From the one time I decided to play Alliance with a Void Elf looking non-voidish, I always took the “Void eruption” as a game mechanic and didn’t let it impact my overall experience.
Because if I allowed game mechanics impact my enjoyment of something, then I’d probably be unable to play anything due to something not aligning with my whatever-fantasy.
I… Honestly can’t remember what it was she was saying. And probably didn’t get bothered because I’m reasonable enough to understand that Alliance Faction Leader would probably not appreciate my Hordie character
The people who complained are disowned from the Horde.
Mostly because all the arguments and demands in my eyes boil down to “Give us a copy-paste of the Blood Elves, only they’re called High Elves. Oh, and the Alliance shall have access to both Void Elves and High Elves.”
That’s the kind of thing that makes me think it’s utterly ridiculous as far as wanting a particular race, within the same territory as wanting Naga or Arakkoa to be playable.
Unfortunately that isn’t something that will be all that feasable, considering where Midnight’s going.
The main issue here is since we don’t live in a perfect world, where logic wins, and where we have to abide Blizzards sub-par writing and backpaddling decisions that make everything unnecessarily complex. (Should be a thread on its own, lol)
Then to make it worse they say one thing and do another.
They flaunt Alliance High Elves infront of us for years, and then you’ll have some dev clumsily say that "High Elves already joined the Horde" when people request their implementation. (sigh)
They’re inconsistent, half of them don’t even know their own lore and to make it worse the deparments barely talk to eachother at the company, hence the apparent disconnect.
Good for you.
That is not the way most feel, however.
If you’re consistently playing a High Elf, and actually play the game, the frequency of the passive is too much.
This is already not including the voice reverb, and the greasy hair styles, etc.
At the end of the day, it amounts to a small amount of customization to make a vast majority of players feel seen. We’ve not even been officially recognized yet, at least you get an achievement to get official Amani customization as a Troll.
First of all: It wouldn’t be any more copy paste than the several identical dual faction races we have. Blizzard themselves recognize the differences between Alliance High Elves and Blood Elves. The idea that it’s theft or a copy-paste is false. We’re not asking to be Silvermoon Blood Elves anymore than a Tushui Pandaren is asking to be a Houjin Pandaren.
High Elves and Blood Elves should’ve been the official first dual-faction race.
Then they could’ve just added Void Elves as an extension later, but instead we have to deal with this mess.
Secondly: We already have the customization to look like one - we want some long requested nuance, and recognition - we were already overlooked before, now it’s just ridiculous.
Grand Alliance was formed (or reformed if you prefer) from Renmants of the Alliance of Lordaeron. Stormwind was the Last Remaining human Kingdom of that formation after Stormgrade and Gilneas Left, Kul’Tiras lost Admiral Proudmoore and Lordaeron and Dalaran were sacked by the Scourge with the latter retreating under their barrier. Dwarves of Khaz Modan and Gnomes of Gnomeregan were also part of the old alliance. Meaning they are even closer to their older version that the New Horde is.
From what little I glimpsed on the US forums Alliance Players already feel offended because Blood Elf NPC don’t like them despite them being there to save them and not having access to the core part of Silvermoon.
I can’t say I wholeheartedly care how people who let a game mechanic bother them feel.
The only thing I’d be willing to budge on is allowing the hairstyles to be shared.
That’s it.
I hate you.
Bah, those people should get over themselves. Probably the same people who took great umbrage with the Arathi being a less charismatic and entertaining version of Garithos, even though those people have every reasonable reason to be anti-nonhuman (Particularly against The Horde. I mean, that old fortress is a bit of an eyesore)
It’s a forum, a thread that I skimmed for a hundred comments, and decided to make a comment that I think the High Elf wanters are ridiculous.
What of it?
Yeah, I don’t like people who talk about “Feeling seen”, because that’s typically the kind of verbiage complete narcissists use.
That is fairly amusing. I sometimes have the same thing happen to me
Hmm, naaah. The time I started the verbiage being used is when it came from people who had clear narcisssistic tendencies, who basically made demands that unless they get whatever they want, then the game is terrible and they’ll refuse to play.
Basically “Give us X thing or I refuse to play and you’re all evil” sort of thing.
I’ve learned how to hate. About a decade ago I wouldn’t be so open to hating someone.
Fast forward to today and I think hatred is perfectly valid and should be used more often.
Well, you keep insisting on wanting High Elves, when you already have Void Elves. Like, wanting High Elves ALONG with High Elves, so you’d basically be running around with two of the same race with all the customization being shared between them.
How is that not ridiculous?
A bit disturbing that you’d quickly jump to thinking about preteens.
After reading the more recent comments, there does seem to be some hypocrisy going on regarding blood and void elves.
High elves cant merge back into blood elf society because that would alter the blood elves and thats not fair to blood elf fans. (Even though it wouldn’t change a thing)
But void elves can receive a load of high elf customisation which would alter what it means to be a void elf, but thats fine because void elves are high elves so it fits still?
Seems like changing a race is only an issue when it’s done in a way that stops high elves being playable…
Well, obviously most of us still play, even if we can’t fulfill the full fantasy of Alliance High Elves.
Maybe taking it out on people who just want a few customizations isn’t the right way to channel your frustrations?
You could pick up a sport!
It’s not ridiculous, because Void Elves at the end of the day are Void Elves.
In a perfect world we’d have High Elves as the base line for Alliance, and Void Elves being a cool extension like Man’ari are to Draenei.
We already run around with races on both factions that are identical, it’s not an argument anymore.
Am partaking in some MMA, but I don’t see how doing sports excludes me from telling people who’re being stupid on game forums that they’re being stupid.
Maybe stop being ridiculous and you will be able to stop from blaming me being rude to you.
