Quel’dorei High Elves as an Alliance allied race - 2024 (Part 1)

That is my exact arguement as to why the ‘everyone’ arguement does not hold up, so we are in agreement really.

I understand the frustration that came with the release of void elves on alliance side, I think that caught everyone by suprise, pretty sure everyone was expecting broken draenei (as it was the krokuul rep iirc that unlocked them) but that is entirely seperate from wether or who was statisfied with these void elves on a later point getting high elf customization. The release of velves and the release of helf customization for velves did not happen at the same time

I’m not saying the request isn’t going strong, I’m just saying its highly unlikely that there was no one for who the helf customizations were enough, all you have to do is look at RP realms to see thats not the case, more people playing velf with helf customizations then there are people playing velf with velf cusomization. Different people have different requirements to when something is enough to immerse themselves in it, for plenty looking like something is enough.

Now I do get that its not entirely fair to compare it to RPers, because a velf with helf customization will always be treated as a helf in character by the vast majority of RPers, so that confirmation of you being a helf is much more prevalent in RP. Meanwhile content players have to do with quest texts that are not built to differentiate.

As for the unification of tribes, if you are a high elf enjoyer (I personally am by proxy of being a belf enjoyer cause I think the belf/helf relations are the most interesting part about both of these sides) unification could also mean blizzard canonically folding the high elves under the void elves or blood elves which means they cease to exist as a seperate entity that blizzard has to write stories for seperate of the other elves. We’re also not getting faction specific stories anymore because and this is a theory; it’d get away in how fast they are pushing new content now. Further consolidation of plot points for faster storytelling is a potential monster hiding in the shadow of reunification. If they’ve already done it to the factions, why wouldn’t they do it to the helf/belf situation too?

I don’t think the ‘unification’ was ever going to be the hail mary helf enjoyers were waiting for, if anything I feel like it endangers the pressence of helves in the story.

Realistically, what will happen to the helves if they do unify with the belves?
they stop being different from the belves aka
they stop being

The blood elves have the number and high home tho, if anything it’d be blood elves tolerating high elves

but last we checked, blood elves still consider them as traitors to high kingdom who saw their individual selves as more important then the survival of the group (even tho its not that simple on the high elf side, but thats what makes the tragedy between this fractured race interesting)

And as I’ve asked others, what do you think will remain of high elves that will stay unique to high elves if they really do reunify with belves?

Because in the same way that blizzard is no longer treating the factions as seperate for quest design, who is to say they’re not trying to do the same to the thalassian elves?

I’m not making any lore arguements here, this is purely a do you trust blizzard to not make this reunification about consolidation so they have less chesspieces on the board they have to worry about?

I think Blizzard will know better than to touch the “holy grail”. The fan base of high elves is still a big one.

I assume it will also include Void Elves coming back to Quel’thalas to call it their home.

With that in mind, would it also blur the lines of what a High Elf, Blood Elf and Void Elf is.

But we will have to wait and see. This is all speculatory.

The things we do know is about midnight:

  • The battle between the Light and the Void
  • Reunification of the Elven Tribes
  • Datamind armor and npc models
  • Faction specific flight paths
  • Pesence of void elves in Windrunner Spire
  • Silverglade Refuge

I’m probably forgetting things. But that’s as much as we know.

Not void elves, they are very distinct, you can look at a void elf and say yeah thats a void elf without zooming in to see what the glow of their eyecolour is like, for example.

Blood Elf is not going to stop being horde so if the helves unify with the blood elves without them becoming a playable race, well…

I truely cannot see another outcome of ‘unification’ then simply dissolution of likely the high elves as they are the only of the three that are not a standalone playable race.

High elves returning to SMC would also just make them stop being high elves, they are high elves because of their exile, or rather the playable high elf experience is rooted in that exile, to demand them to come home is to just ask for blue blood elves.

I think if the community was as big as you imply it to be (to the point where we can consider it a holy grail of wow communities) blizzard would know and act accordingly.

I’m really not trying to sound like a fun ender or a bubble burster but these takes are out there man.

Yeah, they should know what mount the Alliance High elves use. But as always Blizzard devs trolling.

Seemed to be a updated version of the Silver covenant Hippogryphon they datamined for Midnight.

Green? didn’t they gave all green themes to Halduron Brightwing Farstriders for Midnight? But we get will get transmog green theme of his armor via quests as well plate, cloth and leather.

Unicorn and Silver Hippogryphon. But then Vereesa does have new tabard with Bird instead of their old Sun and Moon tabard in a HD Version.

Its even named Quel’dorai steed.

Could be.

I don’t think “all” Blood elves has a grudge against the Alliance High elves. Otherwise Halduron Brightwing would have invited Vereesa Windrunner to help with the Amani problem or worked with Vereesa during Legion. Some Young Farstriders even saw Vereesa as a hero in Legion and tired to prove themshelves for her. Same with Aethas Sunreaver and the rest of Sunreavers have ended their conflict with the Silver covenant in War within, even fought “for” each other and “protected” each other against the Nerubians. Even Aethas Sunreaver is trying make amends with Jaina and he is going to be working side by side with her again in the “New” Dalaran, the Kirin tor have been building since Cataclysm and probably be exhausting for both of them if they still angry with each other. Also back in TBC there were Blood elves who wanted to rejoin the Alliance. Where the Magisters had to “Brainwash” their “own people” to accept joining The Horde. Wonder if that conflict will stirr up again in Midnight.

If you are talking about Arthas and the Scourge in Warcraft 3. Then yes Dalaran fell a few days after Lordaeron when Lich King contacted Arthas “before” Silvermoon as Kel’thuzad needed a Magical Artifact from Dalaran for his “resurrection” before they attacked Silvermoon. Altough it was not as badly destroyed as Silvermoon and Lordaeron. As Arthas just needed the magical artifact from Dalaran. Its why there was nobody left in the Northern Eastern Kingdoms that could help Silvermoon as they were either dead or in hiding as the undead was everywhere in Northern Eastern Kingdoms. Nobody had heard from Gilneas since the wall was built North of Gilneas after Second war and they believed everyone in Gilneas was dead and Stromgarde fell before Second war even started so no help there either.

Umm…quess you haven’t heard the news.

Because despite his small role, he is the catalyst that pushed keal’thas to join Illidan and thus away from the alliance.

The guy also ordered the execution of keal’thas, a “king” of a different nation, imagine how the remaining eleves would feel about that, the last royal in the bloodline of our people killed by some human general? that alone would have been a cause for war if they had the power to do it.

He is small but important part of their development that lead to joining the horde.

I could be mistaken but I recall they were forced into it, Garrosh was increasingly taking more direct control of the horde forces and disobidance was met with harsh punishments.

And for the sake of it
Leading up to joining hands with the horde, the alliance had already made friends with the night elves who are not friendly towards their high elven kin because they were very anti magic at the time.
The Draenei had also recently linked up and they were likewise dealing with hostile Blood elves.

The dialogue outside of Zul’aman proves different as she says she will defend Quel’thalas to defend it from the trolls even if Halduron doesn’t want her there, she even dismisses Lor’Themar at that point and the messenger that requests them to leave. But that is RP that is frozen in the cata era. So I can see them move on from legion and onward as you said, I agree.

Exactly, he however should have contact Lor’Themar. But turning to diplomacy is something that is often flawed in the old story of Warcraft and if he did council Lor’Themar about the issue, I am sure the Blood Elves would have deflected from the Horde at that point in time. So for story sake, I see why he didn’t council Lor’Themar. But those are what if scenario’s. Even they were forced it still doesn’t make them less complicit.

I think we are forgetting about the escort quest in Warcraft 3 where Tyrande and Maiev escorted the Blood Elven caravan. If they really were on such bad terms they would have not even helped them in that moment.

The real reason was this

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/former-wow-dev-confirms-blood-elves-to-horde/1692312/5

But I’ll circle back to the thing, let me make this clear. Alliance isn’t asking for the blood elves of Quel’Thalas. They want the exiled High Elves. Totally different group of elves :eyes:

I do feel that sentiment kinda got thrown away with the Purge of Dalaran which effectively ensured Blood Elves would always be under suspicion in the Alliance. The crux of Nightborne Event which also included Alleria’s exile from Silvermoon was that the Horde after removing Garrosh accepted Blood Elves as they are. They don’t have to prove or change anything about themselves. Something impossible in the Alliance where Night Elves are still sour about the Arcane Magic Deal.

You re totally wrong

Arthas needed KT body + his father ashes + sunwell to resurrect the necromancer as a lich

Attacking dalaran was about summoning Archimonde with the medhiv’s book and destroy the city

Dalaran was attacked after Silvermoon

Today a random mage cant teleport himself from a city to another one.

Do you think Antonidas and his magis werent able to tp to silvermoon and help the elves?
You know these same elves who teach magic to humans.

Why are you lying? Human.

I don’t understand why high elves worship humans. Humans are liars, cowards and elves killers.

Humans and dwarves often make fun of high elf ears by comparing them to those of donkeys, swine, or worst of all goblins.

These are you friends, dear HE fan club.

For vereesa and the silver covenant, it was vengeance

vengeance of what ? The bomb was dropped in an alliance town, not elvish one.

Jaina and Silver covenant commited a genocide against blood elves. not on a horde city.

+even if someone says "the sunreavers did this and this…

the sunreavers are not the Sin’dorei society.

The silver covenant are the MAJOR, almost the entire, high elves society

We don´t know that their motivations were. At least Aethas was 100% for neutrality and was (in cutscene that didn´t make it into live version of the game, but was referenced to in 5.2, so it´s kinda canon?) forced by Garry´s troops to be quiet…kind of.
The story is IMO pretty badly done in this regard, since what happens in the cutscene is that orcs exit the portal that Sunreavers made for them, they encounter Aethas, threaten him so he keeps quiet and leave, right before Jaina enters.
And, for some mysterious reason, Aethas Sunreaver makes the bright decision to worry more about what Garrosh in Orgrimmar is going to do rather than Jaina right in front of him and decides to go all tight-lipped and smug. Big brain.

Unfortunately, the moment you start digging into Purge storyline, you find out that it´s just a pure mess filled with bugs, cut content, conflicting portrayals and NPCs that don´t say anything.
The famous example of “Covenant was feeding Sunreavers to the sharks!”…is actually one guy holding one guy over a pool with shark, and he only drops him when you attack.
Was the high elf interrogating the blood elf? Was he just threatening him to find out something? Would he feed him to the shark if CHAMPYUN! didn´t throw an axe to his face? Were there previous victims? Was it just for fun? Settling scores?
We don´t know, because he has literally zero lines, but has been used as some proof of mass shark-feeding programme since 2012.

They were given the chance to leave willingly but they refused. They resisted and attacked. If they resisted but surrendered they would have been imprisoned. They choose violence themselves.
For Vereesa it was vengeance for the Sun Reavers exile and grief.

They never forgave being exiled from Quel’thalas.

Civilians have no weapons you can show on the video Jaina is slaying non armed civilians npcs

So kill people , soldiers and civilians (and poor mounts?==WTF???) is justice for having been exiled ?? LOL

rewatch the purge video. 4:36 - Fireball on poor civilians NPC? Probably not sunreavers??? she casts fireball against the poor girl who fearly runway

4:46 another war crime against a civilian

are you blind ?

They are aligned with the Blood Elves and by extend the Sun Reavers. As they represented the Horde in the city. Be it that the other Horde races left.

So you re telling to me that.

If a [Random IRL civilians group] are aligned with [Random IRL army/terrorists] who represent [Random IRL governement] then its ok to kill these civilians?

It’s not. I never said that, but she also offered them a chance to leave peacefully.

Out of pride/prejudice that they feel they have claim to Dalaran, contra the argument that High Elves have a claim to Quel’thalas even when being exiled. Lor’themar did the same to the High Elves that refused to leave Quel’thalas. Not sure if it’s to the extend of what we see with the purge of Dalaran, but he deployed simular tactics.

So in essence, it’s history repeating itself.

I would like to add something else that people are thinking wrong.

the green eyes of the blood elves are a side effects like drugs.

Kael’thas beseeched Illidan for a cure to the blood elves’ addiction to magic. Illidan had a different proposal in mind, though: in return for the blood elves’ loyalty, he would teach them to drain magic from powerful alternative sources, including demons.

draining MAGIC, not draining FEL.

blood elves never been fel crackheads but magic addicted.

AS USUAL AND AS HIGH ELVES

You can state that “i m an elf who refuse to drain life forms for magic” but not “i refuse to be a fel addicted like these ones”

let make an IRL analogy.

We are both humans (ewww xD)

our plane crashed in a wild forest. After 2 days we see no river or water sources. And we are THIRSTY

  1. me the blood elf human ( :dracthyr_hehe_animated: ) decides I m gonna catch fishes and rabbits and drink their inside water/blood to survive

  2. you the high elf human ( :dracthyr_hehe_animated: ) decides to survive by doing meditation and stuff like that

who has the most successful chance to survive?

you have to remember this again :

in warcraft 3 : TFT there is NO high elves survivors.

Even the Jenalla Demspring is from warcraft 3 : RoC

So during the Blood elves campaign, in TFT, all quel dorei are Sin dorei and all have necessity to manage the THIRST ! or its death or worst

So you cant, even with retcons, to throw reproachs to a group of people who choose to survive by absorb lives for draining magic source. by using your “you HE” argument “we are better we did not” .

Because when this alternative solution for survive was decided, survivors HE didnt exist

in 2025, even with retcons, HE survivors dont exist in warcraft 3 : TFT , when blood elves decided to take reproachable decisions for survive

and excuse me but this obsession is a non sense.

I m irl vegan and when you say to me that "killing lives for draining magics to manage thirst is AWFUL when high elves and also blood elves kill animals to manage the HUNGER.

just LOL :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Do not tell me that you believe that quel’dorei are vegan or vegetarian ? LOL

That’s a weird resemblance to make as High Elves did feed their magic addiction by other means.

Be it via moonwells, Magical relics and so on.

I don’t know where you pull that the green from the eyes is not related to the fel. As it is stated their eyes went green from the fel magic consumption.

The worse thing for an elf to happen, is that they would become wretched if they consumed too much magic. Unlike the nightborne withered, these come from being disconnected from magic. The wretched come from consuming too much.

But what do you call the High Elves that moved with Jaina to Kalimdor then or those who lived in Dalaran? There are holes in the information you provide. So please justify those groups for me
Because you just, by that statement invalidated those Elves.

*But we are deviating from the original debate because this we are not talking wether or not there are even High Elves at all, if they didn’t exist they wouldn’t be present in the game. So let’s keep it to the actual debate rather than skipping back of forth between the events from Dalaran and so on.

*Edit: additional information.
