First, as usual, Hordies are jumping to conclusion. Just because there’s faction-restricted sections at launch doesn’t mean they’ll remain so forever. Midnight is about the reunification of the elven tribes, after all, and Renown is a perfect system to unlock other parts of Silvermoon.
Why do I get the feeling that Horde players once again made up headcanon (“you will only have 1% of the city available”) and will return to the usual QQing when reality hits?
Secondly, Blizzard can make any new race they want whenever they want. It is not Blizzard that bends to expansion themes, it is the opposite.
If Blizzard feels like playable High Elves will prop up sales for a new expansion, they’ll find a way to include High Elves in a post-Midnight story.
For instance, after the Worldsoul Saga, there could be a “Southern Eastern Kingdoms” revamp expansion with Stormwind as the player hub and High Elves a playable race, since there’s a significant High Elf minority in Stormwind.
Like pulling up an alliance city/ village in horde territory?
Would probably not be more then one of those parlors they use as quest hubs.
And that would be underwhelming af.
And then the next non horde territory is plague lands.
Chapel of light is historically neutral.
The next thing would be stratholm.
And as awesom a revamped cleansed stratholm would be that would probably eat just as many resources as silbermoon did and I don’t know if that had those to spare.
Plus it’s still a good way even when flying and let’s not forget that there would also be a discussion if it’s even the alliance right to take over strat.
Sure it was a human town but it was a lorderon town not stormwind and lorderon still belongs to the citizens of lorderon.
They just look a bit rotti know
Alright it’s been quite the hiatus from these threads but I’ve returned!
So we all know about the haranir being the new allied race whether one likes them or not it is to be, we need to look to the future!
It’s time to carry on pushing for High Elves remember from blizzcon Chris Metzen himself said
“You will not only help reunify the scattered elven tribes of Azeroth, but you will make your stand with the forces of the light and banish the shadow forever.”
It yet remains to see how this will play out, we see void elves but mostly nightborne at the start of the gameplay reveal cinematic and the text of marching on quel’danas raid? does this quote still remain true? we have yet to see when the alpha/beta goes live with datamining, we will then learn what presence the high elves and their leader Vereesa have in the story of patch 12.0 and in terms of " reunify the scattered elven tribes of Azeroth". whether it just meant/teased unlocking haranir or a few npc’s scattered in the raid/questing areas.
Don’t give up We recently saw Amani are getting updated models with female orc skeletons and male troll skeletons which look very playable imo (whether they do or not is to be seen) could be in a 0.5,0.7 or even 12.1 patch to conclude from 12.0 or a sub patch story, this would mean they’d need an alliance race to counter balance them (this is pure cope so don’t read into it).
All I will say is Blizzard we still desire and have a strong love and passion for High Elves, it would be amazing for them to come a reality in the expansion that makes the most sense, especially after the whole philosophy change after shadowlands into dragonflight and war within. anyway stay civil people, we all love and enjoy this world!
Well, I must say - I wasn’t expecting Quel’Thalas to look so Blood Elven…I thought they might have a Nightborne Arcane Spire or something…but nope - Eversong Forest looks extremely Blood Elven as does Silvermoon and indeed, as does 2 showcased dungeons being Murder Row and Magisters Terrace.
I do think an element of the pre-Third War High Elf stuff is going to be based at Windrunner Spire and Village though.
Yeah…I don’t think so buddy. Blizzard devs forgotten or atleast denying in their head, that High elves still exist in the Alliance. Just watching the games con Midnight dev panel saying all High elves are Blood elves. I quess they only play the Horde side and Horde bias.
They going full with the Void elves, Void which is the very thing the Alliance stood against, Against the forces of darkness…but they don’t care. Listen to the community…ha…funny Blizzard. Very funny. Only one side they listen too. The Alliance become a joke and the Horde is the RED Alliance. Being Light worshippers for…1000s years and is now Void zealots.
Silvermoon which is the Alliance High elves anceint home aswell but being treated as outcasts. I don’t think they even get a place in Silvermoon either but somehow the Void elves get to go there. Hell they couldn’t to have Windrunner spire either and the surrounding areas. Or getting Crystalsong forest to be their new home but I don’t think that will happend either. Given suggestions for 20 years and they say they “listen”…ha…what BS.
And Alliance High elves that been fighting for the Alliance FOREVER.
Don’t get to officially join the Alliance but Dark Iron dwarves “can” even if High elves been fighting for the Alliance way, way longer. Fighting sides by side with humans, dwarves. Shared Blood and sweat in battle. And if it is the army of Light that “saved” the Blood elves which everyone know is Turalyon is leader of ( Which is aka the Alliance) and this is the thanks for saving their b… to be “tolerated” in Silvermoon in a small space of Silvermoon. Should have left them to the Void.
If its was like Dalaran but heh…not even that.
You are forgetting it was a “LIE”, there is no reunification of the elven tribes. Was all made up for Hype. I mean…what is the point anymore.
They should just rename the Alliance to “THE LEGION” and the Horde for “THE RED ALLIANCE”.
All Alliance go “FOR THE LEGION” and Horde go “FOR THE RED ALLIANCE”.
So the “reunification of the Elven tribes” with which they sold the expansion was a lie. Making the majority of Silvermoon an actual shared hub was the obvious way to move towards that, but no, obviously it was a lie.
I would like to talk with the genius who thought restricting an entire faction into a small section of the Expansion hub for more than a year was a good idea. How can you even come with such bs after Gilneas and Bel’Ameth being open to everybody? Unbelievable…
And still zero mention of Night Elves and Nightborne in relation to the others. Reunification, sure.
It’s absolutely infuriating. Do whatever at this point, but at least be consistent…
Well Nightborne can be seen standing alongside some Void Elves. Their role is pretty much confirmed since Lor’themar and Thalyssra are married and it was Lady Liadrin who sought to bring them into the Horde. I’d say that the Nightborne are possibly going to have more involvement with an Azshara-based story though, which could happen in Midnight.
Night Elves - they’re role in this is really hard to say. They don’t really have anything that connects them to Quel’Thalas…anything that would make them go. Hell, Forsaken have more reason to go to Quel’Thalas than Night Elves do.
EDIT:
The one thing they could have done was help with healing the Dead Scar with Druidism and natural magic, but…no need, apparently.
So you think that Metzen, literally the Creative Director of WoW, lied to the entire Blizzcon audience when he said “Midnight would be about the reunification of the elven tribes?”
Talk about conspiracy theories.
In the end, I will be correct. The story is about the reunification of the elves, all the Hordies who think the Alliance will be segregated forever are setting themselves up for disappointment, and the inevitable crash-out will be glorious.
Yes…I do…now. I have given up, Blizzard does nothing but lie to hype up so player keep playing so they keep getting money. Just as they have been doing for years. They have been given hints for years. Like in Mist of pandaria that Varian wrynn been speaking to Lor’themar for the Sin’dorai to return to the Alliance. But nothing happend, just BS. Like carrot on stick they done for 20 years. As Blizzard don’t care, not for Alliance players anyway. Only for Horde players. Im just tired and exhausted of Blizzards BS.
Alliance don’t stand for the Light anymore, they stand for the “VOID”. All for the darker forces. They might aswell join Xal’atath…Who cares anymore.
Ok. So Dead Scar has completely healed and disappeared. Ghostlands and Eversong got merged into one zone. The general shape of Quel’thalas is the same. Just a little bit bigger.
Also it might be bit of nitpicking but during the Developer Panel, Lead Game Designer Maria Hamilton said that Scourge did terrible numbers on High Elves… in GHOSTLANDS.
This may suggest that population of the northern part of Quel’thalas fared better. Exploring Azeroth: Eastern Kingdoms flat out states that Court of the Sun remained basically untouched by the Undead during Third War.
Also the Sanctuary Area of Silvermoon is set aside from the rest of metropolis. Meaning it is noticeably separated. And if Alliance tries to tresspass further into the city they are killed on sight.
That may have been misinterpreted/over-hyped at the time. First, just cut the Night Elves and Nightborne out of your thinking on that. They were clearly not really intended to be a part of this and people may have adopted too broad a conception to this idea of ‘elven unification’. This is clearly focused on the thalassians.
Secondly, what I have noticed with Midnight is a VERY heavy reliance on Light and Void iconography. The Void/Light armor sets, Void/Light mounts, Void/Light pets, Void/Light furniture. Even the lorewalking chapter we have hinted coming is about the Void Elves and the Blood Elves, I don’t believe it covers the High Elves.
My conclusion? This is about the Blood Elves for the most part, and the Void Elves to a lesser degree, serving as the Elven links to the Light and the Void respectively. The ‘unification’ is not going to be that in the truest sense of the word, but more a coming together of both sides to fight the extremes. The scraps of plot we have received so far seem to suggest the something happens that is going to set us against the zealots of the light as much as Xal’atath (I would wager the final boss of the expansion will be light themed, as I believe Xal’atath is increasingly likely to be the final boss of the whole saga).
As for Silvermoon, they have made the correct decision given they wished to use the city as a joint hub. Perhaps it would have been better to provide Alliance players with a dedicated hub all of their own, but they didn’t. Bel’Ameth and Gilneas are also not equivalent to Silvermoon. Lorewise, probably, but in terms of game mechanics Silvermoon is a full blown Horde capital, an equivalent to Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluff. Bel’Ameth and Gilneas are not in the same league. Respecting the Horde nature of Silvermoon by limiting Alliance access to the core part of the city (i.e. with the services required for the players to do what needs to be done) is the best approach.
What I find interesting with the whole light and void theme is that blizzard multiple now hinted that this isn’t going to be a typical the good light and the evil void thing.
They said extremists on both sides are bad and can lead to trouble.
And they specifically talked about the void elves and the army of light in relation to that statement.
And that is interesting cause that are both alliance factions that also are lead by the couple alleria and tyralion
Well that actually eases my mind about the conflict, was kind of anyway waiting that story gets more complex. The whole idea of extremists in each side being the problem is better than black and white light is always good and void always evil
