It does ring a bell and I do remember a Brigante posting. I was unaware he had passed but I am sorry to hear it.
That area uses vanilla assets. Why would it use vanilla assets if intended for anything else? There are plenty of modern Eversong assets now available.
Here’s a wild theory. It’s just a bit of landscaping to fill in a gap between where they plugged into the Plaguelands. It’s right next to Silverglade because they stuck Silverglade at the very edge of the map, and that is where the gap was.
So why bother giving this zone a thalassian name and placing it in Quel’Thalas ? Could have just been a forest of the Western plaguelands. This zone was never part of Quel’Thalas to begin with and that’s really interesting. Could be a patch zone.
It IS a forest of the western plaguelands. It even turns plagued abutting Stratholme. It’s probably called the thalassian range because of proxmity to Quel’thalas proper, but its actually not very accessible from the refuge. You seem to have to fly to get there. It’s just the same sort of filler they used during the cataclsym when they had to fill in the gaps between zones once we could fly over them or where new zones were added.
I’m not talking zone boundaries, I am talking assets, and it uses the western plagueland asset set. It is simply filler for when one area fades into the next.
If this were intended for anything to do with Alliance High Elves, why doesn’t it use Eversong woods assets?
Why do you need flight to access it from the refuge?
Wasn’t Frostmourne capable of rending souls? Yeah apparently it’s SL change but it does seem like the Blade didn’t take entirety of Arthas soul. Because the soul would be still needed even if he turned undead.
They they should just have filled the zone with mountains and not bother giving it a thalassian name. If they’re still working on it with a complete different landscape obviously they won’t give it Eversong Assets.
Why? Is there any other reason it had to be mountains other than to squash idle speculation? It is more attached to Stratholme than Quel’thalas and makes it more believable people would have built a human city in that region before the plague hit.
If the range is something that physically separates Human Kingdoms and Quel’thalas the naming makes sense even if it’s not meant to be a place that’s inhabited.
It’s attached to the human city because you can actually walk to the outskirts of the human city from there. When Stratholme was inhabited, it is easy to imagine them making use of the area.
The range part is becasue it is the tops of the rugged hills. And the thalassian part is because it is the border region between Lordaeron and Quel’thalas.
Now, you confess yourself mystified by my supposed lack of logic, but you shouldn’t be.
But if you think your logic is superior, you can explain why this area you have decided is for Alliance High Elves…
1.) Uses Plaguelands assets from vanilla
2.) Is completely inaccessible from Quel’thalas, you have to fly.
3.) Doesn’t have anything in the way of mobs. In fact, I don’t even think it has any critters.
It’s filler. You are overthinking this. If Silverwind Refuge is an Alliance High Elf starting point, they need a Stormwind portal because they will be leaving the area immediately to go to Stormwind. That is it.
I’m not overthiking this since it’s just speculation. You overreject it because you don’t like the idea, and don’t want to hear about it
This zone has long been speculated to be the place where High elves took refuge. This isn’t new. And maybe Blizzard will do something with it, we don’t know.
There are other filler areas which are empty and pointless too. That’s because they are filler.
And yes, Silverglade refuge seems more than sufficient for what is left of the Silver Covenant given that they have participated in Dalaran’s wars against…
1.) Malygos.
2.) The Lich King
3.) Garrosh
4.) The Nighthold
5.) Xal’atath, when Dalaran got nuked.
For a group that was tiny to begin with, I am not surprised. And, if you actually go there…the gazebo is empty. It has two attendants on the outside, but nobody actually in it…
I mean most pro High Elfers have been arguing the population issue with Alliance High Elves doesn’t matter…not that it doesn’t exist.
