They did do exactly just that with the Earthen. Not in the character creation screen, but in their first quest. You can choose where you’re from, what’s your purpose, what you’ll do next.
Sadly nobody plays dwarves but rock (so dwarves but worse).
Understandable and again just a theory on a partnering one they could do for alliance! they also didn’t deny potential of amani in the future and the skeletons provide the baseline for them
also unrelated to my reply above, blizzard has seem to have not forgotten High Elves all together as throughout war within (after dalaran disaster) we have seen a lot of high elves whether silver covenant or just the high elven mages appear all over dornagle below is just a few examples, they could of easily of forgotten them or not used the npc’s. Just got to hope in Midnight they still remember they exist lol, especially vereesa who was only mentioned by name via alleria in war within as moving out of dalaran.
Would be nice to finally have them appear in midnight with the strong elven story (hopefully not sidelined after 12.0) being able to get a cool heritage quest and get the armour and a mount as well as officially being playable will be the dream!
True, but the start of TWW was with a different creative and narrative lead.
It’s ended in a totally different direction than what was originally planned
I don’t know - I just think now, with Amani NOT becoming a race and instead they are customization features for Darkspear Trolls…is the best we can hope for, just going to be more High Elf features for Void Elves?
Hell, some of those High Elf Mages of the Silver Covenant already use Void Elf hairstyles anyway…this isn’t shaping up well, at all.
Yeah if we’re to get more customisation for void elves giving them more “high elf” custo, I would at very least hope for a racial tag toggle & toggle to turn off void racial effect visual but alas I don’t think that would happen but the only compromise I see possible, still would prefer full allied race ofc.
But yeah totally is a different direction than originally planned, though I do think there is a small chance they become a playable race (amani) due to being out right denied and they “toy’d” with the idea maybe in the future of midnight but alas it could just be the extra customisation they mentioned and kept at that instead of both eventually.
again we’ll likely find out when alpha/beta hits in terms of story beats and hints then if they did ever happen it’ll likely be a sub patch like 0.5,0.7 or 12.1 if not then not likely at all
Maybe, but it’s still not right to start as a tagged “High Elf” in Telogrus Rift.
If you ask me, we can’t have Silvermoon which is fine because their is another Elven location in Northrend that can be revamped for the High Elves and that is Shandaral
But, I just don’t think it’s enough to have the tag…because we’re still starting in a place that does not match the pure High Elf themes at all.
I want to play a High Elf Hunter…a Silver Covenant Spellbow. A defender of the new High Elf City of Shandaral…I don’t feel like the character connects to her starting area of Telogrus.
Aye I wouldn’t want the whole compromise of a tag, i see it as a possibly maybe but again I would not want this.

Literally I agree, I want a High Elf mage or hunter that’s part of the silver covenant with it’s own little “hub” like other allied races have, a cool questline, heritage armour and a mount, it’s own racials and so on.
I would rather be proactive tbh and keep pushing for them throughout midnight, if it gets to 12.2/TLT announcement then yeah I’ll likely just give up then
I think extra customization features would be the best we can hope for, on Void Elves…but it’s still a massive sting because for me, in 2017 - I didn’t wage a war to get Void Elves.
I wanted High Elves
Honestly.
Northrend Revamp with Shandaral as an Alliance only zone for the new allied race of Quel’dorei would be a dream come true…a true reflection on the High Elf spirit that they don’t need Humans or Blood Elves to make a new home. They can do it by themselves.
I dont want to create another HE topic and I think my question is relative to this topic (maybe).
And I have better hope to find enough lore connoisseurs.
Disclaimer : my question is only about lore purpose, no IRL relatives.
Since I play warcraft from warcraft 3 → now on WoW and precisley to Shadowland before the eyes colours patch + skin tone.
I always saw elves with white/fair skin. We also now that blood elves skin might be little bit darker because of fel using and sunwell.
But my question is : Why can we see, since TWW or maybe before, many very black skin tone blood elves and high elves ?
I m not talking about the concept of “its added for players to create a character like them”
I m talking about the lore/npcs.
Can someone explain me? because High elves were always white skin. Night elves are darker but not black skin tone. And high elves are formely night elves who got expelled for arcanes using.
We know that arcanes turn their skin and eyes into blue eyes + fair skin
So how black blood elves and especially high elves npcs are possible?
My headcanon is that dark skinned high/blood/void elves didn’t “exist” simply for the same reason people of colour didn’t exist in fantasy stories: they simply weren’t seen. Maybe they were always there but the most famous stories never included them.
There actually is “historic” precedence for dark skinned elves. The Prose Edda (germanic folklore upon which this game takes inspiration) mentions dark skinned elves who live under the earth.
Let’s be honest guys, I would love to play High Elves, but with Void Elves having High Elves costumization we all now we will never have playable HE.
It wouldn’t make sense two races so similar in the same faction.
If Blizzard wanted to make a separate high elf race, in spite of the similarities, they’ll make it happen. Hell, the Earthen are just rocky dwarves!
Maybe I’m blazed out of my skull on the copium but the “no more customisations” means there’s a chance. Combined with the French video pairing the High Elf with the Amani Troll
Considering how the army of light was called through the sunwell I suppose the lightforged draenei ship could have served as an alliance hub, although it would have to be expanded a bit, but we could have had a dalaran styled alliance hub.
