Can anyone tell me (or give some link) how number of players participating in pvp affects brackets and also how many players on server are needed to unlock r14? Also how many is needed to 2nd r14 and so on.

Think it’s about 330 players that you need for bracket 14 slot to become available.
Br14 is given to top 0.3%, so naturally you need 100 / 0.3 = pool size minimum.
In reverse - if you had 100 players in the pool, the highest rating person will be the top 1%. If you have 200 players in the pool, the #1 player will be the top 0.5%. This isn’t enough to reach the 0.3% requirement of bracket 14.
every 334 characters 1 more bracket 14 spot opens
every 125 one bracket 13 spot opens
every 50 characters one bracket 12 spot opens
lower brackets are pretty much irrelevant now
So is it even possible to get R14 on a realm that doesn’t have 334 players at least?
Wondering what will happen in a few months down the line when there are less people on these realms doing PVP.
Blizzard should have gone with a different PVP option, or at least have changed the way it works so you don’t have people inflating the pool size, changed it so it was in line with how much population is on a realm, that would have been the logical thing to do.

No. It is not possible.
On my realm we have about 100 characters in the PVP pool each week and as far as I’m aware, no one has got higher than R12 for two months.
Usually if there is interest then someone on the realm will become Bracket leader to set caps but also make sure that pool boosting is being done. So even if your realm doesn’t have 334 players it doesn’t matter because 1 player alone can create enough level 1 alt’s to feed them 15 HK’s before deleting them - they will still be added to the pool. Obviously it’s better if more people help out and normally all rankers going for R14 help to boost the pool to create more spots in each bracket. On top of this you can create Alliance’s with other servers rankers and pool boost each other they just need to make 10 characters on your realm and log them in each week which takes about 5 minutes and you do the same for them. If you can get say get 4 different realms to help out and have 10 peoples each from each realm doing this then that’s an easy boost of 400 to the pool and if more get involved then you get even more.
But this all depends on if you have one guy dedicated enough on the server to set this up and then after he hit’s 14 you need someone else to take over which as time goes on will be harder and harder.
Long story short, the ranking system in Classic is very very bad.
And that lead to all kind of un honorable ways to get honor and eventually rank.
From bracket manipulation to premade farming all the way to creating 1mil alts to increase the pool size.
