Because it’s a very strong argument that High Elves are basically only the Foundation for Blood Elves, there’s really no real reason in culture or optics - aside from the faction and eye colors. They are as close as Mulgore Tauren and High Mountain Tauren, with only a few visual differences.
By giving the Alliance High Elves (as they are right now), Blizzard would basically just copy the Blood Elves. I guess that’s why they created the visual distinction with the Void Elves - even though the normal skin tones are undermining that assumption. After that, they could as well let players chose if they want to play a VE or a HE - they are both minorities and by now, it wouldn’t really make a difference anymore.
This is exactly the reason why nobody supports you.
Well, that’s a matter of taste. Many people (me included) said exactly that when the Ren’dorei were introduced.
He… didn’t mention Teldrassil. How illiterate can you be?
The cool part may be subjective but it is objective that both factions already have thalassian elves that can look just like a high elf fan would want their elves to look.
So its not a new race. Its a rebrand of what we have.
The argument was the past is always in reach by talking to a certain NPC. When they say old Silvermoon is still there you can say the same about Teldrassil. Facts is the place will change forever.
Of course they do. The alliance betrayed them multiple times in the past. And tried to ereadicate them at serveral chances. They are the Horde race which arguably has the most beef with them now.
I don’t really agree. The high elves who are today are, in my opinion, trauma scarred and strong willed individuals on principle however with the character flaw of being individualistic Meanwhile the blood elves are more utilatrian, they think about their people and their future. Looking ahead, trying to make the best of what they’re dealt.
The history and characterization between the two races are completely different. While yes they look the same and have the origin from the same people they really aren’t the same today. Though, we don’t really know what HE’s are like today because that story hasn’t been written
And blood elf should’ve been a neutral race in the first place. It makes no sense for them to be aggressive against the alliance. It was the undead that destroyed silvermoon. They just teamed up with the Horde because it was convenient and helped them rebuild
That’s true.
I think the maximum that the HE community can hope for is more customization options and transmog for the VE. They would basically be the “Wildhammer clan” among the Elves - with stylish tattoos and lore presence, but in the end, being only a visual variation.
And that’s the point, the only organized High Elf group we have ingame is the Silver Covenant - the few other Quel’dorei are scattered across the continents. In short: There’s nothing that really makes them distinctive from the Blood Elves except the optics.
Blizzard could have reinvented them, but they chose to do that with the Void Elves.
I disagree. There was the Garithos incident that bascially burned the bridge to the Alliance, it was an undead HUMAN prince who destroyed their home and the Alliance didn’t really reach out to the Elves until Garrosh’s regime.
I have seen quite a few people advocating for something like the Man’ari. A quest or something. You unlock a costumization, in this case could be tattoos different effect on the racial and maybe replace void with high.
Thats a compromise. Does not take anything away from anyone.
And I think it would be totally fine. Let’s face it, at this point, there is only a void procc and the name of the race that separates Void Elves from High Elves. They gave the Man’ari skin tones a Fel sigil instead of a Light sigil, as far as I’m concerned they could give the Ren’dorei an option for a blue arcane procc instead of a mandatory void procc and be done with it.
(With new customization options, for all races. With tentacle heavy void stuff for the VE, of course!)
Why do blood elf fans keep ignoring their own logic?
Just a reminder, you haven’t answered yet:
The issue with that is that no matter how you might look at it, VElves in general require a whole revamp of their customizations. Ever since they’ve been added, some hairstyle options float really poorly above the head. They also don’t fit the criteria of neither Elves, nor Void-y aesthetics.
And while the female options aren’t too bad, they’re very few in number. So a full update is really needed to the pre-existing hairs too. in addition to more hairstyles all across the board.
To put it in perspective, BElves have double the amount of hair options that VElves have. 25F and 23M to the VElves’ 11 female and 13 male options.
I went to check the High Elf wayfarers to expand on my idea to start on telegrus and decide to go voidy or not, and they have been removed in dragonflight.
All of this happened because high elf fans complained hard enough until Blizzard gave them a real position of power. Midnight might be our fall out and be the WOD for the Orcs. Blizzard has a run in on ruining Horde races for no reason so I go in with zero expectations.
To be honest, i think the silver covenant is going to go void and join the rendorei and that will be the way the groups get linked.
Now, not go void in the sense of full void elves, but i think the sunwell is going to get changed permanently into a well of arcane, light, and void. Meaning the void runs through all thalassian elves.
But enough to justify the racial proc as in character.
The funny thing about the High Elf Wayfarers is that they’re still there, somehow. If you click on the Silvermoon Scholar NPCs, a half of them will be using High Elven greetings for some reasons.
My personal interpretation hinges on what happens with Alleria by the end of the raid. We know that she gets separated from the Dark Naaru’s essence she consumed. The question is whether or not she survives and becomes functionally a High Elf again, or dies in the raid.
Because if she does survive, it opens up the precedent of Void Elves becoming, indeed, High Elven again. And in turn, open up High Elven customizations. As well as merging the VElves and HElves into one group. Which has been my hope since the start. It feels off that the VElves aren’t coordinating more often with their allied kin.
