Going for a heavy demonology-build can give you an edge, allowing quick demon summons based on what you’re looking to fight.
Succubus’ seduce is one hell of a CC and allows you to set up a shadowbolt or soul fire. Apply CoS or CoE before the cast for extra damage, and you can cast shadowburn at the same time that your bolt hits for extra numbers. A demo/destro warlock can pretty much delete a warrior/rogue with that combo, especially with ToEP. The succ’s also invisible, so if a rogue opens on you just pop seduce while you’re stunned.
Against other casters you’re best off with a felhunter out. Having 5set T1 gives it additional spell resistance too (along with the base resistance it already has) so it becomes this unstoppable annoyance that can pushback on your opponent’s casts (couple that with a barov peasent caller to lock down another caster)… The felhunter can also consume magic effects on your opponent, or yourself (in a helpful manner, like breaking polymorph) and silence/interrupt. A felhunter also provides a bit of extra stealth detection that can knock a rogue out of stealth before an opener (if you’re lucky).
Against a warrior you can either go the succ route for seduce/damage combos or sac a voidwalker for a hefty shield. Without rage the warrior’s pretty useless… If you have Fel Domination that’s 2X shields.
Also remember Death Coil’s basically your “oh sh*t” button and is classified as a horror effect rather than a fear, giving you a decent heal as well as making your opponent flee for just enough time to set up a fear
I’m in no way decent at PvP, but warlocks do have loads of tools to control a fight - just stay away from using the imp, it’s too squishy. For the extra edge in PvP you’ll also want engineering (I don’t have it, too busy farming herbs!) for things like reflect trinkets, goblin rocket helm, mind control helm, grenades etc.
What people haven’t mentioned here is that Locks are VERY gear dependant you’ll need a certain amount of health before you’ll be able to shine in PvP because a freshly dinged 60 is going to get absolutely destroyed by a Rogue or Warrior.
I’d recommend going demology if your gear isn’t great it will help mitigate the damage, once you get better gear you might want to try Destruction and go for insane burst damage with Immolate+Conflag and weaving in searing pain and if your raiding then I’d suggest going SM/ruin if you don’t fancy paying respec costs everytime you want to PvP.
Watch some lock pvp videos on YouTube they will help you pick up some tips. I find Most PvPers go engineering so you’ll want that but also against your absolute nemesis which is a melee class with the shadow reflect trinket you’ll want to stock up on limited invunrability potions for when they pop their trinkets otherwise you’ll end up having to wait 5 seconds to even do anything to them while it’s up.
Make sure you always have healthstone up and run with voidwalker. Warriors are free kill. I shlt you not, i 1v1 generals and warlords since 55. A solo warlord 1v1 kill is worth 450~ honor btw on lvl55 or 56. Its hilarious. Get closer to 60 and you get less “resist”.
All warriors do the same thing. They go balance stance, but charge is 30 yard or so, so you dot (they in combat) and they do 1 thing only. Every fcking time lol. They switch berserker stance and charge you with that berserker charge move they got. This is where you sac void before they hit you, they hit shield so no rage. You deathcoil them and draintank after basically.
You could be the worst warlock and best warrior in the world, do this and you win.
Nah lol, a warrior has to do nothing but keep mounted until melee range and start from there, using the zerker charge after the DC, thats when warlocks die. No warrior ever does this tho.
1 tip: spam drain life lol. Don’t let it finish the cast, just spam it. It`s like fakecasting for the foolproof, works half the time.
