone’s fun.

wait a couple of weeks. I have a little less than 13 levels left when I get to the required level for an alterac.

I will force horde players to play defensively. The Alliance will no longer be able to receive honor points for the battle in Alterac Valley.

It isn’t blizzards fault, it is community.

It’s not in a great place, probably not the best time for it being AV weekend. Though I agree with those above this is a community issue rather than Blizzards .

That said lets be the change you want to see, feel free to go head hunting in the field of strife dont feel pressured to rush, theres been some great games this weekend amongst the 8 min base rushes, even then theres usually some groups looking to engage each other or defend.

What do u expect people to do. If the fastest way to gain rank is AV, people gonna do AV + another thing is pvp in classic, is so gear dependent that why would anyone, join with bad gear WSG/AB?

Like if u want people to do more WSG/AB give it more honor like a lot more.

I agree ,but partially . Ofc its players choice ,but mate… we are humans and as such its in our dna to always do things in the most efficient way. If there are ranks to climb and gain in pvp humans will always want to do it in the most efficient way that is since we exist for whatever u can imagine. Now … when they changed the system , players are trying to reach cap in the fastest manner they can do. It is blizzard’s fault that they cant see or predict this so they somehow made ALL BG’s to reward the same honor per hour and ppl play whatever they truly like. I mean nobody in his right mind will do 500k or 2 mil or whatever number in a way that takes 5 times ur IRL time if u can do it 5 times faster. Its sad that we kinda dont have choice , we all have irl obligations and life … noon e in his right mind will choose to fight for honor 7 days if he can do it for 3 and have his life. That is the reason they changed the system in a first place , to be more " healthy" and less no life , but they also should change the rewards calculation so the other 2 battlegrounds stay competitive. U get far 2 much for killing npc’s in AV , at this point they really need to buff the rest bg’s hard.

Well with the new system now atleast, u have a way of getting rank 14, without going full no life but like again. It’s kinda simple increase honor on WSG/AB and more people will go it but, i also feel like consumables does not belong in pvp like noggenfogger with speed etc.

just pvp in mid and don’t give a damn about what people say. that’s what i did in my last 2 weeks of ranking

Same here, much fun. Oh, i’m also one shotting lowbies and fighting other 60s in alterac mountains between ques. I don’t know how it was 15 years ago and don’t really care, but man pvp is deffo not dead.

The reality is that most people grinding the honor system right now don’t actually enjoy or care about PvP at all. They are doing it for the gear. These players wouldn’t even be grinding honor if the original version of the honor system was still in place (minus SoM change, minus patch 1.14.4 change). Titles mean nothing anymore and personally i wish i now had the option to turn them off.

Im going to wait to see what they announce at blizzcon but if they dont announce anything regarding botting, gold buying, mindless bg grinding for gear etc then i guess I’ll go play something else.

This is not a new thing. Back in original TBC people would do RUSH AV´s as well. Even premade grouping was a thing. Even if they were not a premade group, they raid leader would just post the strategy, which was as simple as it was effective, in ./BG and then you had a AV that lasts for only a few minutes.

Agree completelly.

new system allowed for even more of the rushing/gear-obsessed/grinding mentality to thrive.

It’s a player created issue, sure, but hear me out, if the game rules suck there will be those that abuse it, if abusers get an edge, it forces others to do the same or they won’t be able to compete. It’s the same thing with GDKPs. Don’t do them and starve for gold when buying raid consumables for your regular raids.

Rules must be applied or we all devolve to the common denominator.

hmm…I still Que all maps, happens on bonus wich one
I don’t need PvP gear, the only thing I’m rly behind is the Mount and if I get it tmorrow I still Que up
R14 for no reason !

classic pvp is tic-tac-toe with zero depth and outplay potential
ofc it is about the goal not the journey, players don’t enjoy the gameplay, any co-op game will be superior

Just remove rank requirements for PvP items and no one will go into AV. Huge waste of time for 6 pieces of gear yet people forced into grind honour each week.

Even not decaying means grinding 250k - 300k of honor each week and we all know it is brain dead grinding.
