Quel’dorei High Elves as an Alliance allied race - 2024 (Part 1)

Yeah. If you played a human from Elwynn forest. The deadmines as I said was taken over by the Defias which was Stromwind’s biggest Iron mine. The two mines in Duskwood was taken over by Worgen and Ogres. The mines in Elvwynn forest was taken over by… what are they call…“You take no candle”…Kobolds. They had a small team collecting woods east of Elwynn forest. The Mine in redridge mountain was taken over by Gnolls. It was the HQ for Gnolls in that area and eastern side was filled with Blackrock orcs from the Burning steppes. In lake shire there was a line of people asking the mayor “Why, why isn’t’ Stormwind helping us??” So Stormwind could not “even” help their own people at the time. It was the same in Westfall and Duskwood people was wonmdering “Why is Stormwind helping us??”.

But as time as past, now with Turalyon as the leader. The Alliance is flourishing now with resources as they taken back the mines. And he is retaking and rebuilding old human kingdoms. So if the Blood elves had waited they would have gotten the resources they needed to rebuild their kingdom. As the Blood elves sure didn’t get the resources they needed from the Horde when first gathering went to building Garrosh’s underground fortress and the second gathering went to rebuild Orgrimmar.

The IF dwarves had their own problems aswell with the Dark Iron dwarves and had also lost many mines too and constantly attacked by Ice trolls, troggs etc. Then the Gnomes came, asking for help after losing their home.

Well true but Garithos was the only “Living” Commander with rank after the Scourge attack in the North.

that will be interesting. I’m not even counterarguing here, it’ll be interesting to see how much silvermoon has changed over the years.

Honestly, I’m starting to soften on the customisations. If High Elf options were an unloackable questline like the Man’ari or Night Warrior options, and Void Elf can play paladins, you’ll probably no longer see posts from me on high elves on this forum anymore

Or you come in the blood elves ranks

I refer to a point previously made.

Exactimundo! I just can’t play Horde, and I don’t like the aesthetic. I would enjoy the first 20 levels in a lush forest and an intricately made capital, but I’d spend the remaining 40-50 levels in spiked hovels. I’m not saying it’s worse than the alliance, it’s just not for me.

But I will consider levelling a hordie to max level (something I have never done) when we get high elves. Either as an AR or have full customisations and more races for void elves.

They already gave you high elf like customisations, which means the real complaint here is that you are unable to point at something to say that you are undeniably a High Elf as you conceive them. After all there are now a very few Void Elf NPCs out in the world who use those tones (meaning that they are within the Void Elf spectrum, though I like to think that these are Void Elves starting their transformations). Two of those NPCs are actually Blood Elves who were not present at the original disaster, proving Void Elves can turn other Elves into Void Elves (and thus ensuring more pressure on the already vanishingly low Alliance High Elf population).

The Man’ari approach won’t work with this because it is arguable that the Draenei who use Man’ari customisations are repentant, and thus able to use Draenei racials such as the Gift of the Naaru. And their repentance means they are effectively leaving the main Eredar and becoming Exiled Ones, or Draenei.

By contrast the Void Elves are still still Void mutants who bleed purple, speak with a reverb and who proc a void form every thirty seconds. In other words, what the Void Elves have to approximate a High Elf is the best that can be done with Void Elves, you simply cannot square the circle within the Void Elf race to get the game and other players to acknoweldge you as a High Elf.

You are aware he was born, raised and lived his entire life in Lordaeron, right?
He hated the elves because their “token” force failed to keep the horde from breaking off and ransack his home, killing his parents and burning down his hometown.

The Man never even saw the shadow of Stormwind in his entire life.

It is not just one humans fault, but in the case of Garithos it wasn’t just because he mistreated some elves, he was mistreating their current acting king and ordered the execution of a nations leader, Garithos went beyond his station and almost killed the last member of the high elven royal bloodline, wars have been started for less.
Other incidents prior to joining the horde include: alliance spies and night elven sabotage, as you come to learn playing through the eversong and ghostland questlines
(arguably its not explained well that the events of eversong and ghostlands are before they joined the horde, but that is my opinion)

In anycase the alliance for all intent and purposes tried to execute their ruler and sendt spies and a small invasion force to occupy their land.

As far as I know, Void Elves are primarily former Blood Elves, so if there’s any increase in Void Elf population, it’s essentially Blood Elves. Any increase in void elf population, lorewise, is probably from the Blood Elves. There are High Elf Wayfarers but as far as I know, they’ve been removed.

By contrast the Void Elves are still still Void mutants who bleed purple, speak with a reverb and who proc a void form every thirty seconds.

okay, thank you for reaffirming why I want a High Elf AR, because you’ve just elucidated while Void Elves can pretend to be High Elves but aren’t High Elves.

With the customisations I think is a good compromise but can do with more work. There could be class skins or racial tags where the void elves could be altered to radiate holy energy, not turn purple, and bleed red

It is not just one humans fault, but in the case of Garithos it wasn’t just because he mistreated some elves, he was mistreating their current acting king and ordered the execution of a nations leader, Garithos went beyond his station and almost killed the last member of the high elven royal bloodline, wars have been started for less.

Yeah, but Garrosh explicitly ordered the blood elves to steal the divine bell, knowing they would take the fall. He also had the same attitude towards the Blood Elves that Garithos did, believing in Orc supremacy.

Besides, the Scourge succeeded in ending Anasterian’s life, corrupting the sunwell, and ending the life of one of Quel’thalas’ most decorated ranger generals.

I know that you will counterargue that “those undead are different from the undead that we ally with, because the latter hate the former too!”

Well, okay, just as how you can’t lump all undead together, I don’t think it’s fair to lump all of mankind together based on the actions of one person

Of course it is mostly Blood Elves who are the major component of the Void Elf population because Blood Elves form the vast majority of the thalassian elf population, those High Elf Wayfarers were present in the not so recent past who were also eager to learn the Void and who have doubtless become Void Elves.

And I have no qualms about reminding you why Void Elves aren’t High Elves, because they’re not. They are changed. Even the normal skin tones in use by Void Elf NPCs mean those Void Elves who are roleplaying High Elves using them aren’t doing anything special. In fact, it would be more feasible to treat such a player as suffering a void induced delusion that they aren’t corrupted by the void than agree they are an uncorrupted High Elf.

Your proposed compromise is not a compromise, it’s giving you everything you want whilst hollowing out the Void Elf fantasy even more. Void Elf Paladins may come in future, I think personally such a thing is a contradiction in terms but there is a Void Elf Paladin NPC, but that will be a VOID ELF Paladin and not a pretend High Elf one.

Mind you Garrosh came later, some 6 years into the alliance with the horde and did not single out the elves, he was against everyone.
which made it easy for the elves to find common ground with their allies, they were also in a better position than keal’thas was at the time.
Also this was in the wake of the alliance failing to get them back because jaina or more factly the silver covenant had just performed a purge in dalaran over the bell. which was a bad day for all parties.

That same Decorated ranger general reached out to them and helped them deal with the biggest traitor the high elves have ever known, wheres the alliance was activly getting in their way of that.

You are correct ofc.

Except I don’t think the alliance ever apologized, they disowed the actions of Garithos but thats it.
There was no force of alliance in Eversong or Ghostlands to aid them and the closets human friends they might have had were the argent dawn, which is a netural faction with both horde and alliance members.

We can argue about it all day long and agree or disagree about what happend, but that is the lore blizzard wrote.

They even planned having Garithos in the Warcraft movie “in Stormwind” to give Garithos an origin, you can see him in the first trailer but later on they choose the actor to play random soldier instead. In the trailer he says “They’re beasts, they should all be destroyed” showing his superiority but that scene never made it to the movie and the actor played a different character instead.

Apologize? What for? They had nothing to do with Garithos actions. Stormwind did not give Garithos leadership of the remnants of Lordaeron either. The remnants choosed that themshelves as Garithos was the only one that still had rank to retake Tirisfal glades and Lordaeron. As far as Stormwind knew is that the entire Northern EK had fallen and was overrunned by the Undead. And also they could not help Lordaeron or Silvermoon either if they had know as I said Stormwind was still recovering and their economy was non existence. Its why trough out Stormwind kingdom everyone was asking why Stormwind was not helping them with soldiers or supplies. Because Stormwind had nothing, they were still recovering from the second war, barly had soldiers to protect Stormwind. Even in wow vanilla Stormwind Kingdom was recovering.

You know the move is a seperate canon from the games, and in the games his origin is already established
he was the only son of a baron and lived in the town of blackwood you can visit that place actually, although in game its just one burned down house, very disappointing.
But he grew up in what is now the easten plaguelands that is his canon origin.

Ok, I want high elves in one form or another. You apparently don’t want them at all. I don’t know what to say.

Your proposed compromise is not a compromise, it’s giving you everything you want whilst hollowing out the Void Elf fantasy even more.

  1. Void Elves would actually benefit from High Elves since a lot of alliance players playing void elves are trying to imitate a high elf but can’t. Also, void elves have their own identity and with a high elf race, they would be able to develop on their own and be there own race and culture.

  2. As far as I know, Blood Elves have their own customisation options, including darkfallen options. It would be cool if they got San’layn options too if they haven’t already. If/when high elves happen, I don’t want want any of these on the alliance as it wouldn’t make sense. Not to mention, there are a myriad of High Elf-exclusive options that could happen like blue tattoos. In other words, we’re not trying to take your precious blood elves away

I ‘don’t want them’ because they are already available, in the same way I see no pressing need to add Humans or Tauren to the game either.

The damage to Void Elves has already been done if you were interested in using them as a void based character. Those customisations cannot just be removed. Besides, with Void Elf NPCs now using these customisations (albeit extremely rarely), it is now clear that Void Elves with those tones are just Void Elves. And any who insist they are a High Elf is clearly suffering from a void induced delusion, maybe due to the trauma of their transformation.

As for the tattoos, those are based on portraits from Warcraft 2 using Elf units. Why wouldn’t Blood Elves use those tattoos? After all, we have established that the entire aesthetic and culture you are seeking is basically what the Blood Elves have and those tattoos were used by Farstriders. The Farstriders are one of the three pillars of Blood Elven society alongside the Magisters and the Blood Knights.

At this point in time the greatest difference aesthetically we can establish is that High Elves may have a mild preference for the colour blue. Hardly enough to base a race on.

They already develop on their own and are a separate race and culture. What exactly would they gain by adding alliance affiliated High Elves to the game?

We have Kul Tirans and Highmountain Tauren. And there’s a campaign (which has my support) to add more Amani trolls when we have Darkspear and Zandalari.

Ok let me get this straight. So, we pro high elves are laying claim to an aesthetic that has never been used by any blood elf since they came into existence in Frozen Throne, but, for some reason, we’re the ones who want everything from the Blood Elves? If the tattoos on the farstriders were co-opted by the blood elves, you’d think Halduron Brightwing would be covered in them right now.

I ‘don’t want them’ because they are already available

Also, with this logic, we shouldn’t be asking for player housing because WoD introduced Garrisons. Yet here we are

Kul Tirans are a different model representing a different build of Human but on the Alliance, and thus doesn’t cross the faction line your request does. As for the Amani, I don’t think they are needed, and it seems Darkspear Trolls are getting some Amani customisations once we complete the storylines.

None of the Elves use the tattoos right now with the exception of Alleria. You are extrapolating it as a potential type of differentiation based on Warcraft 2 when they were used by the Elven units in that game. But, once again, Blood Elves ARE High Elves. The race in Warcraft 2 is the same race that is a part of the Horde. If tattoo customisations were brought in, they should be given the Blood Elves (and Void Elves I guess) rather than being reserved for a group that, I have to emphasise, is not playable.

There is no logic in getting annoyed at people seeking things for the actual playable races because you wish to use them for a group that is not playable and shows no signs of being made playable.

Your answer of garrisons is nonsensical and too much of a stretch. Garrisons are not player housing and even Blizzard knew they weren’t player housing. Everquest 2, TESO and FF14 has established what player housing was and what Blizzard was providing. Yet Blood Elves ARE High Elves.

We have the game director stating it directly (in his answers as to why Void Elves were created over adding High Elves), we have simple common sense too.

If it really was a big High Elf thing, you’d have thought Sylvanas Windrunner would have been covered in them as well, since she was Ranger General.

Indeed, even Liressa Windrunner yet she, like Sylvanas, is depicted as not having tattoos despite being Ranger General.

Tattoos for High Elves was a one-track record with Alleria and that’s it. I don’t think tattoos are a big thing for either High Elves or Farstriders…especially since neither of the last Quel’dorei Ranger Generals donned them
We have arcane runic facial tattoos on Blood Elf artwork.

It was Anasterian who ceded Quel’thalas from the alliance originally. And last time I checked Amani are not part of the current Horde. Try again.

I do hope we see both Amani and High Elves. More option to the players.

Dont say anything, its not being discussed in good faith. in a properly moderated forums this would be griefing. Just ignore as I did, so much better.

They will move the goalpost again. probably have back issues from it ahahahah

I did notice the wayfarers are not present in the VE starting area. Interesting.
