Quel’dorei High Elves as an Alliance allied race (Part 1)

Good luck.

I only hope that Blizzard realizes that there are two sides to this and right now Blood Elves are getting shafted to hell and back.

I just want white/blonde/black hair for my velf .

Blondes, browns, reds, blacks - the same as other Thalassian elves get. If new generations of void elves can keep their original skin colours, why not their hair?

Maybe they choose to dye their hair that way. :^)

My character won’t choose that, and I simply won’t make him without the proper options.

They are proper choices for the race you’re playing.

For a void elf, yes. For a high elf, no. Take a look at the thread you’re in right now.

Yeah but you’re talking Void Elf customization and this thread is about a brand new allied race altogether.

I don’t think the thread creator has any illusions about the difference between the two. (S)he’s remarkably consistent in that regard.

With the coming skin tones for void elves, the chances of getting high elves as a separate race are more or less gone entirely. So this thread and effort is now aimed at working on getting high elves incorporated properly into the void elf race, with the available options making it possible to play a character that’s as high elven as it’s possible to get them.

You saying High Elves cant dye their hair purple? Rude.

I’m sure they can, but it’s ridiculous to assume they all would.

Well, there’s black and grey too. I think the colors in the Wowhead article are pretty realistic.

And in order to make sense as being playable high elves, they would need to be able to choose not to dye their hair emo. Or tentacly.

Still a Void Elf. Maybe you could look at it as a cultural shift.

Maybe they could update the existing High Elves to reflect that. I believe the eyes were changed to purple on the Alpha so we’re halfway there already.

That’s the entire point right now. We want high elves, and with the upcoming options, we want them as a part of the void elven allied race.

But how much are you going to rob off the current Blood Elves.
An allied race should NEVER have more options than it’s core race counter-part. This includes Nightborne and they do need some updates, but that doesn’t mean they should have more than Night Elves.

I say, 2 hair styles (Vereesa hairstyle and the High Ponytail) for females in bright blonde and silver/grey and then 2 more hair styles for the males - again in bright blonde and silver-grey.

If a compromise is really what you guys were after, and I’ve seen that word being touted by y’all several times in the past then I’d wager to say that what you’ve gotten so far is more than enough.

I don’t think that word means what you think it means.

I agree that blood elves still deserve a lot more love and attention, and I wouldn’t want to take anything away from them. Quite the opposite. I wouldn’t want green eyes. I’d want other hair styles, mostly adapted from Alliance races, such as night elven, dwarven and human hair styles. I think blood elves should keep the new jewellery, and perhaps only share it with other Horde races, such as Nightborne. I’d love Nightborne and blood elven cultures to exchange a lot of elements with one another.

And I don’t actually want any compromises for high elves at all. I stated several times before the new void elf options were announced that I thought adding high elven options for void elves was a terrible idea which would most certainly be the final nail in the coffin for any hope of a separate playable high elf race. But here we are. High elves as their own playable race are now highly unlikely. High elves as an integrated part of the playable void elven race, however, is extremely close to being a reality. So, I’ll keep on making the case for void elves to include as many high elven options as possible, down to hair styles and colours, and even options to visually change the racial abilities to appear less voidy.

And you don’t see the absurdity of turning this allied race into a superior version of a core Horde race?

You’re getting two races for the price of one as it is while the OG languishes in the dust with some jewelry that will be covered up by almost every armor in the game.

But what we have to do is pick which features look the best, but have to limit it.

I do think, as a Blood Elf fan, that giving void elf females the “Vereesa hairstyle” is fair, with the options of either silver-grey or light blonde, but not take all the hair styles, hair colours and everything else except the green eyes and put them on void elves, because rightfully, we blood elf fans would feel that our race is being made obsolete.
