I admit it’s kind of annoying, but if that’s the price for playable High Elves, I don’t mind.
I was blown away when they actually gave normal skin tones to the Ren’dorei back then in SL, I didn’t expect that to happen.
Now we just need face tattoos for all Thalassian Elves and playable Ogres for the Horde and my inner Warcraft 2 Fanboy can finally rest.
I was once one of those absolutists who wanted an allied race, simply because customisations were just options on a screen while a race had a starting area, voice lines, and an unlock quest.
But now, I’m more open minded about customisations, especially if Void Elves get more class choice. My complaints about them were chiefly about how they were undercooked lorewise, how few their customisations are, and how there aren’t many classes you can play them as. Now, it seems Midnight will be rectifying that.
If Void Elves get High Elf customisations and get Paladins, I’ll stop posting on these threads. Heck, I might even do something I have never done before as a gesture of good faith: level a Hordie past 20
What further customisations do you actually need you were given all blood elf skin tones in shadowlands? I agree void elves need further customizations (as do most races) but they should be void themed in nature as described with the void elf fans customization thread. Your void elf is never going to be an uncorrupted high elf and trying to get more is not only being greedy but disrespectful to Void Elves.
I never batted an eye at that because canonically, mana wyrms that get that big are anomalies, this is why you generally only saw bigger ones in Netherstorm in TBC, but not for example in QT and they’re probably not tame enough to let you ride them.
The hawkstrider wasn’t for a paid transaction so I’m not sure how thats related, I did heritage for the set.
Belves also got the Blood Knight colour variant of the Antorus paladin set after so all in all belves have not had it bad historically.
They’re consistently used by blood elf NPCs since 9.2.5, as I said in the comment you’ve replied to. They’re literally the flight path mounts of more blood elven camps of Dragonscale Expedition.
That would explain why I didn’t know, I made 0 use of those and generally I avoided most of the dragon isles whenever I was done with the story except for the dream patch where I didn’t do anything
I’m going to keep my eyes open tho, I’m not entirely convinced this wasn’t a danuser moment, they’re currently also slicing up shadowlands and reintroducing it back to us with different context so who knows what else is going to be.
Also I would argue that the manawyrm never really replaced the Dragonhawk and them putting it on flightmasters was probably more advertisement then lore.
Do we know anything about the flight paths used in Alpha and what animal they use?
There’s a simple solution: make it a toggle like the Dracthyr Visage thing. If it’s active, then you can sometimes turn blue in combat. If it’s not, you don’t. The stat effect could still apply, regardless.
It sure sounds simple - but I’m no programmer to say whether it’s simple to implement or not. Anyways, yea, that’s something that won’t affect me, so no reason for me to oppose THAT.
What you are pointing at, literally pointing at, is that the NPCs here have flavour text. I mean they know that you want this and haven’t moved on it in a decade. You are conflating worldbuilding with something more, though I must confess I am unsurprised given even the very appearance of an Alliance High Elf NPC over the years has been enough to trigger forum posts and multiple links to screenshots of those NPCs as some kind of proof.
And it won’t be in 12 months. It has effectively been ruled out for Midnight. You simply don’t flick a switch and decide to add an Allied race. They are literally working on the end of the Last Titan as we speak and probably planning out the next saga. There is no sign of any Horde equivalent, which would be required and you cannot argue Amani; they simply are not up to the levels of the Haranir in terms of customisation and if they had been intended as an Allied race they would be ready to go, NOW, just as the Haranir were. And as THIS is the expansion Alliance High Elves would have made the most narrative sense in, their absence pretty much confirms they aren’t coming.
You think we will be in the middle of Northrend and have to come back to Quel’thalas to get you Alliance High Elves? Or that we will be in the Arathi Empire and have to stop the story for the same?
Nope. This is copium and Alliance High Elves having some flavour text is as big an indicator as any random group having flavour text. I.E. Nothing of the sort. A real indicator would have been Amani Trolls clearly being prepped to be playable, but they very much clearly are not.
You have my completely sympathy and support against people who want to turn your chosen race into something it isn’t.
Except its the thin end of the wedge. The point isn’t that this is impossible for the programmers, it is that they want to strip Void Elves of anything that makes them Voidy so they can pretend to be something they aren’t. Do you know of any other race in the game that faces demands from those who despise that race to change them into something else? And you think they’ll stop at the racial. Next they’ll want more High Elf customisations, preferably at the cost of void themed customisations (only so much art time after all). Then they’ll want rid of then reverb in the voice. And they’ll want the nameplate changed.
Remember, they think you are a mistake and that as THEY were the target audience, they think they have the right to demand you be ‘fixed’ to their standards.
And we have no lore that those constructed dragons are fully replacing hippogryphs in lore.
Also…on one hand, Blizzard putting store mount into the game to be used by NPC faction is a worrying precedent because they’re trying to get people to spend money on it, but on the other, Blizzard putting store mount into the game to be used by NPC faction is OK because it’s just advertisement?
Is this some desperate urge to never admit to be wrong?
The thing you find worrying to the point of seething about it for hours has already happened before and I find it odd that when it’s pointed out to you, your reaction is “oh, that’s just advertisement, I’ll admit it’s not OK too after multiple messages, I guess”.
