Quel’dorei High Elves as an Alliance allied race - 2024 (Part 1)

Hah, i had the same thought a while ago

Alliance fans acting high and mighty as usual.

Oh please yes please. The whole idea of Alliance High Elves does need to end, and this is the perfect way to fully end it.

Or it could go the other way around and it becomes a playable (neutral) race. Who knows, this whole topic consists of wants/wishes/desires.

Personally I don’t think they’ll shelf the race as it’ll upset a part of their playerbase. But we shall see.

That is never going to happen, as long as Blood and Void are playable.

If it were going to happen…

1.) You’d have a Horde equivalent prepared. Amani Trolls are not it, what has been datamined from them is nowhere equal to the gold standard of Haranir and Earthen and Dracthyr.

2.) You wouldn’t have a developer on twitter making a general statement for folks to really call out for the races they want. Nor would that developer gently push back when the conversation focused on Alliance High Elves specifically. He’d remain quiet. He’d also know, given he would have been involved in creating the breadcrumb quests from a hypothetical starting point to the Alliance embassay in Stormwind.

They are aware of the popularity, and its a highly requested race for the Alliance.

Edit: Sorry, the most requested Race.

Indeed.

I’m not too optimistic, as we know the stubbornness of Blizzard and the “You think you do, but you don’t”-mentality. Perhaps we’ll end up with more customization, but anything extensive seems off the table.

Such a tone-deaf atmosphere is hard to pierce, and it doesn’t help when there’s a lot of people who are telling you to leave the multibillion dollar company alone either.

They’ve been aware of the popularity for YEARS. Not sure how much longer you have to wait for the penny to drop that popularity does not equal certainty, else it would have been done in Midnight…else it would have been done back in BFA.

But hey the game has to enter maintenance mode sometime right?

Imagine an alternative universe when void elves will see playable paladins for them but still no playable High elves in the alliance

oh wait…

At least we’re here to talk about something we want added to the game we love.

You’re just here for the entropy, to feed on peoples hopes and wishes like a wretched looking for his next fix.

There’s two ways this ends.

Either alliance high elves are added to the game as a separate race or through a customisation set

Or

Blizzard ends up shutting down WoW’s servers, which means we don’t get high elves in WoW.

I don’t see High Elves going extinct as Blizzard doesn’t really do genocide/races dying out entirely in their stories. Also, if High Elves were absorbed into the other two cultures (blood and void), they would have done so a long time ago.

As long as the game is alive, people are well within their rights to shout about what they want, especially paying customers.

You don’t love this game. You wish to rewrite it and everything everyone else has invested in it to suit your own selfish interpretation of what should be.

But that’s where you’re wrong.

What we want already exists in the game, we just want to be able to play them.

What you want is a duplicate of a core Horde race. If you want to play it so badly, it is already there. Only person stopping you is you. Not me, not Blizzard. You.

congratz Magi, you finally understood after all of that thread feeding that they only want to rewrite the story and make :turtle: their dream

We’ve been over this.

Even Blizzard agrees that High Elves are their own thing, with their own niche, hence why they’re represented as a contrasting force in the game, that is Alliance-centric.

They exist in game, and they deserve to be a playable race to complete the triad that is Quel’dorei, Sin’dorei and Ren’dorei.

No, Blizzard doesn’t agree with that.

I’ve seen two sets of datamined gear types in Midnight, Blood Elven and Void Elven. I didn’t see a special set for Alliance High Elves.

I’ve seen two sets of datamined weapons in Midnight, Blood Elven and Void Elven. I didn’t ese a special set for Alliance High Elves.

I see Void Elves having a large presence in the story from spoilers. I see the few remaining Alliance High Elves clustered at the very edge of Quel’thalas sulking. That’s not participation, that’s signs of life at best.

This is a light-void expansion, not light-void-we really like alliance high elves. There is no triad. There is a duality.

And overall, I see that the old notion of ‘we really want them, therefore they are bound to give them to us’ is alive and well and keeping false hope alive, even as everything found in Midnight datamining shows no sign of it happening.

So a teensy bit of a reality check regarding just how effective their popularity has been at swaying Blizzard. Given Blizzard has nuked their own forums a few times over the years, I had to go to MMO-Champion to find this, but here it is.

14th of November 2011, just after the announcement of Mists of Pandaria.

I wonder if Mr.Knighthonor is still waiting and thinking that just because he really wants it he will get them? Probably not. The same amount of time from today is October 2039, just to give a sense of timescale.

Sadly from what I glimpsed from Alpha info the Light here is mostly carried out by Alleria’s Husband being increasingly closer to Scarlet crusade.

For the love of god the Blood Elves primarily sit in the background while Windrunner Family Drama unveils and our companion during Eversong Woods is freaking Umbric

I have my suspicions that the final patch of the expansion will be light themed, as otherwise the final boss will be Xal’atath and I am crossing my fingers she is the final boss of the last titan.
