Name one request where a section of the playerbase has demanded that a currently implemented be modified to be a different race. This is an unprecedented demand.

Void Elves are High Elves. It’s not a different race from a biological perspective. Besides, having a toggle for Entropic Embrace doesn’t even begin to turn them into a different race, so I’m not really sure where you’re going with that.

A subjective irrelevance. You have no evidence that that is the case, merely your own gut feelings. Furthermore, they could have done what an even bigger bloc of players did and played a Blood Elf, an authentic High Elf. The Void Elf exists on its own terms and with its own lore. If you want to play a Blood Elf, play a Blood Elf. If you want to play something similar on the Alliance, play the Void Elf but accept that the Void Elf is it’s own thing.

That’s rich, coming from the guy who speaks as if though he were Chris Metzen on these subjects.

Incorrect. I am suggesting a toggle which lets Void Elf players choose whether or not to turn blue during the influence of Entropic Embrace. You know, giving Void Elf players the choice to customise their Void Elf character the way they feel is the most appropriate for their interpretation of what their unique Void Elf character is like.

But go on, dear Blood Elf, and tell Void Elf players what they should and should not desire for their characters.

Not everyone shares your outlandish opinion about making changes to the game. WoW has literally seen hundreds of iterations, and I’ve been here for every single one of them. If anything, placing every race inside some arbitrary stasis bubble where they can’t change over time just seems to counter to what the game is and always has been. Literally none of the races today are what they were in 2004.

Does it never occur to you that you are the one that’s selfish and greedy? (something you always accuse helfers of) - The duplication already happened, we can already look like High Elves on Alliance, now we just want to not have a passive that ruins the little immersion we have.

Yes, and? The lore for concealing the passive doesn’t have to break the immersion of what it means to be a Void Elf.

Lore that doesn’t exist and which you demand be created, not because it chimes with the fantasy of being a void elf, but so you personally can obscure that fantasy. Again, you are chose to be a Void Elf. You didn’t have to, but you did. The void is part and parcel of the racial fantasy.

It’s even in the fricking name.

Who cares how or why, it’s a simple non-harmful way to please a large amount of people. Draenei can appear as Man’ari, and their racial is changed to reflect the players choice when they do. Void Elves should be able to appear as authentic High Elves, with their passive reflecting the players choice.

Uncorrupted High Elves exist on Alliance in game, and if I won’t be able to play them in whole, I want to at least play them in part and Void Elves being able to toggle their racial doesn’t make them any less Void Elf.

You’re a Void Elf. They aren’t going to give you a damn toggle. If you want an uncorrupted High Elf play Horde, or play classic+.

We’ll see.

It’s always nice to come here and read your posts - I feel a sense of unity and support, and it’s comforting to know I’m not the only one who loves and waits for the High Elves.

Except for Kaeros - he’s such a bore, still writing his endless essays about why, in his worldview, there are no High Elves in the Alliance

And well, Erwin and Gabriela have basically become a forum meme at this point - a pair of crazy fanatics, but at least they’re fun to read, unlike Kaeros

Still, we can thank all of them too - they’re also contributing to the fact that soon the High Elves will become a playable race in the Alliance. Their constant activity keeps this thread at the top

We don’t live in a perfect world, the passive is the bare minimum next to normal skin/hair colour of what can be done to honor the request for High Elves.

It would be enough for the vast majority.

Eh… the exact same thing was said about hair and skin tones.

They were given and now it’s something else that’s needed.

I dont actually believe there is anything they could give high elf fans other than full on high elves that would stop the requests for more.

But you folks are, and let’s step outside the bubble of the debate for just a moment just to put this in perspective…asking Blizzard to put a toggle on a racial. A damn racial. Do you actually know how likely that is?

The whole point of a toggle is that it can be on or off, or in this case, one thing or another. It’s not a lot to add, however they decide to do it.

Just like you can toggle your Blessing of the Naaru to be Fel Green if you pick Man’ari customization. Blizzard has done it before.

And thats the bare minimum for a compromise to be accepted.

An optional toggle does not impact anyone, not anything, just like the Man’ari costumization.

If it was done for High Elf fans alone, they would’ve probably included the passive change to begin with.

They should’ve done it. But Blizzard, in their typical fashion, are masters of giving you X when you asked for Y, anyway.

We really do need new hairstyles as well.

I’d register new face options, tattoos, and perhaps even a new idle posture for females as potental extras (all of which should be added to Blood Elves as well). But the racial tweak as well as new hairstyles are more or less mandatory changes if Void Elves are to feel like High Elves.
