Hello everyone. I’ve played Warcraft 3 RoC and Frozen Throne 22 years ago, I always liked the High Elves in the Alliance i wanted to play them very bad i hope one day we get to play them.
We got Void elves but thats a cheap move by blizzard and it’s not a middle ground i don’t like it.
Please after 22 years us HighElves fan deserve to have them as playable characters.
And the game will still rein in their Fantasy. Players pretending to not be Penitents will still be friendly to Alliance and Hostile to legion. Dracthyr will still revert to their dragon form whenever they use their racial or in combat if you’re Evoker. The Visage is literally written as their lore though. And you can already pretend to not be tainted elf except the racial will make you go void in combat. Or you’ll be unable to enter Ironforge and Stormwind and be occasionally refered as Horde if you take the other route.
Except you want another step further. You want to disable purple blood, Racial skill visuals and reverb in the voice so you can fully be allowed your fantasy in a way Dracthyr and Playable Man’ari can’t.
You seriously don’t see a difference in the level of demand here?
I’d personally be happy with the passive toggle effect. I think Void Elves would like that option as well. Blizzard has already done that to a degree with Blessing of the Naaru for Man’ari, whether it’ll be changed or allowed to be an optional toggle doesn’t matter to me.
As for the rest? Eh, it’s unlikely to happen unless they make some big changes to customization overall.
“They were transformed by void ethereals but rescued by Alleria Windrunner, who had gained mastery of the Void herself on Argus and taught them how to control their dark powers.”
Let me control the power then, instead of a silly passive.
Of course you wouldn’t put much meaning into it. The confirmation that they consider core fantasies of importance is exactly what I have been trying to convey to those of you who keep reaching for the ‘personal customization’ rationale as if it was a trump card. The Core Fantasy of a Void Elf is being a void transformed thalassian elf.
Your ‘suggestions’ undermine that and always have done. Why would they even promote the concept of a core fantasy on the one hand, and then turn around and wreck the core fantasy of void elves on the other? You’ve said before, you either don’t care, or say they can come up with some ridiculous cover story to justify it which is simply another way of saying you don’t care.
But it’s fine if you don’t care. They’ll just continue to develop the game their way.
Exactly. Man’ari Draenei expand the Draenei race, and they hope to be Draenei again themselves through repentence. It also helps that there isn’t a race of Man’ari Draenei present on the Horde, meaning players didn’t have the option to begin with.
And again, exactly. Their proposals are designed to undermine the core fantasy of the Void Elves, at best they think a story can be constructed to justify it, at worst they simply don’t care how it is done, so long as it is done.
I don’t think Void Elves care if their Racial Turns them Purple in combat. I Honestly didn’t even notice that on my Warlock Void Elf (Which for the RP purposes would still refer to himself as Blood Elf because he could hardly care about identifying himself as distinct being, he’s too busy with his research)
Most players don’t. These guys do, because it reminds them they are a Void Elf. And it is indicative of the core fantasy of what a void elf is. Now, objectively, this isn’t going to happen. They MAY remove the racial at some point, or alter it, but they aren’t going to provide a toggle to placate some RP’ers. Particularly, as you point out, it’s a slippery slope. They won’t be satisifed, they will want more. Nothing short of perfection will suffice.
